After Transmigrating into the Villain’s Cat, I Dominated the Entertainment Circle – Chapter 60

Feifei Is Drunk

Drunk Driving

Luo Ke stood outside the hospital room, watching through the window as Lin Sifei, tail drooping, chatted with Shuaishuai.

Shuaishuai’s condition still wasn’t great. He lay in his cage, his eyes fixed on Lin Sifei.

The two cats meowed back and forth. After a moment, Lin Sifei sighed, hopped a short distance away, and returned with a small ball in her mouth to play catch with him.

A helpless smile touched Luo Ke’s lips. She then tilted her head to look at Yuan Mo, who was squatting on the floor beside her, carefully peeking into the room.

“President Yuan, you don’t have to do that. You can just watch open and aboveboard1.”

Yuan Mo held up a finger, shushing her, and continued to peek.

Luo Ke glanced at his heavily injured right hand and said no more. In a way, they were both pretty miserable. She had broken her left arm, and now Yuan Mo’s right hand was useless.

“You’re really not planning to have anything to do with Yan Yafei anymore?”

Hearing Yan Yafei’s name, a hint of pain crossed Yuan Mo’s face. His brow twitched, and he ran a hand through his hair. “En2, I don’t want to get involved with her again.”

Luo Ke smiled. “She’s been lying to you for so long. Do you need some revenge?”

“No.” Yuan Mo averted his gaze. “I don’t want to hear anything about her ever again. It’s best if there are no ties at all.”

“Then give me the surveillance video.”

Yuan Mo frowned at her. “You seem awfully fixated on Yan Yafei.”

“I’m different from you. I don’t have any feelings for her,” Luo Ke said with cold sarcasm. “Yan Yafei holds a grudge against me, too. If I let her go, she might not let me go once she finds a backer.”

Yuan Mo fell silent. When the doctor arrived, he immediately asked about Shuaishuai’s condition again.

The doctor thought for a moment and told him to come in and see for himself.

As soon as they entered, Lin Sifei dropped the ball and jumped to the side. She ran to Luo Ke and scrambled up her pant leg into her arms.

Luo Ke smiled and scratched her under the chin.

Yuan Mo walked toward the cage. When Shuaishuai saw him, his ears immediately perked up and his eyes widened.

“Shuaishuai,” Yuan Mo said, extending his hand.

Shuaishuai looked at his hand, stood up, walked to the edge of the cage, and lay down. “Miao~

His fur poked out through the bars of the cage. Yuan Mo’s face lit up as he reached out to stroke him.

Shuaishuai squinted and let out another “Miao~“.

The doctor also breathed a sigh of relief and patted Yuan Mo’s shoulder. “It seems Shuaishuai really trusts you. You can take him home in a little while.”

“Okay, thank you, doctor.”

Yuan Mo picked up the medicine and took Luo Ke’s car back.

“I’ll send you the surveillance video in a bit,” Yuan Mo said as he got out of the car. “Are you going to deal with her right now?”

“Of course not. It’s just leverage, in case it’s necessary,” Luo Ke said with a wave, carrying Lin Sifei inside.

The moment the door closed, Lin Sifei transformed back into a person, grabbing a bathrobe from the sofa and draping it over herself.

Luo Ke opened the fridge and poured lemonade for herself and Lin Sifei.

Lin Sifei happily brought over her laptop, waiting for Yuan Mo to send the video.

Luo Ke handed her the glass and leaned over to open Yuan Mo’s message window.

Lin Sifei saw a picture of Yuan Mo hiking in the chat history and pouted. “You and Yuan Mo seem to get along pretty well.”

“We’ve known each other since we were kids, after all.” Luo Ke turned and leaned close to her ear. “Are you eating vinegar3?”

“Heng4, I’m not eating vinegar at all.” Lin Sifei whipped her head around, refusing to look at her.

Ding-dong. Yuan Mo sent a file.

Lin Sifei immediately downloaded it and opened the folder. The video was black at first, then Yan Yafei’s figure appeared clearly.

As the video’s progress bar crept forward, Lin Sifei’s expression grew increasingly grim. When the video reached the end, it automatically replayed.

Lin Sifei hit the pause button, took a deep breath, and leaned against Luo Ke.

Luo Ke patted her head comfortingly. “Yan Yafei will pay the price.”

Lin Sifei hummed in agreement, then stood up and kissed Luo Ke on the lips.

After lazing around at home for a few days, during which Lin Sifei transformed into a cat to visit Shuaishuai several times, he was back to being the handsome Ragdoll cat he once was. He spent his days with his chin up, squatting on the balcony to attract the neighborhood’s female cats.

Lin Sifei felt relieved and returned to the film crew.

Because of the previous incident, the atmosphere was a bit off, but thankfully there weren’t many scenes left to shoot.

Chen Qiyuan came to her with his script every day to ask for advice, and Lin Sifei held nothing back.

Lu Heng, the male lead, however, gradually began to distance himself from Lin Sifei. When they occasionally ran into each other, Lu Heng would sigh helplessly. “The puppies5 are so annoying these days, always sneaking around the set. They’ll snap a picture of anything and spread it everywhere.”

“We have romance rumors?”

Lu Heng shrugged. “It can’t be helped. Romance rumors between the two of us are bound to happen. But you and President Luo won’t mind, right?”

Lin Sifei thought for a moment, a slight curve forming on her lips. “Hehe, letting her eat a little vinegar isn’t a bad idea.”

Seeing her acting like a young girl in love, Lu Heng relaxed a bit. “By the way, it seems you don’t have an agency. Are you planning to handle the follow-up publicity and distribution yourself?”

“I haven’t decided yet. I might go to a subsidiary of the Luo Corporation.”

“Luo Corporation…” Lu Heng frowned and lowered his voice. “With Feng Xiao?”

“Don’t worry. Even if I go over, it’ll be as the President’s wife, airdropped6 in.” Lin Sifei arrogantly flipped her hair.

Her phone rang. Lin Sifei glanced at it and saw it was Luo Ke. She looked at Lu Heng.

Lu Heng smiled and raised his hands. “Alright, alright, I won’t be a light bulb7.”

She blushed slightly at his teasing tone. She cleared her throat and answered the phone. “Hello.”

“How’s it going? Is the film crew busy right now?”

“It’s okay. Most of my scenes were shot early on, so it’s more relaxed now.” Lin Sifei held her phone, unconsciously kicking at a small stone on the ground. “What about you? Is work going smoothly?”

“I just signed an agreement with Luo Shengping. He’s no longer a director at the Luo Corporation. My plan can now proceed to the next stage.”

Hearing this, Lin Sifei didn’t look happy. Instead, she clutched her phone worriedly. “You have to be careful. Remember to catch someone off guard. Keep more bodyguards around you, and have someone watch the Luo family’s side too. You absolutely must be careful about your own safety.”

“Don’t worry, I know.” Luo Ke twirled her pen. “You’re the one I’m worried about. A film crew is a place where dragons and fish are jumbled together8.”

“After what happened last time, the whole crew is being extremely careful now. They won’t even let a fly slip by.” Lin Sifei let out a puchi9 laugh. “It’s really been hard on Director Chen. Remember to give him a little more investment.”

Luo Ke couldn’t help but chuckle. “I know.”

“Oh, right.” Lin Sifei remembered what Lu Heng had said. “I’m thinking of signing with the entertainment company under the Luo Corporation. It’ll save a lot of trouble. There will be publicity and distribution matters after the movie is released.”

“Wait a little longer. Sign with a company in a couple of days.”

Trusting Luo Ke completely, Lin Sifei nodded without even asking.

Luo Ke smiled helplessly. “You trust me that much?”

“Of course.” Lin Sifei put her hands on her hips and snorted. She suddenly gasped. “I wanted to tell you, there will probably be romance rumors about me and Lu Heng after the movie is released. After all, we’re the male and female leads, so…”

Luo Ke’s voice grew heavy. “So?”

“So you have to trust me, too.” Lin Sifei lifted her chin. “Romance rumors are just chasing the wind and clutching at shadows10.”

Luo Ke pressed her lips together. She wasn’t an alien; she had seen those kinds of rumors in the entertainment section before. The thought of Lin Sifei’s name appearing alongside another man’s made her extremely uncomfortable.

“Who is Lu Heng? What does he look like?” She had to check first, to see if he was Lin Sifei’s type.

“You can search for him online. I don’t have any pictures of him.”

Luo Ke felt a little better. No pictures. They probably aren’t that close.

“Alright, but you can’t deliberately create romance rumors with him for the sake of the movie.” Luo Ke had previously heard her subordinates gossiping about how the entertainment industry would intentionally stir-fry heat11 by creating fake romance rumors.

Lin Sifei laughed out loud. “Don’t worry, don’t worry, I won’t.”

Lin Sifei wanted to chat a little longer, but Director Chen was already rushing her. It was time for her scene.

“Okay, I’m hanging up. I want to eat Salted Duck12 tonight.”

Nanjing Salted Duck

Luo Ke smiled and nodded. “Got it. I’ll go buy some.”

Lin Sifei happily hung up the phone and ran toward the set.

Sitting in her office, Luo Ke thought for a moment, then opened a search engine and typed in “Lu Heng.”

Web pages popped up with his reports and photos. Luo Ke narrowed her eyes, looking at him smiling for the camera. He had a refined air. He took such good care of himself it was hard to guess his age, but he still gave off the overwhelming impression of a mature man.

He’s at least in his forties, Luo Ke thought, narrowing her eyes and ignoring the age displayed on the page as she mentally slung mud at him.

He’s an old man. Lin Sifei definitely wouldn’t like someone like that. No wonder this style isn’t popular; he looks like a supporting character.

On the set, Lu Heng sneezed. Director Chen immediately looked at him warily. “You’re not catching a cold, are you?”

“No, I just suddenly felt like sneezing.”

Director Chen was terrified. “You’re the male lead. You absolutely cannot get sick, understand?” The disaster-prone film crew absolutely could not have another incident.

Lu Heng could read his thoughts from his gaze and looked up at the sky helplessly.

“President Luo, the information about Luo Shengping embezzling public funds and accepting bribes during his tenure has been compiled. It’s all here.”

Luo Ke took the file and looked through the documents, letting out a long breath. “This is enough.”

She looked up at Special Assistant Lin and Zhao Min. “Contact the Legal Department. Also, double the company’s security. You two need to be careful during this time as well. Reorganize the home addresses and frequently visited places of all the secretaries. I’ll assign bodyguards to follow them.”

Zhao Min swallowed hard at this level of precaution. “President Luo, is it that serious?”

Luo Ke raised her left arm, revealing the plaster cast13. “How do you think I got this?”

Zhao Min shivered and nodded silently.

After several more days of shooting, the film crew for 《Light》 finally completed its final shoot.

“Alright! Congratulations on wrapping up filming14!”

Cheers and applause erupted throughout the set. Lin Sifei took off her hair tie, shaking out her long, flowing hair.

“Miss Lin! Someone sent you flowers.”

Lin Sifei raised an eyebrow in surprise and accepted the roses as a wave of teasing cheers rose from the crowd.

“Who’s it from?”

“Must be from her lover.”

Everyone smiled and clapped, but they all tactfully avoided mentioning Luo Ke’s name. After all, while they called it a romance, no one knew the real situation. Bringing it out into the open and making someone lose face could cost them their jobs.

Lin Sifei took the flowers and removed the card on top.

【Congratulations on wrapping up filming ^V^——Luo Ke】

Seeing the hand-written emoticon on the card, Lin Sifei couldn’t help but let out a puchi laugh. “They’re from Luo Ke.”

“Wao, I’m so jealous.” Lu Heng made a zeze15 sound and clutched his heart dramatically. “Too bad an old, single dog like me is all alone.”

Hearing this, Lin Sifei smiled and comforted him. “Alright, alright, I’ll send you flowers next time, as a friend.”

“Don’t go to all that trouble. Just give me one of your roses right now.” As he spoke, he pretended to reach out and pull a flower from the bouquet.

Lin Sifei turned pale with fright and couldn’t help but let out a small “Ah!”

She hugged the flowers, turned, and dodged two steps to the side. “Not these! These are mine, mine.”

She was so serious about protecting the flowers that Lu Heng couldn’t help but burst into laughter, and his laughter was infectious, spreading to everyone around them.

“This is too much dog food16. I won’t be able to eat at the wrap party tonight.”

Lin Sifei realized they were teasing her, and her face turned slightly red. “Anyway, you can’t have these flowers.”

She carried the bouquet, trotted over to the nanny van17, and placed it inside to hide it before running back.

Director Chen saw her hiding the flowers and shook his head helplessly. “The location for tonight’s wrap party is set. Everyone has to come!”

“Okay!”

Everyone let loose after the filming was over, drinking and singing everywhere.

Lin Sifei took out her phone and messaged Luo Ke under the table.

【Feifei who will explode in popularity across the universe18: I have a wrap party tonight, so I’ll probably be back very late. You should get some rest early.】

【Luo Ke: Is it going to go that late? Will there be drinking? Maybe I should come pick you up.】

【Luo Ke: What’s with your name?】

Lin Sifei couldn’t help but smile as she read the messages.

【Feifei who will explode in popularity across the universe: It’ll be late. Don’t you have work tomorrow?】

【Luo Ke: It’s fine. I can go to work a little later, it doesn’t matter.】

Lin Sifei giggled. 【Alright, I’ll send you the location in a bit. It’ll probably be another two hours or so before it breaks up.】

【Feifei who will explode in popularity across the universe: My ID is my confidence! I’m definitely going to be a huge hit.】

【Luo Ke: Okay, okay, you’ll explode in popularity across the universe. I’ll wait for you. Contact me immediately if anything happens.】

【Feifei who will explode in popularity across the universe: Okay, I’ll remember.】

【Luo Ke: Remember to drink less. Getting drunk is bad for your health, and it’s not safe. Don’t worry about saving face if people try to force you to drink.】

【Feifei who will explode in popularity across the universe: I know, I’m not an idiot.】

“Yoo-hoo, ignoring us at the wrap party to text your sweetheart.”

Lu Heng walked over to her, shaking his head with a zeze.

Lin Sifei’s face flushed, and she shot him a glare. “I’m just letting her know. She’s coming to pick me up later.”

“Still showing off one’s affection19,” Lu Heng said, feigning injury again. “But you really should head back early. It’s not safe at night. It’s good that someone’s coming to get you.”

“En, en.” Lin Sifei nodded vigorously.

Lu Heng had only come over to give her a reminder and soon got up to drink with others. Unlike Lin Sifei, who had a powerful backer, he had to maintain his social connections.

Lin Sifei watched his retreating back and thought that he probably had a bright future ahead of him. People like him became more sought-after with age; he was still young and didn’t need to be anxious.

She put her phone away. Just as she picked up her wine glass, Director Chen squeezed over. “Sifei, what did you think of this production?”

Lin Sifei raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Director Chen, what kind of question is that? I was the one who wanted to make this film in the first place. Of course I thought it was good.”

“You know I’m talking about the people.”

“Is Director Chen here to speak up for Lu Heng?” Lin Sifei smiled teasingly. “But Lu Heng-ge20 might not be happy if he knew.”

“Ah, him. His acting is good, and he’s a good person. If things go on like this… well.”

“Director Chen is a famous director. It should be easy for you to introduce him to some opportunities.”

Hearing this, Director Chen sighed helplessly. “That’s the problem. We’re too close, so he knows about any opportunities I have. He’s not very willing to take the ones I introduce.”

“So you’re saying I have to do a good deed without taking any credit.”

Director Chen gave a sheepish smile. That would be a bit difficult. “You just need to give him a little boost.”

“His type is better suited for movies. I think once 《Light》 comes out, as long as the company’s follow-up promotion is good, he won’t have to worry about opportunities.”

“The problem is his company. He offended someone. They wanted to blacklist him, but they let it go out of respect for me. However, they refuse to give him any resources.”

Lin Sifei nodded in understanding. No wonder he wanted her help; Director Chen had already intervened once.

“If I can, I’ll help,” Lin Sifei said with a smile and a nod. “After all, Lu Heng-ge has taken good care of me.”

With her promise, Director Chen felt much more at ease. He picked up his glass and walked back into the crowd.

Lin Sifei drank a little throughout the night. Seeing that it was about time, she sent a message to Luo Ke and got up to leave.

“Wait a bit. Wait for President Luo to come get you,” Lu Heng said thoughtfully, insisting that Luo Ke arrive to pick her up before letting them leave together.

Lin Sifei was a little tipsy. She sat on the sofa, staring blankly ahead.

“Director Chen said you offended someone,” Lin Sifei said, propping her chin on her hand. “How can someone with your personality offend people?”

“A fifty-year-old man wanted to use the unspoken rules21 on me.”

Lin Sifei nodded seriously. Suddenly, it dawned on her, and she glared at him. “The unspoken rules?!”

“Yeah, a dead gay22.” Lu Heng frowned in disgust. He paused for a second, then raised his hand. “I’m not homophobic, I’m just targeting him as an individual.”

Lin Sifei waved her hand dismissively and joined him in complaining, “Dead gay.”

Silence spread between them. Lin Sifei patted his shoulder like good buddies. “You’ve had it rough.”

“I think so too.” Lu Heng smiled helplessly, looking as if the matter didn’t bother him at all.

Lin Sifei patted his shoulder comfortingly, giving it a couple of squeezes for good measure.

When Luo Ke pushed the door open, that was the scene that greeted her. Her mind instantly went blank with a roar.

She walked up to Lin Sifei and stopped.

Lin Sifei’s alcohol-addled brain finally, slowly, turned to look at her. “Ya23!”

She smiled and slapped Lu Heng on the shoulder. Then she happily stood up and threw herself at Luo Ke. “My President Luo is here to pick me up!”

Luo Ke’s grim face softened. “I’m here to get you. Didn’t I tell you not to drink?”

“President Luo is here. She didn’t drink much.” Lu Heng stood up and shook her hand. “Since President Luo is here, I can rest easy. You two be careful on your way.”

“En.” Luo Ke still looked at him warily, holding Lin Sifei as she moved toward the door.

After a few steps, Lin Sifei felt the position was uncomfortable. She let go and took Luo Ke’s hand to walk forward.

Once they were out in the quiet hallway, Luo Ke glanced at her. “Are you very close with Lu Heng?”

Lin Sifei gave a silly smile. “President Luo is eating vinegar, hehe.”

“Yeah, I’m eating vinegar.” Luo Ke squeezed her hand. “So, are you two very close?”

Hearing her admit it, Lin Sifei’s smile grew even wider. “Of course we’re close. We’re the main characters, we have the most scenes together.”

“But isn’t this movie supposed to reflect social issues? It wasn’t described as a romance.”

“Love is a part of social life, too,” Lin Sifei said with righteous conviction24. “Otherwise, why would he be called the male lead?”

Luo Ke’s expression soured even more. It seemed that in the future, she couldn’t just listen to Lin Sifei’s pitches; she had to read the scripts herself before agreeing to let her take a role.

Luo Ke led her to the car, opened the passenger door, and stuffed her inside before leaning over to buckle her seatbelt.

Lin Sifei shrank back, watching Luo Ke move around in front of her. A wicked smile suddenly appeared on her face. She cupped Luo Ke’s face and kissed her.

The rich aroma of alcohol invaded Luo Ke’s mouth through their lips and tongues.

Lin Sifei bit her lip gently before pulling away.

Luo Ke took a ragged breath. Looking at Lin Sifei’s glistening lips, she pressed her thumb against her lower lip, revealing the teeth and tongue hidden within.

Lately, she and Lin Sifei had both been busy with their own things, exhausted by the end of the day. And with Lin Sifei turning into a cat, she hadn’t had any thoughts at all.

She looked at Lin Sifei’s smiling face and leaned in to bite her lip.

Lin Sifei let out a soft laugh from her throat and wrapped her arms around her neck.

Car after car drove by on the street. After a long time, Luo Ke abruptly pulled out of the car, slammed the passenger door shut, and got into the driver’s seat with a grim face.

As the driver’s door shut, Lin Sifei blinked. She looked at Luo Ke beside her and tilted her head in confusion. “Luo Ke, how did you get over there?”

“Going home.” Luo Ke started the car impatiently.

Lin Sifei didn’t get an answer. She tilted her head and thought for a while, which only made her dizzier. She decided to abandon these complicated questions. Bracing her hands on the seat, she leaned her entire body toward Luo Ke.

She was so thin that the seatbelt was to exist in name only25; she easily leaned over.

Luo Ke pressed her lips together, reached out to pinch her cheek, and held her face to push her back.

Of course, Lin Sifei wouldn’t have it, so Luo Ke could only push her down.

A moment later, Lin Sifei sat back, looking aggrieved. She covered her nose and complained in a stuffy voice, “You squashed my nose. It hurts, it hurts, it hurts…”

She complained loudly on purpose, repeating the last two words over and over.

Luo Ke rubbed her temples, getting a headache. A drunk Lin Sifei was so hard to handle.

She tried her best to ignore Lin Sifei’s voice and focused on the road ahead, driving right on the edge of the speed limit.

The lights of a police car appeared ahead. It was a checkpoint.

A police officer waved for them to stop.

Luo Ke sighed helplessly and pulled over.

“Blow into this,” the officer said, routinely handing her a breathalyzer26.

Luo Ke kept her hands on the steering wheel, blew into it, and prepared to leave.

“Hey! Wait! Drunk driving!”

Luo Ke’s foot, which was on the accelerator, froze. She looked at the officer in shock.

The officer was also very serious. “Please step out of the car.”

Luo Ke got out and blew into it again. It still showed drunk driving.

“Who is this in the car?”

“My girlfriend.”

The officer paused for a second, then gently nudged Lin Sifei. “Hello ma’am, are you awake?”

“I’m awake.” Lin Sifei looked at the officer. The cold wind outside had cleared her head a little. “What’s wrong?”

She got out of the car, walked to Luo Ke’s side, and linked her arm through hers.

“You’ve been drinking, right?” the officer asked, looking at Lin Sifei.

Lin Sifei nodded. “I had to for work. She came to pick me up.”

“Blow into it one more time.” Still drunk driving.

Luo Ke pressed a hand to her neck in frustration. “I didn’t drink.”

“You’ll have to come with us for a blood test.”

Having no choice, Luo Ke could only take Lin Sifei’s hand and get into the police car.

Lin Sifei looked at the police officer, processed for three seconds, blinked, and then leaned close to Luo Ke’s ear. “It’s not because we kissed, is it?”

Luo Ke clamped a hand over her mouth and sighed helplessly. This was the first time in her life she’d ever been to a police station—and for this!
