After Transmigrating into the Villain’s Cat, I Dominated the Entertainment Circle – Chapter 58

For the Sake of the Owner’s Doting Love

Charge, duck!1

Lin Sifei’s back broke out in a sweat. How was she supposed to explain this?

If she just came out and said she had “passed through a book,” would she scare Luo Ke? Foreseeing the future? No, that wasn’t right either. Many of the things she’d mentioned had already happened.

Knowing the past and the future? What if she asks me for the lottery numbers?

Luo Ke watched her eyes dart left and right and couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh. Puchi.

“Alright, I get it. Is this some kind of spell you cat demons have?” she asked, blinking with a smile.

Lin Sifei pouted, seeing the clear gentleness in Luo Ke’s eyes. She understood now. Luo Ke had noticed her dilemma and was deliberately joking to change the subject.

“This coffee isn’t very good,” Luo Ke said, pursing her lips and turning away. “Let’s go.”

As she stood up, Lin Sifei suddenly grabbed the corner of her clothes.

Luo Ke turned back, her gaze falling on the whorl of hair atop Lin Sifei’s head. Her heart skipped a beat. “You’re not leaving?”

“Sit down first,” Lin Sifei insisted, refusing to let go.

Luo Ke sat back down and looked at her seriously.

Lin Sifei pressed her temples, humming and hawing for a long time, unable to get the words out.

“If you don’t want to say it, you don’t have to,” Luo Ke said with a smile, reaching out to rub her head. “I can wait until you’re ready.”

“No,” Lin Sifei pouted, holding Luo Ke’s hand in place. “It’s not that I don’t want to tell you. It’s just… really strange.”

Luo Ke leaned closer. “Could it possibly be stranger than you turning from a cat into a person?”

Lin Sifei nodded seriously. “A cat turning into a person only concerns me. This secret… it involves the entire world.”

Luo Ke burst out laughing again. Puchi. That sounded way too “zhong’er.”2

Lin Sifei shot her a glare. “I’m being serious! The truth is… this world is a world inside a book.”

Luo Ke’s smile slowly faded. She looked into Lin Sifei’s eyes and received a solemn nod in return.

“I came from the outside,” Lin Sifei explained. “I’ve read this book.”

“A book?” Luo Ke leaned back, her brows knitting together. This was completely beyond anything she could have expected.

She took a deep breath. “If it’s a book, there must be a protagonist. Who is it?”

“Yan Yafei. And you… you’re the villain.”

Every trace of expression vanished from Luo Ke’s face. After a long moment, she blinked, stood up, and said, “I see. Let’s go home.”

Lin Sifei watched her leave, then hastily grabbed her bag to chase after her. “Luo Ke, don’t take it too hard! Even though it’s a world in a book, the plot can be changed. I’ve already tested it!”

They had just stepped outside the shop when Luo Ke spun around to face her. “You’ve tested it? So all this time, you’ve been targeting Yan Yafei not just because she bullied you, but because I’m the villain?”

“What do you mean, because of you?” Lin Sifei’s cheeks flushed as she clasped her hands behind her back. “It was… it was also to get revenge for myself. I’m a very petty person.”

“You’re a person?”

Lin Sifei nodded forcefully. “Always have been. I only turned into a cat after I came here.”

Luo Ke narrowed her eyes. Seeing that she seemed much more animated than before, Lin Sifei immediately pressed her advantage. “Actually, I’ve analyzed it, and the problem isn’t that big. Yan Yafei mainly relies on a few male leads to climb the ladder. We just need to break them one by one.”

“We’ll talk about that in a minute.” Luo Ke cornered her. “In your previous world, did you have a girlfriend? Or a boyfriend!”

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened as she put her hands on her hips in disbelief. “What are you even thinking?”

“I’m just asking.” Luo Ke’s imposing aura instantly deflated. “I was just worried about being a third party or something.”

“This is my first time being in a relationship. With you. I was a pretty big deal back in my world, a Movie Queen, you know. My agent and company wouldn’t let me date, and then… I had a heroic years, early death.3

Thinking about it now, she felt totally ripped off. That’s why this time, she was determined to date even while filming. It didn’t matter if it delayed her absorbing fans4. Luo Ke was rich, anyway. With a little more investment and her acting skills, she’d definitely make a profit.

“Wait!” This time, it was Lin Sifei’s turn to interrogate her. “You will publicly come out of the closet with me, right?”

“If you want to.”

“What do you mean, if I want to? That makes it sound like I’m forcing you! Do you actually want to go public with me or not?”

“I’m just worried it’ll affect your career.” Luo Ke gave a helpless smile and took her hand. “Being able to go public with you? I’d be happy to death.”

Only then did Lin Sifei raise an eyebrow, smiling as she planted a kiss on Luo Ke’s cheek. “That’s more like it.”

Back at home, Lin Sifei explained how Yan Yafei had targeted the Luo Corporation, how it eventually went bankrupt, and how Luo Ke ended up dying on the streets.

“Died on the streets,” Luo Ke repeated with a slight smile. “That’s certainly ruthless.”

“It’s just the author speaking nonsense eight ways5. Besides, even though it’s a book, the plot is really easy to change. The only issue is that those few men are drawn to Yan Yafei. As long as you’re careful, they can’t touch you.”

Luo Ke leaned against the sofa, lost in thought for a moment. “Actually, I think it’s better to take the initiative and strike first.”

“Strike first?” Lin Sifei scratched her head. “Um, actually, I don’t really remember who those guys are. If they stood in front of me and said their names, I’d recognize them, but I can’t recall them off the top of my head.”

Luo Ke looked at her helplessly. “You don’t even remember their names? How did you even read the novel?”

Lin Sifei raised a hand to smack her, but stopped when she saw the gauze on Luo Ke’s head. “I just skimmed it, okay? I read the beginning pretty carefully, but I didn’t pay much attention to the end.”

“Then besides Yuan Mo, who else do you know?”

“This one!” Lin Sifei immediately scooted closer, pulling up a tablet to search. “His identity is the youngest Movie King, so he was easy to remember and look up.”

Luo Ke looked at the man on the screen smiling and waving to his fans, then glanced at the name. “Feng Tingyun.”

“That name doesn’t sound like a Movie King at all. It’s more like something out of a martial arts novel,” Lin Sifei commented from the side, roasting6 him. “Names in the entertainment circle aren’t chosen lightly. They have to be memorable and impressive, yet still relatable.”

Luo Ke studied him for a moment before sighing. “I can’t think of a way to be the first to strike to gain the advantage.”7

Lin Sifei couldn’t help but laugh, her shoulders shaking. “And here I thought you had a plan, being so domineering a moment ago.”

“If we try to keep him away from Yan Yafei, we’ll just attract his attention. And if we try to use the Luo Corporation to apply pressure, it doesn’t have enough influence in the entertainment circle to blacklist a Movie King.”

Lin Sifei smiled and sat up straight. “But you have me! I’m about to debut, aren’t I? I’ll make contact with him first. That Yan Yafei has a pit in her brain8. As long as he gets involved with her, he’s bound to show a weakness while trying to help her.”

“That could work,” Luo Ke conceded. “But you have to be careful not to push him too far. If he incites public opinion, it will be very difficult for the Luo Corporation to handle.”

Hearing this, Lin Sifei couldn’t help but sigh. “Your entertainment company is useless. You need to invest more money and restructure it properly.”

“I was just planning to,” Luo Ke said with a smile. Her real reason, however, was that Lin Sifei was about to enter the entertainment circle, and she couldn’t let her do so without a company backing her.

Luo Ke blinked. “In the meantime, I can deal with Yuan Mo first. That kid is spending a ton of time on Yan Yafei right now, and his relationship with his father is becoming strained. It’s the perfect opportunity to take over some of the Yuan family’s companies and then join forces with his father.”

The moment she heard they were targeting Yuan Mo, Lin Sifei raised her hand again. “Actually, I have a back hand9. It’s that Ragdoll cat.”

Lin Sifei transformed back into a cat and pressed herself against the windowpane, looking at the Ragdoll sleeping on a mat inside. Bang, bang, she tapped on the glass.

The Ragdoll’s ears twitched, and he shot up, startled.

When he saw Lin Sifei, he trotted over happily. “Xiaoxiao! You’re here.”

“How have you been?”

“Not bad,” the Ragdoll replied, though his entire body drooped with dejection.

“Does Yan Yafei still hit you?”

“No. I hide whenever she comes over.”

Hating iron for not becoming steel10, Lin Sifei slapped the window. “You’re such a stupid cat! If you just endure the pain once, you can forever cut off future troubles!”11

“But it really hurts! And what if Master chooses her in the end and doesn’t want me anymore? Master really likes her, but she doesn’t like me,” Shuaishuai whined, his paws kneading the mat.

Lin Sifei fell silent. He had a point. She had always been a cat lover, which was how she’d ended up with Luo Ke. She’d never considered that someone like Yuan Mo might actually abandon his cat for a person.

“Don’t be afraid,” Lin Sifei said, her paws pressed against the glass. “If he really doesn’t care about you, then you should just leave. You saw my owner, right? When the time comes, you can come live with us. We’ll take care of you.”

“Will your owner agree?”

Lin Sifei patted Luo Ke and nodded at her. Understanding, Luo Ke nodded back.

Lin Sifei nodded at Shuaishuai again, who nervously began kneading his mat.

Luo Ke’s gaze fell on his mat, which was covered in cat fur. The amount seemed a bit excessive.

“You’re shedding quite a bit,” she commented, looking down at Shuaishuai.

Only then did Lin Sifei notice it too, and she let out a concerned meow.

Shuaishuai immediately kicked the mat away, tilted his head to the sky, and put on an innocent, “I know nothing” expression.

Lin Sifei clicked her tongue. “Are you going bald?”

You’re the one who’s going bald!” Shuaishuai’s eyes widened as he stared guiltily at the floor. “I’m just shedding my coat!”

“It’s already autumn. You should be growing your winter coat.”

Shuaishuai flopped onto the ground and pointedly turned his butt toward Lin Sifei.

Luo Ke poked Lin Sifei, silently telling her to stop teasing the poor cat.

“It’s probably stress-induced hair loss,” Luo Ke explained. “From being in a constant state of tension and fear.”

“Haha! So it’s basically the same reason people go bald!” Lin Sifei laughed.

Luo Ke gently pinched Lin Sifei’s muzzle shut and continued, “If Yan Yafei leaves and his life becomes less stressful, it should return to normal. His fur will grow back.”

Lin Sifei pried her mouth free and meowed encouragingly, “Don’t be afraid! For the sake of your beautiful fur, drive Yan Yafei away!”

Shuaishuai turned to look at her. “Is that really possible?”

“Of course it is!”

Lin Sifei gave him a serious nod.

Shuaishuai took a deep breath, his expression hardening with resolve, and nodded forcefully.

He had to become the handsome Shuaishuai he used to be! For his fur, for his owner’s doting love, he would risk it all!
