Time passed, second by second. After scratching her stockings, Lin Sifei lay on the floor, motionless again.

Luo Ke knelt on one knee worriedly and bent over to look at her. “What’s wrong?”

Just as she lowered her head, she heard a “peng” sound. White mist billowed up again, and Lin Sifei turned back into a human.

She looked up in delight, just in time to collide with Luo Ke.

“Aiya!” She clutched her forehead, her face scrunched up as she complained, “Why are you so close to me? That hurts.”

Luo Ke also clutched her own forehead. When she took her hand away, there was a red mark on it. “And now you’re blaming me? Wasn’t I just worried about you?”

Luo Ke rubbed her forehead, shooting her a reproachful glance.

Lin Sifei put her hands together and bowed apologetically. “I’m sorry!”

Luo Ke stood up, ruffled her hair, and checked the time. “Time’s almost up. Change back into a cat first, we’ll talk when we get out.”

Lin Sifei obediently transformed back, leaped onto her, and nestled there quietly. Luo Ke gathered up the clothes and walked out the door.

She was anxious to leave, wanting to know how Lin Sifei had mastered the method of transformation, but she was stopped by a waiter in the main hall.

“Hello, Miss Luo. This is a meal our boss packed for your cat. It’s all fresh meat, ready to eat when you get back.”

Lin Sifei’s head shot up, and she stared at the waiter. What’s with this Boss Fang? Didn’t he already confess and get rejected? Why is he still pestering her? Annoying, hmph!

Then she watched as Luo Ke reached out and took the packed box.

When they got home, Luo Ke plated the packed food and set it on the dining table. “Alright, you can turn into a person now. Let’s eat and talk.”

Lin Sifei changed back into a human, put on her clothes, and sat down at the table with a sullen face.

Luo Ke looked at her with a smile. “You can finally change between human and cat at will. Why do you have such worried brows and a bitter face?”

Lin Sifei stared at her. “That Boss Fang… what’s his relationship with you? He’s so accommodating, first agreeing to lend us a private room, and now sending food.”

“He confessed to me before, and I rejected him.” Luo Ke thought for a moment, then smiled. “He’s a friend of Bai Xingrui’s. He also likes to keep cats and dogs. I met him through Bai Xingrui, we’ve only seen each other a few times. When he confessed, I rejected him directly.”

“Really.” Luo Ke picked up a piece of fish for her. “Eat up, don’t worry.”

“You were the one overthinking things in the first place, and now you’re talking about ‘letting it go’,” Luo Ke muttered, looking at the cat whose eyes were sparkling as she ate. She shook her head helplessly. “Don’t just focus on eating. How on earth did you figure out how to change between human and cat at will?”

Lin Sifei tilted her head back and swallowed the meat. “Didn’t you say it was a 12-hour system? Maintaining a human body for 12 hours turns you back into a cat, and then you have to be a cat for 12 hours. I just thought, isn’t this like charging a phone? The standby time is 12 hours, and then it needs to charge for another 12 hours before you can use it again. So I figured, what if I just don’t use up all the battery? That night, the two lay in bed, each having set five alarms on their phones to prevent oversleeping in the morning.

“Let’s sleep early, try to wake up an hour earlier.”

Lin Sifei turned her head to look at her. “I can’t get up.”

Luo Ke took a deep breath. “You sleep. I’ll get up.”

Lin Sifei flashed a grin showing eight teeth. “Luo Ke, you’re the best. I’m going to sleep first, good night.”

Luo Ke watched her, then smiled up at the ceiling and closed her eyes.

In the morning, Luo Ke opened her eyes and immediately looked at her phone. The first alarm hadn’t gone off yet. She rubbed her eyes, sat up, and canceled all the alarms. She sat on the edge of the bed, watching Lin Sifei and handling some files on her laptop.

Time ticked by, and Lin Sifei rolled over. Luo Ke looked at her, thinking she had woken up. She watched her face.

Lin Sifei’s brows twitched. She smacked her lips and lifted a leg, draping it over Luo Ke.

Luo Ke shook her head helplessly and continued to work on her files. Soon, Lin Sifei’s arms wrapped around her as well. Luo Ke tried to pull her arm away, but Lin Sifei just whimpered as if she were about to cry and buried her head in Luo Ke’s stomach.

“Xiaoxiao, Feifei, time to get up.”

“Mmm~” Lin Sifei kicked her legs and continued to sleep.

Luo Ke sighed helplessly, picked up her phone, and set an alarm for one minute later. She placed the phone next to Lin Sifei’s ear. A moment later, the phone began to vibrate, and the alarm rang.

Lin Sifei shot up. “Am I still human? Am I?”

She felt her head, her neck, and her chest, then let out a long sigh of relief. “Thank goodness, still human.”

“You probably don’t count as human anymore,” Luo Ke said, shifting her legs.

Lin Sifei looked down and saw that she was sprawled quite heroically over Luo Ke. She quickly pulled her legs back. “Ahem, that was an accident.”

Lin Sifei sat up and ran her fingers through her hair. “What time is it?”

“It’s half an hour to seven. We’ll wait a bit.”

Sure enough, at 7:15, Lin Sifei turned into a cat with a “peng”. She licked her lips, then raised a paw to give Luo Ke a high-five.

Luo Ke checked the time. “Next, we need to test if the time as a human can be stacked if you change back to a cat for an hour to recharge before the 12 hours are up.”

Lin Sifei’s eyes narrowed, her hind legs tensed, and she suddenly leaped.

Their lips met, and a beautiful woman appeared before her. Lin Sifei’s lips curved into a smile as she wrapped her arms around Luo Ke’s neck.

“Isn’t having me as your girlfriend a gain enough? Hmm?”

She winked her left eye and placed a light kiss on Luo Ke’s lips.
