Friendly Interaction with the Female Lead
Believe it or not, I’ll bite you to death.
Lin Sifei was so full of regret she wanted to swallow her own paws. She should have taken a better look just now; she didn’t even remember the woman’s face.
Lin Sifei beat her chest and stomped her feet1 for a while before it dawned on her. The big deal that Special Assistant Lin mentioned must be the project the female lead participated in in the original book. Later, the female lead lost the entire proposal that the department had stayed up all night to complete, along with the presentation USB drive2, and directly tanked the project.
It was this very project that caused the female lead’s situation in the company to hit rock bottom. In the end, it was Brother Number One who came out to take over the partnership, which saved the company from a major loss. However, the department’s employees harbored resentment toward the female lead and never looked at her favorably afterward.
Lin Sifei narrowed her eyes. She hadn’t expected a plot point to arrive so quickly. This time, the female lead’s mistake was so huge that firing her would be completely justified. She had to seize this opportunity.
Lin Sifei rubbed her paws together, her mind already picturing a future where, after driving the female lead away, she would conquer the villain and from then on, live a life where when clothes come, she extends her hands; when food comes, she opens her mouth3.
“Special Assistant Lin, what’s wrong with President Luo’s cat? It’s not having a seizure, is it?”
The laughing expression on Lin Sifei’s face froze, and she turned to glare at Xiao Zhao. You’re the one with a problem! Can’t a cat be happy?
“She’s glaring at me, as if she can understand,” Xiao Zhao said, pointing her out to Special Assistant Lin in amazement.
Lin Sifei turned around in a huff, presenting her butt to her.
After lying down for a while, Lin Sifei couldn’t suppress the restlessness in her heart. She wanted to see the female lead again. According to the book, the female lead was supposed to be a very kind girl. If she could get adopted by her, she wouldn’t have to worry about food or clothing in the future, and she wouldn’t have to worry about her owner4 going bankrupt.
She glanced at Zhao Min. The woman was leaning over Special Assistant Lin’s computer, pointing at the screen and saying something.
Lin Sifei took a deep breath and leaped. Pattering on her short legs, she sprinted all the way to the conference room door and carefully hid behind a flowerpot.
Before long, the conference room door opened. Lin Sifei was a bit surprised; the female lead was actually leaving early.
She narrowed her eyes and smiled. Heaven is helping me5.
Yan Yafei had given a simple report in the conference room, but that President Luo had asked a ton of questions. The team hadn’t even worked out the answers to those questions yet, so how would she know?
“Meow~ Meow~”
A faint meow came from behind the potted plant. She looked over and saw a small cat looking up and calling out to her, its cries soft and fluffy.
“Isn’t this that Zhao Min’s cat?” Yan Yafei walked over. Seeing the kitten reach out a paw to touch her, she suddenly lifted her foot and kicked the cat, sending it tumbling to the ground.
The kitten’s cries came to an abrupt halt. It rolled over on the floor and stared at her, dumbfounded.
“Pfft!” She let out a frustrated laugh. “Just a secretary, who does she think she’s looking down on.”
She raised her foot to kick again, but the cat had already nimbly darted into a gap behind the planter. Yan Yafei “tsked” and reached in to grab it.
Lin Sifei was so scared her whole body went stiff. How could the female lead be so vicious? Taking out your anger on a cat, have you no shame?
Unfortunately, the space behind the planter was limited, and she couldn’t squeeze through. Yan Yafei’s hand shot out, grabbed her by the hind leg, and yanked her out, lifting her up.
“Mrowl!” Lin Sifei curled her body and opened her mouth to bite the hand.
Yan Yafei quickly let go. Lin Sifei had only run a few steps before she was scooped up from behind.
“Still running!” Yan Yafei’s smile was exceptionally gentle, a gentleness that made one’s blood run cold.
“Yan Yafei.” A cool voice sounded from behind them.
Hearing the familiar voice, Lin Sifei felt like crying on the spot. She kicked her legs, struggling to break free.
Luo Ke handed the folder in her hand to the secretary beside her and held out her arms. “This is my cat. Can you return her to me?”
Yan Yafei froze for a moment, then puffed up her cheeks. “Oh, so it’s President Luo’s cat. She’s so beautiful. I thought she was a stray and was thinking of taking her home.”
“Then it seems I’m not doing a very good job of raising her, if she can be mistaken for a stray.”
“No, no, that’s not what I meant.”
“I know.” Luo Ke took Lin Sifei and stroked her fur, getting a handful of dirt. She frowned.
Yan Yafei hurriedly explained, “She ran behind the planter just now. She must have brushed against the dirt.”
Luo Ke gave a slight nod and walked away, holding the cat.
Lin Sifei clung to Luo Ke’s arm aggrievedly, meowing nonstop as she cursed the female lead’s shamelessness. Her hind leg still hurt. The book clearly described a kind girl; did this behavior have the slightest connection to kindness?!
She cursed to her heart’s content. The people around her couldn’t understand, only thinking that her constant meowing was very cute.
Luo Ke scratched her under the chin, walked to the secretary’s desk, and tapped on it.
Zhao Min and Special Assistant Lin both stood up. “President Luo.”
Their eyes immediately fell on the cat in Luo Ke’s arms. Zhao Min’s face changed, and she pressed her lips together.
Luo Ke: “Have you decided on the punishment?”
Zhao Min looked devastated. “Deduct this month’s bonus.”
“Be more serious next time you handle things.” Luo Ke turned and walked toward her office.
Lin Sifei, draped over her arm, craned her neck to look at Zhao Min. Seeing her with her head lowered, she felt a little bad. She had caused someone to lose their bonus.
Pulling open the door, Luo Ke looked back again. “I’ll give you a chance to make up for your mistake with a good deed. Come in.”
Zhao Min’s eyes lit up instantly. She grabbed her tablet and followed her inside.
Lin Sifei looked up at Luo Ke’s expressionless face and her mouth curled up slightly. It was better to stick with the villain; the villain was so gentle.
With that thought, she buried her head in Luo Ke’s arms.
Zhao Min followed her into the office and stood awkwardly in the middle. “President Luo, what do you need me to do?”
Luo Ke sat in her office chair and pointed at Lin Sifei, who was currently shaking her fur. “How do I make it not look like a stray cat?”
Zhao Min shook her head repeatedly. “President Luo’s cat is so cute, how could it possibly look like a stray?” Her will to live6 was extremely strong.
After a second, it dawned on her. “Why don’t you get a tag for the cat, President Luo? You can have your name and phone number engraved on it. That way, if she gets lost in the future, it’ll be convenient for someone to return her.”
Luo Ke nodded. “That’s acceptable.”
“I’ll go get one custom-made then.” She happily turned to leave, then suddenly remembered something and turned back. “President Luo, what’s the cat’s name?”
Luo Ke frowned. “It doesn’t have a name.”
Zhao Min’s smile froze. She nodded stiffly. “Alright, then I’ll just have President Luo’s surname engraved.”
She was very efficient; the cat tag arrived that afternoon. It was a red collar with a gold-plated tag. On the front was a massive character for “Luo,” and on the back was a phone number.
Lin Sifei’s expression cracked as she looked at the tacky cat tag. She would absolutely not allow such a tacky thing to be worn around her neck, absolutely not!
And then she was pressed onto the desk by Luo Ke and had it forcefully fastened on.
Lin Sifei kicked her legs while cursing a blue streak. Luo Ke pinched the scruff of her neck and held one hand against her nose. “Are you cursing me?”
Lin Sifei instantly shut up, her tongue darting out to nervously lick the corner of her mouth.
Luo Ke let go. Lin Sifei immediately ran to the side, shaking her head and twisting her neck, managing to create the feeling of a lion dance7.
After a period of struggle, there wasn’t the slightest sign of the collar loosening. She gave up completely, flopping onto the desk in exhaustion.
Luo Ke retracted her gaze, satisfied, and continued to tap away at the keyboard.
Lin Sifei meowed out of boredom, dedicated to distracting her from her work. Luo Ke glanced up at her, rummaged in a cabinet, and tossed her a fountain pen to play with.
After batting the pen around for a while, Lin Sifei stood up, walked over to the keyboard, and placed a paw on it.
Luo Ke didn’t react. She crawled forward a bit more, still no reaction. She crawled forward again, this time blocking half the keyboard. Luo Ke finally moved, picking her up and placing her to the side.
Lin Sifei narrowed her eyes, reached out her paws to hug Luo Ke’s hand, and rubbed her head against it. Luo Ke snatched her hand back with a whoosh.
Lin Sifei giggled. Luo Ke’s tolerance for her was quite high. Other than not letting her rub against her, and despite looking so cold and stone-faced, she didn’t actually get angry at all.
Having figured out Luo Ke’s true nature, Lin Sifei grew even more audacious, happily strolling around on the desk.
It seemed that her winning over Luo Ke was an achievement whose day could soon be pointed to8. In the future, she would be a tycoon’s cat.
