Going on Location1
If it is hard work2, tell me
The filming of the movie entered a white-hot3 stage. Lin Sifei spent increasingly long hours on the set, relying entirely on Li Jing to calculate the time and stick to the twelve-hour limit.
Arriving at the entrance of her home, Lin Sifei pressed her finger against the scanner.
“Di4——Front door unlocked.”
She pulled the door open and saw Luo Ke standing in the entryway.
“Why are you standing here?” Lin Sifei asked with her mouth, though her body was already tipping toward her.
Luo Ke caught her, reaching out helplessly to rub her head. “So tired? Otherwise, I will go talk to Director Chen, we don’t need to rush this much.”
“How would that work? Everyone’s time on the crew is precious. Furthermore, Director Chen has a new play to film afterward.”
Lin Sifei possessed a stubborn dedication and respect for her performing arts career5. Luo Ke understood this; she held her close and kissed her on the cheek.
“If you want to rest, just tell me.”
Lin Sifei nodded vigorously.
Luo Ke patted her shoulder. “Sit on the sofa. I’ll prepare you some honey water.”
Sitting on the sofa, Lin Sifei lay on a throw pillow, watching Luo Ke fiddle with a glass cup at the bar counter.
Luo Ke had just finished showering, and her blow-dried hair looked soft and fluffy. Even though she had already coiled up her hair, quite a few stray hairs had fallen loose. Under the light, the stray hairs looked like a layer of gray, misty gauze, veiling her countenance and obscuring Lin Sifei’s line of sight.
She struggled to open her eyes wide, trying to see clearly…
Luo Ke walked to the sofa holding the cup and saw Lin Sifei fast asleep.
She lightened her steps and placed the glass cup on the tea table6. She squatted halfway down, propping up her chin to look at Lin Sifei’s sleeping face.
She reached out to stroke Lin Sifei’s cheek, looking at her long eyelashes.
After watching for who knows how long, Luo Ke stood up, checked the time, and reached out to pat her shoulder. “Get up~”
Lin Sifei hummed twice and shrank back into the sofa.
Luo Ke helplessly pinched her cheek. “You haven’t removed your makeup, haven’t showered. Are you really going to sleep like this?”
“I want to sleep.” Lin Sifei, annoyed by the disturbance, kicked her legs twice.
Luo Ke dodged her little feet7 and reached her hand to her waist. “Creak creak8, are you getting up?”
“Hahaha.” Lin Sifei couldn’t help but laugh.
She opened her sleepy eyes and glared angrily at Luo Ke.
Luo Ke brought the honey water to her lips, coaxing her like a child. “Drink some water, take a shower, and then sleep. We’ll go sleep in the bed.”
Lin Sifei glared at her, accepting the cup and taking small sips.
Luo Ke maintained her posture close to her face, watching her finish the water in the cup like a kitten drinking water.
“Truly excellent.”
After finishing the cup of water, Lin Sifei had woken from her doze9. She glared at Luo Ke—did she take her for a child?
Luo Ke took the cup back and placed it on the table.
“Awake? Go shower?”
Lin Sifei nodded and extended her hands to her.
Luo Ke reached out to pull her up and kissed her on the lips; the sweet taste of honey drilled into the space between her lips and teeth.
Lin Sifei took half a step back and caught her breath. “I’m going to shower.”
“Go on.”
Lin Sifei stretched her waist and turned to go upstairs. Luo Ke went to rinse the cup clean and put it into the cabinet.
She dried her hands and went upstairs.
The sound of water came from the bathroom. Luo Ke sat on the bed. After sitting for a moment, she stood up, walked to the cloakroom10, opened the wardrobe, and began to pick inside.
She selected an outfit and hung it on the rack outside.
“Luo Ke?” Lin Sifei stood at the door of the cloakroom, wiping her hair. “You’re picking clothes for me.”
Luo Ke hummed an “En11” and stepped aside to reveal the skirt’s full appearance. “Does this outfit look good?”
“Good looking.” Lin Sifei smiled, revealing her teeth. “Right, I received a notice today. The crew is going on a field location shoot in two days. I don’t know where we’ll be running off to.”
“Filming what kind of field location?”
“One segment is a flagstone road12, so we’re going to a scenic area in the south. Another segment involves scenery in the mountains, but the location hasn’t been set yet.”
Luo Ke frowned in concern. “If you go into the mountains, it’s too dangerous.”
“Relax, we won’t actually go to desolate mountains and wild ridges. We’ll definitely go to scenic spots; it’s just a bit difficult to find spots with few people for filming.”
Luo Ke frowned and muttered to herself. It would still be better for her to confirm with Director Chen. At worst, she’d just spend a little more money.
“You are not allowed to go find Director Chen.” Lin Sifei saw through what she was thinking with one glance. “There is no need for you to spend that wronged money13.”
“What counts as wronged money? Besides, if the money is a bit more, won’t your final product be better?”
“Don’t. If you give him too much money, he’ll extravagantly make us shoot scenes over and over again. Then I’ll really be dead tired.” Lin Sifei pouted and couldn’t help yawning.
Seeing how sleepy she was, Luo Ke pulled her to the bedside and dried her hair for her. “If you go too far away, I can’t be by your side.”
“Don’t I still have an assistant with me?” Lin Sifei closed her eyes. “I’m actually worried about you. Be careful not to be deceived by those relatives.”
“I will be careful.” Luo Ke smiled.
She didn’t hear a reply from Lin Sifei. Looking closely, Lin Sifei had already fallen asleep.
Luo Ke turned off the hair dryer, carefully moved her legs, and stuffed a pillow in.
She stood up, looked at Lin Sifei’s sleeping face, and kissed her on the lips.
She took the quilt, covered Lin Sifei, then lay down beside her, wrapped her arm around her waist, and closed her eyes.
Director Chen quickly finalized the location and time for the exterior scenes.
Lin Sifei, carrying her luggage and wearing sunglasses, prepared to board the plane with the crew.
“Remember to send me a message every day after you finish filming. Don’t get too tired, and if the body is uncomfortable, you must tell Director Chen. Li Jing is with you; if you need any errands run, let her do it. Remember to calculate the time well and be careful not to exceed twelve hours.”
“I know, rest assured.” Lin Sifei swept a glance around, then flew a kiss onto her lips. “I’m leaving.”
She waved her hand and followed the crew’s line onto the plane.
The confidentiality of the crew’s travel was very good this time; no fans were following them, so everyone was relatively at ease.
Lin Sifei found her seat, sat down, put on her headphones, and prepared to sleep. Recently, she felt her sleep was insufficient, and her complexion wasn’t looking good.
Shortly after closing her eyes, she felt someone sit in the seat next to her. She opened her eyes and saw Chen Qiyuan wearing a high ponytail sitting in the seat, still holding a script in her hand, chanting words, her facial expressions very rich.
Lin Sifei watched her memorize lines with interest. After a while, she touched Chen Qiyuan’s foot with the tip of her foot and lowered her voice, “Rest well right now. There’s no rush for this moment.”
Chen Qiyuan glanced at her and pressed the script down. “Did I disturb you?”
“No, you didn’t make a sound.”
Chen Qiyuan heaved a sigh of relief, then promptly ignored her and continued memorizing lines.
Lin Sifei smiled. She had seen Chen Qiyuan act; she was still the old way—too tense.
She leaned closer to her. “I say to you, filming isn’t just about reading lines. You are from a professional class background14, I shouldn’t have to say more about these things. Relax a little. Occasional improvisation is allowed.”
“If I don’t memorize the script, how will I know what words to say?”
Lin Sifei “tsked.” “Every time you perform, you have to withdraw your brain15 to think of the lines. The explosion of emotions isn’t in place at all, which is why you have to start over again and again.”
“Doesn’t that just prove I haven’t memorized the lines well enough?” Chen Qiyuan cast a glance at her and studied the script even harder.
Lin Sifei helplessly leaned back into her seat and pulled down her eye mask to sleep.
Upon arriving at the filming location, Director Chen discussed room allocations with everyone in the nanny van16, smiling.
“Lin Sifei, you and Feng Xiao will stay next door. I hope you two can cultivate some feelings. This kind of love between sisters needs to be expressed.”
Lin Sifei yawned and raised her hand. “Director Chen, I feel my love is plenty. As for Feng Xiao, if she lives next door to me, I’m afraid it isn’t cultivating love, but hate.”
The nanny van fell into a dead silence. During their time filming together, everyone could see that Lin Sifei and Feng Xiao didn’t deal with each other, only no one knew the reason.
“Feng Xiao, what do you feel?”
Feng Xiao glared at Lin Sifei. Her face was taken down17, so naturally, she wouldn’t be polite either. “I also don’t want to be next to Fei-jie. Anyone else doesn’t matter.”
Director Chen looked at these two with worry. Clearly Feng Xiao was chosen by Lin Sifei herself, so why didn’t they deal with each other?
“Feng Xiao and Chen Qiyuan will be neighbors. Lin Sifei and the crew members will be neighbors.”
Lin Sifei had no opinion. She shrugged her shoulders and closed her eyes to rest again.
At night, Director Chen specifically sought out Lin Sifei for a talk, hoping she would release a little goodwill toward Feng Xiao.
“Director Chen speaks these words… She is the actor I selected; I took a fancy to her acting skills. Goodwill, I naturally have. The important thing is, she has to accept it.”
Lin Sifei pressed her temples; she didn’t want to worry about this matter anymore. She still had to change back into a cat to accumulate time duration, or else it would be hard to handle later on.
Director Chen hit a wall and, unwilling to give up, went to find Feng Xiao again.
Feng Xiao was still the old way—looking like she was holding back qi18, yet refusing to say anything. She wouldn’t speak and wouldn’t listen. Director Chen felt his tongue had been wasted in vain again.
Sure enough, the next day, filming the scenes between Lin Sifei and Feng Xiao got stuck just like the old way. Lin Sifei’s emotions were fine, but Feng Xiao’s emotions went wrong again. Separated by the screen, Director Chen could feel that surge of anger from Feng Xiao.
His fire also rose up. These two people had heavy roles. The parts filmed previously had all relied on grinding them out. If there was a bit wrong, they could only add extra lens shots to supplement the expression of sisterly affection. Now, after filming for so long, it was still like this.
“Lin Sifei, Feng Xiao, you get over here for me.”
Director Chen rolled the script into a tube shape. “Clarify this right in front of me now. What kind of hatred or grievance do you two have? To produce such a big contradiction.”
“No hatred or grievance.” Lin Sifei stood there lazily. “Feng Xiao wants to snatch my girlfriend.”
“Who wants to snatch your girlfriend?” Feng Xiao glared furiously at her.
“Yo, wasn’t the one who acted pitiful and acted pure to Luo Ke back then, looking like a little white rabbit19, you?” Lin Sifei snorted coldly. “Pity ah. Luo Ke doesn’t eat the little white rabbit type. Regret it?”
Feng Xiao’s pupils trembled slightly, and her lips pursed slightly. So President Luo doesn’t like that type.
“Look, thinking about it again, right?” Lin Sifei sneered. “Pity. Luo Ke is about to get engaged to me immediately. You have no chance.”
“Even married people can divorce, so what does an engagement count as?”
Looking at her provocative smile, Lin Sifei couldn’t help but puchi20 laugh out. “I look forward to you going to continue seducing her.”
With these words coming out, Director Chen finally understood. This contradiction was fighting over a Gold Master21; that was indeed a big contradiction.
“This…”
Lin Sifei directly interrupted him and looked toward Feng Xiao. “The one who chose you to enter the group back then was me, so if you film poorly, I admit it. Only, don’t be self-proclaimed high and noble22. bringing off-screen emotions into the play is a low-level error that explains you are also nothing more than this.”
Hearing this, Feng Xiao abruptly clenched her hand tightly and glared viciously at her.
Lin Sifei hooked her lips into a smile, flamboyant and self-contented. “If you want to deny it, then film it for me to see.”
