After Transmigrating into the Villain’s Cat, I Dominated the Entertainment Circle – Chapter 56

She’s Hers Now

So Sweet

The entertainment and social news sections were both dominated by the same story: an explosion had occurred on the set of a famous director’s new film. According to people at the scene, it was likely an assassination attempt, and someone had even brandished a knife.

Online, a photo of Lin Sifei was going viral. She was standing next to an ambulance, her arm covered in blood, her face ashy and earthy1 as she stared at the person on the stretcher.

【Isn’t this person the lead of the movie? No acting experience at all, and she gets to be Director Chen’s female lead for her first-ever role. Her backing must be powerful.】

【This has to be retaliatory revenge, right? It’s a bit scary. I suggest they investigate this person too.】

【Who’s the injured person? Did anyone from the film crew die? Say something! So many people are worried.】

【No wonder they never officially announced the cast. Turns out she brought capital to enter the crew2. Heh heh, well look now, you’ve stirred up trouble, haven’t you? Are you even worthy of being the female lead?】

【Is the person above Feng Xiao’s filial son3? You say she isn’t worthy, you think your precious Xiao Xiao is?】

The internet was a mess of arguments. Special Assistant Lin finished contacting the company’s public relations department, nodded, and looked at Lin Sifei. “The photos online didn’t capture President Luo’s face. For now, no one knows she’s the one who was injured.”

Lin Sifei sat outside the operating room, her head bowed in a daze. Her arm was wrapped in a bandage, put there by a paramedic on the way.

When Luo Ke had fallen, she was still holding her, and her arm scraped directly against the ground. As she was being loaded into the ambulance, Lin Sifei saw that the back of her hand was covered in blood; she hadn’t even dared to touch it.

Li Jing stood nearby and sighed. “Please rest assured. I did a simple check of the wounds. There are no major injuries. The impact to her head might require stitches, but the rest are just scrapes. It’s not serious.”

“She bled so much. It wouldn’t have happened. If she hadn’t come looking for me, if I hadn’t stirred up the Luo family’s hatred…”

Hearing her mention the Luo family, Li Jing frowned slightly. The man they’d caught seemed like he would take the fall himself. If they wanted to connect this to those few from the Luo family, it looked like it would take some extra effort.

“Miss Lin, you don’t need to worry too much. This time, it was our security company that failed to do its job properly. We will take full responsibility.”

Just as her voice fell, a clamor of footsteps echoed down the corridor. Several people dressed in glamorous attire were being blocked at the entrance to the hallway.

“Who are you people?!”

Li Jing looked over, immediately raising a hand to signal the others to be on guard as she strode over. “And who might you be?”

“We are Luo Ke’s relatives.” The woman in the lead lifted her chin.

Li Jing understood. These were the members of the Luo family that both President Luo and Miss Lin suspected.

“My apologies, but President Luo is not available to see outsiders at the moment.”

“How are we outsiders?!”

“Luo Ke is in the hospital, of course it’s inconvenient. Are you saying we, her own family, can’t even watch over her?”

As they spoke, they pushed and shoved at the bodyguards, trying to force their way in.

Li Jing frowned and spread her arms, blocking them.

“What’s all this shouting and yelling about?” Lin Sifei looked up and walked over in her high heels.

The moment the Luo family members saw her, their brows shot up. “You little vixen!”

Lin Sifei shot them a cold glance. “How did you find out that Luo Ke was injured? None of the major news outlets captured a photo of her.”

The two Luo family aunts immediately looked toward Luo Shengping. Luo Shengping stiffened his neck. “You cling to Xiao Ke all day long. If it wasn’t Xiao Ke, who else could it be!”

“That was a film set. Why would Luo Ke go there? Because she knew someone was trying to harm me. How would you know Luo Ke was injured? Because you knew I was going to be harmed, and you knew Luo Ke would get hurt. Your people were there at the time, weren’t they?”

Luo Bihua glared at her. “What nonsense in eight ways are you spouting4? Trying to incite and separate5 again, are you!”

“Whether it’s nonsense or the truth, there’s no need to argue about it here. An attempted murder and an explosion occurred, causing a major public outcry. The police will investigate this very, very carefully. When the time comes, I hope I won’t be seeing you all in prison.”

Lin Sifei turned back. “Li Jing.”

“Miss Lin.”

Lin Sifei: “No need to be polite with them.”

“Understood, Miss Lin.” Li Jing looked at the people before her, her expression hardening. “It would be best for you all to leave on your own. Otherwise, I will be forced to use violence.”

The Luo family members were all used to being raised in respect and living in comfort6. Seeing the fierce god, evil demon7 expressions on the bodyguards’ faces, they spat resentfully, turned, and left.

Listening to the footsteps behind her grow more distant, Lin Sifei looked up at the door to the emergency room, and her eyes couldn’t help but turn red.

She leaned against the wall, watching the door. Finally, it opened, and a doctor walked out. “There are no major issues. She likely lost consciousness from the blow to her head. We’ve just stitched up the wound on her head. She’ll be fine once she wakes up.”

“Thank you, doctor.” Lin Sifei joyfully grabbed his hand and shook it.

Soon, Luo Ke was pushed out by a nurse, lying on a hospital bed. Lin Sifei followed closely behind and entered the patient room.

“Um, excuse me, when do you think she’ll wake up?”

“It should be a few hours,” the nurse said with a smile. “It also depends on the individual, but it won’t be too long.”

Lin Sifei thanked her, her heart settling slightly. She sat down by the hospital bed, looking at Luo Ke’s pale face and the gauze wrapped around her head.

She sniffled, then lowered her head to look at her bandaged hand and arm.

“Luo Ke, you have to wake up soon.” She carefully placed her hand on the edge of the bed, afraid of touching her wounds.

Lin Sifei just sat there, watching her quietly. Li Jing spoke with some people from the company outside, then pushed the door open to come in. Seeing Lin Sifei’s state, she hesitated for a moment, then retreated back out.

She waved a hand at the people behind her, signaling for them to sit and wait outside.

According to the nurse, she should wake up after being unconscious for an hour or two. Lin Sifei kept watching the time. One hour, two hours, three hours…

She started to feel uneasy, her eyes darting between Luo Ke and the door.

Should I go get a doctor? It’s already been three hours. But what if Luo Ke wakes up the moment I leave? How sad would she be to open her eyes and see no one there?

Just as she was wrestling with this dilemma, the fingers of the person on the bed twitched. Her eyeballs rolled twice beneath her eyelids, and she slowly opened her eyes.

Lin Sifei immediately noticed her eyes cracking open into a slit. “Luo Ke!”

The scene before Luo Ke’s eyes was blurry. She could only vaguely make out a human shape, and her ears felt as if they were stuffed with cotton, making it hard to hear clearly.

“Luo Ke?” Seeing her fragile state, Lin Sifei lowered her voice even more, as if afraid of startling her.

Luo Ke’s brow furrowed slightly. My eyes are too tired to open properly, and this person isn’t even speaking clearly.

“Who… are you?”

Lin Sifei leaned closer to her mouth and heard those words. It was like a thunderclap from a clear sky8, striking her so hard she was completely stunned.

Luo Ke had amnesia?!

No, that can’t be. Luo Ke’s head injury was just a small wound. It couldn’t possibly cause amnesia.

But this world was based on a dog’s blood9 book. Explosions, car crashes, amnesia—weren’t these all standard tropes of melodramatic stories?

Lin Sifei shot up and leaned right in front of her face. “Luo Ke, you really don’t recognize me? Do you at least remember who you are?”

Luo Ke closed her eyes to rest for a moment, gathering a bit of strength before opening them again. This time, her vision was clearer, and she could see Lin Sifei’s worried expression.

“I…” As soon as she opened her mouth, her throat was hoarse.

Lin Sifei quickly stood up. “Wait a second, I’ll, I’ll get you some water.”

The high-class patient room was fully equipped. Lin Sifei poured some warm water and carefully helped her drink.

Luo Ke had wanted to drink it herself, but when she raised her hand and saw it was wrapped up like a mummy’s, she silently lowered it again.

With Lin Sifei’s help, she took a few sips of water and cleared her throat.

Lin Sifei put the cup back, nervously clutching her dress. “Luo Ke, you still remember me, right? Please don’t have amnesia.”

Luo Ke couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. What was Xiao Xiao thinking? To actually believe I have amnesia.

Her eyes darted, and she couldn’t resist teasing her. “You are…?”

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened. Her mind was already conjuring images of snow flying in the sixth month10, imagining a grand drama of abusive love, deep feelings11.

She took a deep breath. She absolutely could not let that happen.

She straightened her back and looked at Luo Ke seriously. “Your name is Luo Ke. My name is Lin Sifei. I’m your girlfriend, and we’re about to get engaged. You were injured this time saving me. Those relatives of yours are not good people; this incident was their doing.”

“Girlfriend.”

Lin Sifei nodded earnestly. “Yes, you’re a lesbian.”

“I don’t think I am.”

Lin Sifei’s eyes immediately widened again. “Yes, you are!”

She paused, then remembered that Luo Ke seemed to have said she was straight before. She had thought it was a joke.

“You might have been straight before, but I bent you.” Lin Sifei straightened her clothes and hair, then cupped her own cheeks. “Look how beautiful I am. You saw my beauty and conceived a desire for me12, and so you were bent by me. Look again now, isn’t your heart still fluttering?”

Luo Ke looked at her big, blinking eyes and finally couldn’t hold it in anymore, bursting out with a pfft of laughter.

Lin Sifei stared at her blankly. It took her three seconds to finally realize that she had apparently been tricked by Luo Ke!

“Luo Ke!” Lin Sifei shot to her feet. “How could you scare me like that? Do you have any idea how worried I was?”

She was panting with anger. Luo Ke quickly propped herself up. “Don’t be angry, don’t be angry. I was just teasing you.”

Lin Sifei saw her reach out to pull her. After holding it together for so long, her heart finally felt at ease. And once it was at ease, the strength she had been mustering for so long suddenly crumbled. Her nose tingled, and tears began to fall.

Luo Ke watched as Lin Sifei’s eyes reddened and tears rolled down her cheeks. She instantly panicked a little. “I didn’t mean to lie to you. No, wait, I did mean to. I, I…”

Luo Ke closed her eyes in frustration. “I’m sorry!”

Lin Sifei looked at her and couldn’t help but smile again.

Luo Ke didn’t understand how she could again break her tears to make a smile, but as long as she was smiling, it was fine. She looked at Lin Sifei and began to smile along with her.

Hearing the commotion in the room, Li Jing got up and went inside. “President Luo.”

Seeing someone enter, Lin Sifei turned her head to wipe away her tears before sitting back down by the bed.

She raised the head of the hospital bed so Luo Ke could lean back.

“Is there something?” Facing an outsider, Luo Ke’s expression was still relatively cold.

Li Jing: “A message just came in. The man we caught has indeed not revealed who was behind him. He only claims that he’s a construction worker who didn’t get paid, and he heard Miss Lin was a rich person who was stuffed into the cast. Out of resentment for the wealthy, he transferred his anger to Miss Lin. The explosive he set was homemade. According to him, he learned how to make firecrackers in the past, so he knows a little. The blast wasn’t powerful; only someone right next to it would be seriously injured. You two had already rushed out by then, so you were just thrown by the shockwave.”

Luo Ke’s brow furrowed slightly. “You didn’t check the break room beforehand?”

According to bodyguard training protocols, when taking a protectee to a hiding spot, one must first confirm that the location is safe.

“Our people didn’t expect the other party to have prepared a homemade explosive. When we checked at the time, there was an actor resting in the break room, so we couldn’t conduct a thorough search. But that person said they had been inside the whole time and no one else had entered. When we looked around again later, we were mainly searching for anyone in hiding. The break room contained many other actors’ belongings and bags, which we couldn’t easily rummage through.”

“Who was that actor?”

“Feng Xiao.”

“Miss Feng, are you certain you didn’t see anyone enter the break room at that time?”

Feng Xiao frowned and nodded, putting on an act of trying hard to recall. “Not in my memory, but I was very tired and dozed off for a short while in the middle, so I can’t be certain. The time I was drowsy felt very short to me, but I can’t say for sure how long it actually was.”

“Alright, thank you for your cooperation.” The two police officers smiled and nodded, watching her leave as they organized her testimony.

The moment Feng Xiao stepped outside, she put on her sunglasses and got into her nanny van13. Not far away were puppies14, each one hoping to dig up some useful information from her.

The van door closed, and a smile appeared on Feng Xiao’s face. Lin Sifei really is an annoying person. It isn’t just me who dislikes her; other people hate her enough to want her dead.

“Turn around. I want to go to the hospital to visit the patient.”

Carrying a fruit basket she had casually bought downstairs, Feng Xiao walked up to the nurses’ station. “Excuse me, which room is Ms. Luo Ke in? I’m here to visit her.”

“I’m sorry, I’m afraid I can’t disclose that. We just had someone come and cause a scene today.”

“Cause a scene?” Feng Xiao raised an eyebrow. “What kind of person was it?”

“We’re not clear on that sort of thing.”

Feng Xiao narrowed her eyes in thought, nodded at the nurse, then turned and walked out.

She got back in the car. Her manager asked why she hadn’t gone in again, but Feng Xiao ignored her, instead burying her head in her phone to send a message.

【Feng Xiao: Yafei, someone actually came to cause trouble at the hospital after President Luo’s incident. I just don’t know who it was.】

【Yan Yafei: To dare cause trouble for her, they must not be an ordinary person. I’ll ask around.】

Feng Xiao put down her phone and leaned back against the seat. I don’t know who this person is, but if they can stand on equal footing with Luo Ke, and if I can get on their good side, wouldn’t I be just like Lin Sifei, never having to worry about scripts again?

The corners of her lips curled up slightly as she closed her eyes to rest.

In the hospital room, Li Jing was reporting on the movements of Feng Xiao and those around her. Inevitably, her contact with Yan Yafei was mentioned, and Lin Sifei’s argument with her that day was also brought up.

When Luo Ke heard that Lin Sifei had been wronged by her, she frowned slightly. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Lin Sifei thought for a moment and answered earnestly, “I was too happy to see you, so I forgot about being angry.”

Hearing this, Luo Ke couldn’t help but smile. “You have such a sweet mouth.”

“I’m telling the truth!” Lin Sifei tried hard to prove her sincerity.

Luo Ke looked at her lips and smiled. “I’m being serious, too.”

Lin Sifei shot her a playful glare and turned her head to the side.

Li Jing stood nearby, holding a folder, and sighed silently in her heart. She continued, “Feng Xiao and Yan Yafei did not meet again afterward, but they should still be in contact. The leak of your return itinerary last time was likely the work of Feng Xiao’s company as well.”

After listening, Luo Ke looked at her. “You haven’t found any trace of contact with the Luo family?”

“None.”

Lin Sifei, sitting to the side, thought for a moment and spoke up. “It might really be a coincidence. Feng Xiao can’t stand me. When my bodyguards wanted to check the break room, she would definitely trip them up if she could, and she’d be happy about it. She probably didn’t expect it to blow up like this. With filming halted and the crew in trouble, it doesn’t do her any good either.”

Luo Ke looked at Li Jing and received a nod of agreement.

“In that case, the main thing is to make that man talk. Xiao Xiao just scared Second Uncle today. He’s never been very brave, so he’ll probably go out to find someone. This is a good opportunity to catch him slipping up.”

Li Jing nodded and left with the folder.

Lin Sifei sat by the hospital bed. Hearing the way she addressed him, her eyes couldn’t help but dart around. “Luo Ke, you still call him ‘Second Uncle.’ Does that mean you plan to cover this up?”

“Covering it up is impossible.” Luo Ke narrowed her eyes. “I haven’t treated him poorly, and it was all out of respect for my father’s face. Now that he’s actually committed such an act, I certainly won’t tolerate it. It’s just that he still holds some shares of the Luo Corporation that were distributed previously. Grandma will definitely use this to half-plead, half-coerce me. I plan to secure the shares first. This isn’t the only crime he’s committed.”

Lin Sifei sat beside her, poured her another glass of water, and offered it with both hands. “Big Boss, drink your tea.”

Luo Ke glanced at her, amused, and leaned over to drink from the cup.

Lin Sifei watched her, a small smile appearing at the corners of her lips. From these past few incidents, Lin Sifei had come to understand Luo Ke’s principles. To eliminate someone, she wouldn’t abide by any principle of ‘the way of Heaven is a good cycle15,’ insisting that the person must be punished for a specific crime. She only cared about the result. As for the process, or which crime was pinned on them, she didn’t mind.

“Do you think I’m very bad?”

Lin Sifei was suddenly pulled back to reality and saw Luo Ke staring at her. She quickly shook her head. “What are you talking about? How could I ever think that of you? There’s nothing wrong with handling it this way. If you try to be conscientious with someone who has no conscience, you’ll be the only one who suffers.”

As Lin Sifei spoke, she nodded earnestly in agreement with her own words.

Luo Ke looked at her and couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile. “Then you’d better remember to have a conscience. Otherwise, if I lose mine, that would be terrible.”

“Of course I have a conscience. I’m a very good person,” Lin Sifei said, lifting her chin.

For the next few days, the film crew was on hiatus, and Lin Sifei found herself at leisure again. She kept Luo Ke company in the hospital room, binge-watching dramas, watching variety shows, and occasionally glancing at the online speculation about her. Theories about her being the darling of some underground kingdom had even emerged.

Ew~ Lin Sifei shivered, disgusted.

She glanced at Luo Ke, who was taking a nap beside her, and happily snuggled up to her. I’m a sunny, upstanding youth who grew up under the sun. That kind of dark persona can be left to someone else.

Knock, knock. A knock came from the door. Lin Sifei immediately bit her lower lip, and tiptoeing barefoot, she pulled the door open.

“Shh—” Lin Sifei poked her head out the door. “Luo Ke is still sleeping.”

“I came to tell President Luo that we’ve got a handle on him.”

Luo Ke, on the hospital bed, immediately opened her eyes. They were perfectly clear, without a hint of grogginess. “Come in.”

Hearing her voice, Lin Sifei ran back barefoot. “You’re awake!”

“Mhm.” Luo Ke sat up. “I slept very comfortably.”

Lin Sifei smiled happily.

Li Jing narrowed her eyes, her hand touching the sunglasses clipped to her pocket. I really want to put them on to protect my eyes.

“President Luo, Director Luo Shengping went out late last night to meet with a bald man and handed over five hundred thousand in cash.”

“Cash.” Luo Ke closed her eyes for a moment. “Whose account did the money come from?”

“Ms. Luo Bihua’s account.”

Hearing this, Luo Ke couldn’t help but laugh. Lin Sifei looked at her worriedly. “Your eldest aunt was involved too? But don’t be sad. They’re all bad people, you already knew that.”

“I’m not sad.” Luo Ke waved her hand. “I find it amusing. The money came from my eldest aunt’s account, which proves she knew nothing about this. Otherwise, given their personalities, they would definitely shift the blame to each other. Neither would be willing to have the money move from their account. This is a real, large-sum cash flow.”

“Being kicked out by her dear younger brother to be the scapegoat… how interesting.” She let out a cold laugh. “Have you caught the person he dealt with?”

“We’ve caught him and sent him to the police station for questioning.”

Luo Ke nodded and swung her legs over the side of the bed. Lin Sifei quickly supported her. “What are you getting down for? Hurry up and lie down and rest.”

“I’m much better. I’m fine.”

After several days of recuperation, the scrape on the back of Luo Ke’s right hand had already scabbed over. It didn’t affect her much now, though the scab was a bit ugly. She had tried to cover it a few times but was scolded by Lin Sifei, who was afraid she would suffocate the wound.

Now, with gauze taped to her head and her left arm fractured and in a cast, Lin Sifei was naturally worried.

“This isn’t up to me. Second Uncle knows the contact was caught. He must be begging Grandma for help right now. In a little while, Grandma should be coming to summon me.”

She raised a hand and pointed at the door. Sure enough, the door was pushed open a crack, and a bodyguard said in a low voice, “There’s someone outside who claims to be the Luo family’s driver. Old Madam Luo is worried about her granddaughter and would like to see President Luo.”

Luo Ke raised an eyebrow at Lin Sifei, showing off her ability to predict matters as if a god16.

Lin Sifei didn’t even notice; she was completely consumed by anger. “This Old Madam Luo is ridiculous. Luo Ke has been lying in the hospital for so many days. Besides asking verbally at the very beginning, has she shown any other concern? You’re not even better yet, and she’s already in a hurry to have you go to her place. If she’s so concerned, she should come here herself!”

Lin Sifei sat fuming on the small sofa, turning her head to the side.

Luo Ke froze, not expecting her to be so angry. She went over and stroked her head. “Alright, alright, don’t be angry. I’m not even angry, what are you angry about?”

Lin Sifei dodged her hand and continued to stare out the window.

Luo Ke felt something was off. She cupped Lin Sifei’s face to make her look at her and, sure enough, saw that the tip of Lin Sifei’s nose was red and her cheeks were streaked with tears.

Lin Sifei felt a little ashamed and raised a hand to wipe her tears, but a low sobbing sound still escaped.

Luo Ke was a bit slow to react, staring blankly as Lin Sifei wiped her tears. Although she knew Lin Sifei liked her and cared about her, seeing Lin Sifei get angry at the Luo family on her behalf, seeing her so angry she cried…

Her heart began to thump, thump-thump, like a happy child at an amusement park, thump-thump, crashing against her chest.

Luo Ke raised a hand to cover her heart.

Ah, so Xiao Xiao loves her this much.

She couldn’t help but smile. It spread from the corners of her lips, to the corners of her eyes, to the tips of her brows. Every part of her face was smiling, telling a story of joy.

She reached out and cupped Lin Sifei’s face, looking at her lips, which were pressed white, and leaned down to kiss them.

So sweet. Like the cotton candy I ate the first time I ever went to an amusement park. A fluffy ball of pink cloud, so soft, as if it would carry me away. My heart leaped and cheered. I watched as the cotton candy was pulled into long threads before me, spun onto a stick, and placed in my hand.

She’s hers now.

Luo Ke opened her eyes and met Lin Sifei’s, which were shimmering with moisture. Just a pair of eyes, yet they conveyed a heart full of affection, and Luo Ke saw it all.

She’s hers now.
