    You Took the Initiative

Cheng Jiqing stared at Bai Xin in shock, glancing towards the front row, signaling to Bai Xin—there are still people here.

If the driver even lifted his eyes, he could see them in the mirror.

Bai Xin leaned back against the seat, her slightly tilted posture turned towards Cheng Jiqing, eyes half-closed. From this angle, it looked even more like she was peering down at Cheng Jiqing.

Her skin seemed flushed with blood; even her usually pale lips were more vivid than usual.

To Cheng Jiqing’s eyes, there was an inexplicable hint of allure… Her gaze lingered on those lips for a moment, her throat bobbing.

Cheng Jiqing felt as though her fingertips weren’t touching Bai Xin’s skin, but a deadly poison.

With just a light touch, that poison could seep through the pores into her blood, her limbs, and meridians1, making her heart pound like a drum, her mind go numb.

    All self-control vanished.

The Omega’s gland was hot and soft; she could feel a bump like a mosquito bite.

That was a unique reaction AO pairs had during sensitive moments.

Inside the cramped car, the stuffy air was barely enough for four people to breathe. Cheng Jiqing felt an oppressive tightness in her chest. Another glance at Bai Xin, and the tightness worsened, forcing her to take a deep breath and exhale slowly—repeating this, she realized her breathing was quickening.

In this environment, with the driver and Qin Yufu both present, her self-control was being easily dismantled by Bai Xin.

Bai Xin showed no intention of letting go.

Instead, Cheng Jiqing felt Bai Xin’s hand gripping hers, index finger pressing against her own, moving slightly on her neck, like a patient mentor2 guiding her on what to do next.

    And so.

As if possessed3, Cheng Jiqing pressed down lightly.

She saw Bai Xin’s red lips part slightly, her eyelashes tremble.

She felt her palm and fingers slick with sweat, having the illusion of touching the source of a spring.

Bai Xin wasn’t the only one sweating; Cheng Jiqing was losing a fair amount of salt herself. She was dying of thirst, feeling no better than Bai Xin.

    Suddenly.

Qin Yufu’s inquiry came from the front seat—

“Excuse me, how much longer until we arrive?”

Cheng Jiqing’s mind jolted as if waking from a dream. She pulled her hand away from Bai Xin’s neck and warily glanced forward.

But she couldn’t fully withdraw. She had used very little force, so Bai Xin easily pulled her hand back.

The next second, a sharp pain shot through the back of her hand as Bai Xin bit down, almost making her cry out.

She clenched her teeth and looked at Bai Xin—Bai Xin’s cheeks were flushed, yet her gaze was dark and carried a hint of pressure.

    Bai Xin was displeased.

Just as she registered Bai Xin was biting her, the driver in front answered simultaneously, “Ten minutes.”

“Okay, thank you,” Qin Yufu said.

The moment she finished speaking, Qin Yufu suddenly turned her head to look back—

Cheng Jiqing sucked in a cold breath.

Fortunately, Qin Yufu only cast a peripheral glance, likely unconsciously. Although Cheng Jiqing’s right hand was ‘occupied,’ her left hand rested properly. Perhaps because of this, Qin Yufu didn’t notice anything amiss.

After just one look, she turned back around.

The car sped along the highway.

Cheng Jiqing’s heart was also racing absurdly fast. She actually felt the panic of having an affair, the feeling of being about to be discovered, along with a shameful excitement.

The driver knew the rules and never once glanced back.

Cheng Jiqing took another couple of seconds to compose herself, managing to regain a sliver of clarity amidst the tension. It was also at this moment that Bai Xin opened her mouth and released her hand.

Regaining freedom of her hand, Cheng Jiqing shot Bai Xin a glare, silently asking, “Are you a dog4? Why did you bite me?”

Under the influence of alcohol, Bai Xin wasn’t feeling well physically. Her beautiful, delicate brows furrowed. She just looked at Cheng Jiqing, her eyes filled with dissatisfaction, lingering intently5.

Yet, this version of Bai Xin, despite her coldness, seemed cloaked in fragility.

    Cheng Jiqing: “…”

Cheng Jiqing didn’t know what had gone wrong. After just a few hours apart, Bai Xin was changing faces again. But as soon as Bai Xin seemed uncomfortable, no matter how cold she had just been, Cheng Jiqing’s heart softened.

Even though she knew Bai Xin probably didn’t mean to appear wronged.

Cheng Jiqing felt she might have masochistic tendencies.

After receiving the cold shoulder, she still couldn’t bear to see the other person suffer.

Annoyed, she grabbed Bai Xin’s hand, placed it on the seat, and held it. This time, she used a bit more force, restraining Bai Xin, and restraining herself as well.

Although she didn’t know where Bai Xin had found such audacity just now—was her head turned6 by her body’s reaction, or was this person someone she didn’t actually understand, always prone to such startling actions?

What she knew clearly in her heart was that when she touched the Omega gland, she too had nearly lost her senses.

She had almost been led astray by Bai Xin—Should I bite down?

At that moment, she too had crazily entertained such a thought.

Therefore, the force with which she currently held Bai Xin’s hand was a reminder to Bai Xin, and also to herself.

There were still people in the car.

    Holding hands was the limit.

Fortunately, Bai Xin made no further moves, leaving only their palms growing progressively hotter and stickier against each other.

In less than ten minutes, the car stopped outside a villa complex.

Cheng Jiqing released her hand at the right moment. Instantly, the cool air dissipated all the intense heat from her palm.

Bai Xin also retracted her hand, curling her fingers, feeling an emptiness somewhere.

Qin Yufu turned back: “Bai Xin, I’ll head off first then.”

    “Mm.”

Even Cheng Jiqing found the response perfunctory.

Qin Yufu glanced at her again, her lips moving slightly. Cheng Jiqing said, “You should have someone come out to meet you.”

Qin Yufu shook her head: “No need. Thank you for the ride.”

Perhaps because she couldn’t detect any hostility towards Cheng Jiqing on Bai Xin’s face, coupled with what Cheng Jiqing had said to her today, her resentment towards Cheng Jiqing had unknowingly lessened.

Qin Yufu got out of the car.

Cheng Jiqing watched her retreating back through the window for two seconds before Bai Xin’s cool voice sounded beside her ear.

“Worried? Why don’t you follow her?”

Cheng Jiqing retracted her gaze and retorted, “I’m more worried about you.”

When she said this, she was only thinking about Bai Xin’s heat period potentially flaring up at any moment, not paying attention to Bai Xin’s tone. She leaned slightly closer, asking, “Are you okay? Hospital or what?”

She was asking for Bai Xin’s opinion.

Bai Xin felt extremely restless inside. Seeing Cheng Jiqing’s genuinely concerned expression, she only felt more irritated. Yet, a smile touched her face: “Little CEO Cheng, trying to have it both ways7? What, planning to marry Qin Yufu while still maintaining a marked relationship with me?”

She offered Cheng Jiqing no fig leaf8.

    She laid the words bare.

    “?”

Cheng Jiqing froze, then her face flushed red, then darkened as she understood Bai Xin’s meaning.

The driver, being quite perceptive, discreetly got out of the car.

“Did I say something wrong? Or do you plan to keep pretending?”

    Her tone was infuriating.

Cheng Jiqing’s temper began to flare: “Is that the kind of person I am in your eyes? Bai Xin, search your conscience and think again if that makes any sense. What kind of person do you take me for?”

Bai Xin said, “Otherwise, what kind of person are you?”

    Cheng Jiqing choked.

For a moment, she didn’t know how to retort.

Her silence was taken by Bai Xin as guilt. Bai Xin said, “Back then, when I asked about your motive, you should have told me. Maybe you could have even threatened me into agreeing.”

Wouldn’t have had to resort to all this deception now.

    Threaten?

Threaten her using her Omega identity?

    Agree?

    Agree to her two-timing9?

Cheng Jiqing was genuinely angry now. Her face turned cold: “Miss Bai really thinks highly of me.”

The atmosphere inside the car became tense, like swords drawn and bows bent10.

Cheng Jiqing shifted slightly to the side, putting some distance between herself and Bai Xin. But the more she thought, the more uncomfortable she felt staying there. She opened the car door and got out.

The August weather was oppressively hot.

She exited the car decisively but didn’t leave, just stood by the door—afraid that if Bai Xin suddenly felt unwell, she could get back in quickly.

The muggy summer wind seemed to blow straight into Cheng Jiqing’s heart. The car was about a meter away from the nearby bushes, and she stood in the empty space between them.

Her phone vibrated. She looked down and saw it was another message from Tang Jia.

【If you can’t handle it, you can contact me.】

Cheng Jiqing, still fuming, typed back: 【Can’t handle it. You come get her.】

Tang Jia: 【? Tell me the situation.】

    Cheng Jiqing: 【We started fighting.】

    Tang Jia: 【?】

    Tang Jia: 【Then I’m not going.】

    Cheng Jiqing: 【?】

    Tang Jia: 【I can’t beat her either.】

    “…”

What did she mean by either?

Even if they fought, could she possibly lose to Bai Xin?

This Omega who, apart from being sharp-tongued11, was basically the epitome of ‘delicate and fragile’12?

Cheng Jiqing looked up at the sky and took a deep breath, too lazy to say more. Bai Xin and Tang Jia were friends; Tang Jia wouldn’t just ignore her.

She sent her location: 【She’s not feeling well, not sure if it’s her heat period or aftereffects. Come pick her up.】

Just as the message went out, she heard the car door on the other side open.

Cheng Jiqing didn’t turn around, but her ears uncontrollably tracked the footsteps. Bai Xin was walking towards her.

She didn’t know what expression to wear. Bai Xin’s words earlier had genuinely upset her.

She couldn’t guarantee her own purity, but she wasn’t as dirty as Bai Xin made her out to be. After so many interactions, Bai Xin still saw her this way.

What kind of person was she?

Cheng Jiqing recalled her earlier conversation with Bai Xin in the car, still unable to think of a comeback, feeling even more annoyed.

The back of her hand throbbed slightly.

She lowered her head; the skin still showed an imprint. The lighting wasn’t good enough to see if it had bruised.

Bai Xin’s footsteps stopped, and her attention stopped with them.

The warm breeze carried the intoxicating scent of alcohol and Bai Xin’s faint voice.

    “Cheng Jiqing.”

Cheng Jiqing paused, then turned slightly sideways. Bai Xin stood by the rearview mirror, her slender, well-proportioned arm resting on it for support.

She heard Bai Xin ask her, “Then what kind of person do you take me for?”

Under the dim yellow streetlights, the woman didn’t hide her discomfort; even her voice sounded less cold than before.

Perhaps because of this, Cheng Jiqing’s anger subsided somewhat, though her tone didn’t soften: “Anyway, it’s different from how you see me. So what exactly did I do for you to talk about me like that? Why don’t you make it clear?”

Bai Xin wore a black dress revealing her clavicle13. Due to her uneven breathing, the bones were particularly distinct under the light and shadow.

Bai Xin looked at her, enunciating each word. Hearing Cheng Jiqing’s attitude, her voice turned cold again: “Did you not lie to me? Did you not go see a movie with Qin Yufu? Do you not want to marry her? Did you… not mark me?”

If this wasn’t trying to have it both ways, what was?

She spoke the last sentence extremely slowly, her eyes fixed on Cheng Jiqing’s expression with every word.

Today was probably the most Bai Xin had ever spoken to her in one go.

Cheng Jiqing suddenly felt it was better when Bai Xin didn’t speak.

Cheng Jiqing laughed out of anger: “…Who said I went to the movies with Qin Yufu? Who wants to marry her? Miss Bai, can you be reasonable?”

Her thoughts shifted to Bai Xin’s last sentence. She said, “I do bear responsibility for the first marking, but weren’t we both victims? And I never said I wouldn’t acknowledge it… Besides, weren’t you the one who initiated it later…”

Cheng Jiqing met Bai Xin’s gaze.

The words after ‘hugged me, let me mark’ got stuck in her throat.

Then she realized, unconsciously, she seemed to have shifted the topic.

Bai Xin said, “Initiated what? Go on, tell me.”

Throwing Cheng Jiqing’s words back at her.

    Cheng Jiqing: “…”

She felt resigned14. If someone had to be unhappy, they could both be unhappy together: “The one who initiated hugging me, letting me mark them, wasn’t that you, Miss Bai?”

Hearing this, Bai Xin’s stunning peach-blossom eyes narrowed slightly, alluring yet dangerous. She gave a cold laugh, dimples appearing on her cheeks like poison laced in honey15: “Then why did I end up like that?”

    Cheng Jiqing: “…”

    Back to her deep water16.

Why? Wasn’t it because of the inducing agent? Setting that aside, weren’t the so-called marking aftereffects because she had slept with her that first night at the villa?

    Cheng Jiqing deflated instantly.

There might be reasons, but it was also true that she had taken Bai Xin’s first time.

“Back then, you vowed earnestly to take responsibility, now you don’t even dare mention it, is that it…” Before she could finish, Bai Xin suddenly lost her footing and stumbled.

She managed to grab the rearview mirror just in time to steady herself.

But Cheng Jiqing still darted over immediately, catching her by the waist. The person in her arms was incredibly hot.

The faint, alluring scent of lilies, mixed with alcohol, was uniquely captivating.

Cheng Jiqing looked down and saw the woman’s complexion worsening. Most of her anger dissipated. She sighed, “Why get so worked up when you’re not feeling well… Alright, alright, I can’t win an argument against you. Let’s get back in the car first.”

Cheng Jiqing opened the door and helped her into the car.

Cheng Jiqing didn’t grab Bai Xin’s hand this time but placed her own hand near her leg, sitting close. They had just argued, but she felt she had suffered an undeserved misfortune, bearing an innocent name. She didn’t want to back down too easily.

Even though, in front of Bai Xin, she had already yielded, actively and passively, many times.

Cheng Jiqing stared at the windshield ahead for a few seconds, calming herself down, then said, “I never said I wouldn’t take responsibility now. If I weren’t going to be responsible, why would I have run around after you these past few times?”

    This was the truth.

Besides self-preservation, there was also an element of responsibility.

Not only was it Bai Xin’s first time, but Bai Xin was also the first, and only, woman she had ever had relations with.

Hearing this, Bai Xin looked up at her. Standing outside just now had used up most of her strength; she spoke listlessly:

“Then how do you plan to take responsibility?”

Cheng Jiqing asked, “How do you want me to take responsibility?”

    Bai Xin asked, “Anything goes?”

“Anything.” Cheng Jiqing thought for a moment, then added, “But I sell my skills, not my body.”

The atmosphere wasn’t as tense as before, so the tone wasn’t as serious.

Bai Xin’s eyebrows twitched. She stared at Cheng Jiqing silently for two seconds.

What if what she wanted was her body?

Bai Xin didn’t say it out loud. She wasn’t in heat, but these marking aftereffects weren’t much better than a heat period, except that her pheromones wouldn’t spill out so easily.

But Cheng Jiqing’s effect on her was the same.

She suddenly remembered when Cheng Jiqing had massaged her neck; Cheng Jiqing’s body temperature was always slightly cooler than hers, her fingers too—

She felt her two glands pulsing gently.

Bai Xin’s gaze involuntarily fell on Cheng Jiqing’s legs, tightly encased in jeans, then moved to her right hand.

Long, beautiful fingers, nails neat and smooth. The only flaw was the conspicuous redness on the back of the hand, along with several clearly visible bite marks.

Had she bitten that hard just now?

Bai Xin pressed her lips together. What had she been thinking when she bit down? Bai Xin became somewhat aware of something, but the thought suddenly retracted, so she didn’t grasp it clearly for the moment.

The main reason was that the marks completely captured her attention.

    She spoke slowly.

    “Really take responsibility?”

“As long as you ask for it, and I can do it, I’ll agree.”

    Responsible meant responsible.

Bai Xin looked at that hand and said, “Then, before I decide how I want you to take responsibility, I need—”

    “You to soothe me again.”

The author has something to say:

Boss Bai is just deep with her schemes17~

Later, discovering that the first marking was also initiated by wifey, Cheng Jiqing falls into deep thought: Just how many traps set by wifey have I fallen into?

    Now

Chengcheng: Forget it, I can’t win the argument.

    Boss Bai: Heh.

    Later

Chengcheng: Can’t win the argument, but can’t I handle you?

    Boss Bai: Sob.
