Get Rid of Her for Me
I Have a Gift for You
The black sedan pulled over to the side of the road. Lin Sifei unbuckled her seatbelt and reached out to Luo Ke for a hug.
Luo Ke hugged her and gave her a kiss on the lips.
Lin Sifei clung to her without letting go. “I don’t want to go back. I just want to stay with you.”
Luo Ke’s fingers suddenly tightened. She sighed helplessly. “If you keep talking like that, I’m going to have to tie you up and take you back with me.”
Lin Sifei hesitated for a moment, then closed her mouth, hugging her without another word.
After they held each other like that for a while, Luo Ke patted her. “Alright, it’s about time.”
Lin Sifei hummed in agreement and turned to open the car door.
Luo Ke got out with her, standing by the door and watching her.
Lin Sifei pouted. “I still can’t bear to leave you.”
Luo Ke raised an eyebrow and reached out to grab her. Lin Sifei let out a laugh and turned to run onto the film set.
Luo Ke chased her for two steps, watching her back as she ran into the set. She stopped, a faint smile on her face, and only turned to open her car door after Lin Sifei had entered a room.
“President Luo.”
Luo Ke turned her head and saw a woman with short black hair. She frowned slightly. She remembered this person; she was the actress Lin Sifei had gone to pick out with her last time. “Is there something I can help you with?”
A delighted smile appeared on Feng Xiao’s face. “You still remember me!”
Luo Ke stood up straight. “I remember everyone around Xiao Xiao.”
Feng Xiao’s hands, held behind her back, couldn’t help but clench into fists. She smiled at Luo Ke, looking as if she were choking on dog food1. “Alright, alright. Actually, I came here this time to make a deal with President Luo.”
Luo Ke frowned at her, her expression cold. “I don’t think you have anything of value to trade with me.”
“Doesn’t President Luo want to know how Feifei-jie2 is doing on set? I can be your little spy. I just hope that you can give me more exposure during the follow-up promotions and more options for the next script.”
“It seems there’s something wrong with you.” Luo Ke sneered. “I’m no pervert. If I find out you’ve been secretly filming her, you’d better be able to bear the consequences.”
She opened the door, got in the car, and pulled on her seatbelt. “I’m warning you, stay away from her.”
The car started, and Feng Xiao gradually shrank into a dot in the distance until she was gone.
Luo Ke made a call to Li Jing. “There’s a woman with medium-short hair around Xiao Xiao, also an actress.”
“Is President Luo talking about Feng Xiao?” Li Jing proactively added, “I believe she was an actress Miss Lin personally sought out, but they seem to have some conflicts.”
“That’s her. Keep an eye on her.”
“Understood, President Luo.” Li Jing’s gaze shifted to Feng Xiao.
Feng Xiao had just returned. Noticing her gaze, she smiled back and walked over.
Li Jing hung up the phone and looked at Feng Xiao. “Is there something you need, Miss Feng?”
Feng Xiao smiled and waved her hand. “Nothing, I just came over to chat. It’s boring anyway.”
She glanced at Lin Sifei, who was in the middle of filming a scene. “How’s your salary? Feifei-jie doesn’t usually have other commitments, so it shouldn’t be too difficult, right?”
“I’m sorry, our salaries are confidential.”
“Oh, I see.” Feng Xiao scratched her head, embarrassed. “I think I just made the atmosphere even more serious.”
“There’s no need to be so formal with me, Miss Feng.” Li Jing maintained a cold expression the entire time; her tone and posture all screamed the words “stay away from me.”
Feng Xiao laughed. “You don’t have to call me Miss Feng. It feels too serious, it’s weird.”
Li Jing nodded once, but said nothing more. Feng Xiao made a few more attempts at an awkward chat3 before waving goodbye and leaving.
Li Jing glanced at her retreating back before continuing to focus on Lin Sifei on the set.
The location shoot would only last for three days; on the fourth day, they were scheduled to head back.
Luo Ke woke up from a nightmare with a start, the splattered blood feeling as if it were still on her face. She touched her cheek, looked at her fingers, and confirmed it was only sweat before letting out a long breath.
She propped her forehead up with her hand, picked up the phone from her bedside, and called Li Jing again.
“Watch Xiao Xiao closely. I’ve arranged for five others from your company; they’re already waiting at the airport. Remember, you are still in charge of primary protection. Only you know her secret. The others are for peripheral security.”
Li Jing frowned at her phone, not understanding why Luo Ke was so anxious as to send even more people over.
She walked to the door and hesitated for a moment before raising her hand to knock.
Lin Sifei was in the middle of packing her luggage. When she opened the door and saw it was her, she showed an expression of relief. “Come in, quick! I was just worrying about what to do with my luggage. I’m not very good at packing.”
Li Jing looked at the clothes strewn messily around the room and the already overstuffed suitcase. Her brow twitched. This wasn’t “not very good”; this was “completely clueless.”
She walked over to the suitcase, took everything out, and then reorganized it all neatly before putting it back in.
Seeing how much space was now left in the originally full suitcase, Lin Sifei was so shocked she applauded. “You’re amazing!”
Li Jing sighed helplessly and closed the suitcase. She stood up and looked at Lin Sifei.
“Miss Lin, there’s something I’d like to ask you to clarify.”
Lin Sifei tilted her head. “What is it?”
“Does Miss Lin truly not have any enemies? As bodyguards, we are bound by a top-level confidentiality agreement, so you can rest assured on that point. If I can’t grasp the specific situation and analyze who might be targeting you, it will be very difficult to provide targeted protection.”
Lin Sifei’s eyes widened in surprise. “I don’t have any enemies! Did you discover someone is trying to harm me?!”
“No, it’s just that President Luo seems to be overly worried about you.”
Lin Sifei thought for a moment, then suddenly smiled. “It’s probably because I offended those relatives of hers before, so she’s a little worried.”
“What kind of people are they?”
Lin Sifei waved her hand dismissively. “Just a bunch of useless straw bags4. They rely on Luo Ke for support but still want to order her around. They are greedy without ever being satisfied.”5
“People like that are usually very arrogant, but they lack any sophisticated methods. It’s highly likely they would resort to the most primitive form of revenge.”
“Primitive?”
Li Jing raised her eyes. “Murder.”
“This is bad, Director, the airport is full of fans, so packed that not even water could leak through!”6
Director Chen’s eyes widened upon hearing the news. “What did you say?! Who leaked the schedule!”
The group, having just gotten off the plane, stood quietly. No one spoke. Everyone knew that Director Chen hated having schedules leaked. For this shoot, he hadn’t even announced the cast. To be surrounded by fans like this clearly meant both the cast and the schedule had been leaked out.
“Could it be that we were spotted during the location shoot?” the assistant director asked in a low voice. “We were very careful, but it was a tourist spot, after all. We could have been photographed at the hotel we were staying at, too.”
“Then how did the schedule get leaked too!” Director Chen stood with his hands on his hips, fuming, as he glared at everyone present.
Everyone knew in their hearts and stomachs7: someone from the crew had leaked it.
“Everyone, wait a moment. We’ll leave through a side exit in a bit.” Director Chen pointed to a few of the actors. “You all go out in a moment. Push your own luggage, and don’t have your assistants follow.”
Everyone listened quietly and obediently. Only Li Jing raised her hand. “I’m very sorry, Director Chen. I must stay with Miss Lin. It’s a requirement of my contract.”
Director Chen shot her a glare and was about to refuse when Lin Sifei spoke up. “It’s fine. I’m not famous, and the media probably doesn’t have any photos of me. They won’t recognize me.”
Lin Sifei found a hair tie, gathered her hair at the ends, and folded it inward, turning her long hair into a short bob. She took out some makeup remover and wiped her face on the spot, then swapped her sunglasses for a pair of large-framed, non-prescription glasses.
“See? Perfect.” Lin Sifei blinked. With a hat pulled on, she really did look exceptionally ordinary, without a hint of a celebrity about her.
Feng Xiao glanced at her, then looked away.
They waited for a long time, but the fans outside still hadn’t dispersed. However, they weren’t as active as they had been initially, so it was possible to slip out through another exit.
Director Chen took some of the crew to attract the fans’ attention while the others made a run for it.
Li Jing had already messaged the other bodyguards. She carefully protected Lin Sifei as they walked out, spotted her colleagues at a glance, and waved at them.
Suddenly, Lin Sifei saw five tall, sturdy human walls appear around her, protecting her in the center as she was escorted into a car.
Lin Sifei sensed the flash of cameras. With this level of security, she was most likely being mistaken for a celebrity. But since no one recognized her, no one came to bother her.
Once safely in the car, Lin Sifei sent Luo Ke a message to let her know she was safe.
After such a long delay, it was already afternoon. By the time they ate and set up the equipment, there would be no time left for filming.
Director Chen sighed helplessly and sent a message in the group chat, telling everyone to go back and rest.
Lin Sifei was delighted and immediately called Luo Ke. “Do you have time to come back today?”
“Of course.” Luo Ke picked up her bag, leaving work early without a second thought. “Perfect timing. I have a gift for you.”
“A gift?” Lin Sifei’s eyes lit up. “What is it!”
“It wouldn’t be any fun if I told you.” Luo Ke chuckled softly. “We’ll talk when you get home. I have to drive now.”
“Okay.” Lin Sifei hung up reluctantly.
She looked at her phone, unable to stop a silly grin from spreading across her face. She covered her face, then quickly took out her makeup bag and started applying makeup in the car. Luo Ke was giving her a gift; she had to look her most beautiful to receive it.
In a private room at a certain hotel, Luo Shengping slapped a stack of cash on the table and pushed it toward the person across from him.
“This is the money for finding the information. Are you sure Lin Sifei is with this film crew?”
The person opposite him was wearing a floral shirt and holding a cigar. “Boss Luo, you can rest easy. My information is absolutely correct. This news came from that crew today. My people went to take a look, and they did indeed see the person you described.”
Luo Shengping, his belly sticking out, leaned back in his chair. “Then I’ll offer another million. Can you get rid of this person for me?”
He stared at the man in front of him. The other man smiled. “As long as your money is right, my people can certainly do it. I guarantee it won’t be traced back to you, Boss Luo.”
“Good.” Luo Shengping smiled as he opened a bottle of red wine and poured a glass for each of them. “As long as the job is done cleanly, I’ll give you another half a million.”
“Boss Luo is generous.”
