To Take Advantage of Someone’s Peril1
It’s not the kitty’s fault, the kitty is innocent.
Lin Sifei patted her face in disbelief, running her hands up and down her arms and legs. The joy of having them back made her roll around on the bed in excitement.
“Hiss—” Suddenly, she sucked in a sharp breath of cold air, a throbbing pain radiating from her tailbone.
She reached behind her and pulled out a long tail.
Silence spread through the bedroom. As if to assert its own existence, the tail abruptly whipped itself out of her hand.
Lin Sifei pounced on it resentfully and grabbed it, holding it in a tight grip.
The tail hurt a little and began to move in spite of itself.
As everyone knows, a cat and its tail are two different creatures.2
Lin Sifei took a deep breath, grabbed her tail, and scurried into the walk-in closet, standing before the full-length mirror.
The girl in the mirror was stark naked3, her fair skin glowing under the light. A familiar body, a familiar face, but with two extra things that shouldn’t be there.
Lin Sifei’s mouth fell open in shock. She dazedly let go of her tail and raised a hand to touch the ears on top of her head.
“No way!” She gave one a hard tug and immediately cried out in pain. Without a doubt, the ears were hers. She lifted her long hair; her human ears were also there.
Lin Sifei fell silent. She had four ears? Was she really a demon?
She really didn’t like this look; it was too humiliating, like she was engaged in some weird kind of PLAY4.
She pressed down on the cat ears, muttering under her breath, “Disappear, disappear…”
But the ears remained. She sighed in disappointment.
The excitement of turning back into a human gradually faded, and the physical discomfort she had ignored earlier surged back.
Even after becoming human, I can’t escape being in heat? She felt even more ashamed, watching herself in the mirror gradually turn red.
She averted her eyes and pulled open the door of the walk-in closet.
“Xiao Xiao? I called Dr. Li. He’ll be here in a bit to check on you.”
Almost simultaneously, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Luo Ke’s voice sounded.
Lin Sifei’s mind was instantly filled with a stream of ‘holy shit’5. Luo Ke had only just accepted that she was a dream-visiting cat demon, and now she was going to be confronted with her transforming into a living person?!
Most importantly, she wasn’t wearing any clothes!
Although the walk-in closet was full of clothes, she clearly didn’t have time to put any on right now.
Lin Sifei turned her head and saw herself in the mirror, eyes misty and cheeks flushed pink. She absolutely could not let Luo Ke see her in this state.
She looked around the walk-in closet anxiously, and finally, gritting her teeth, she dove into a wardrobe. After sliding the door shut, she messed up a pile of clothes to cover herself, clamped a hand over her mouth, and stared wide-eyed with worry.
Luo Ke pushed open the door, holding an open can of cat food. She had just called Dr. Li to schedule a house call; he would probably arrive in a few minutes.
“Xiao Xiao?” Her eyes scanned the bed, but she didn’t see Xiao Xiao.
She hurriedly looked around, even checking under the bed, but still nothing. “Strange, where did Xiao Xiao go?”
Luo Ke knelt on the floor, and her eyes suddenly landed on the slightly ajar door of the walk-in closet. Her gaze sharpened as she looked back at the bed. The sheets and quilt had clearly been disturbed, but they weren’t particularly messy, not like a cat had clawed at them.
There was someone in the room, and they were probably hiding in the walk-in closet.
Her face darkened. She reached under her pillow and pulled out a dagger.
Clutching the dagger, Luo Ke carefully pushed open the door to the walk-in closet. It was completely quiet inside, not a single sound.
Luo Ke’s expression grew even grimmer. Xiao Xiao was not a well-behaved cat, yet there wasn’t even a meow. Could it be…
She tightened her grip on the dagger, stepped into the walk-in closet, and scanned the area, her eyes settling on the only wardrobe large enough to hide a person.
The wardrobe’s sliding doors were made of glass. The person inside was crouching; if she moved forward to open the door, her abdomen would be easily exposed.
A glint flashed in her eyes. She strode over to the curtains and yanked them open. As the curtains rustled, Luo Ke scraped the dagger against the nearby chest of drawers, the tip of the blade making a kalala sound against the wood.
She circled the wardrobe, constantly getting closer, constantly making noise. She was betting that the person in the wardrobe was weak; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been exposed so easily.
Lin Sifei hid in the wardrobe, wrapped in a pile of clothes. The different fabrics rubbing against her body brought waves of new stimulation.
Her body was growing more and more sensitive. She was afraid of Luo Ke discovering her, yet she was being tormented by her body’s reactions, her temperature steadily rising. She wanted to move, wanted to be held, wanted…
“Kalala—” The harsh sound exploded next to her ear. Lin Sifei’s eyes shot open, a sliver of clarity struggling to break through their hazy depths.
She swallowed. What was that sound? Was it Luo Ke? I think she was looking for me just now. Why isn’t she going downstairs? She hasn’t left the bedroom to look for me, which is the only way I can come out and at least find something to wear.
The sound continued, accompanied by footsteps drawing nearer and nearer.
Lin Sifei tilted her head in confusion. Suddenly, she shivered as a memory of the first time she had snuck into Luo Ke’s bedroom flashed through her mind. Under Luo Ke’s pillow, there seemed to be… a dagger!
Her mind went blank. Listening closely again, the sound was unmistakably that of a sharp blade scraping against wood.
N-no way. Just for hiding for a bit, is my life going to be in danger?
Lin Sifei swallowed, grabbed a piece of clothing to cover her chest, and placed a trembling hand on the sliding door. After three deep breaths, she yanked the door open.
“I’M XIAO XIAO!”
Lin Sifei squeezed her eyes shut and yelled. The room fell silent. She cautiously opened one eye and saw the sharp blade in front of her, shrinking back in fright.
“Don’t move!” Luo Ke’s face was grim. “Who are you?”
Lin Sifei pressed her legs tightly together, frozen with tension. “I-I’m the cat you’re raising! I’m a cat demon! I’ve cultivated a human form!”
Luo Ke’s eyes darkened slightly. “You think I’d believe your bullshit?”
“It’s true!” Lin Sifei reached a hand behind her back.
Luo Ke’s dagger moved closer to her neck. “Don’t move.”
Lin Sifei was on the verge of tears. “Th-then let me out. I have ears and a tail.”
With her life threatened, Lin Sifei’s voice trembled. Luo Ke took a small step back, and Lin Sifei bent over to crawl out of the wardrobe. She held a piece of clothing in front of her body with one hand, blushing red from head to toe in shame.
Luo Ke stared at her in shock. A pair of cat ears twitched and fluttered, and even her back was completely flushed. Finally, she saw a long tail appear before her eyes.
She couldn’t resist reaching out to grab the tail and giving it a tug.
“Ow! That hurts!” Lin Sifei slapped her arm and glared at her.
The tips of Luo Ke’s ears turned slightly red as she slowly let go. “I was just verifying its authenticity.”
“You want me to give you a QR code to scan, too?” Lin Sifei rolled her eyes and climbed up from the floor.
Since she had already lost all face, there was no point in being shy anymore.
Luo Ke glanced at her and gave a dry cough. “If you were going to turn human, just turn human. Why did you have to hide? You scared me. I thought something had happened to you.”
It would have been better if she hadn’t mentioned it. Now that she had, Lin Sifei felt another wave of heat surge through her body.
She clutched the clothes in front of her. “I-I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to accept it. Let’s not talk about it. I-I’m going to put on some clothes first.”
“Right. I’ll get you some clothes.” Luo Ke’s ears were now completely red.
She turned toward the wardrobe. Lin Sifei’s face instantly flushed, and she grabbed her. “I messed that side up. Look in another wardrobe.”
Luo Ke didn’t think much of it and turned to open another wardrobe.
Lin Sifei shuffled over, her eyes peeking inside. I… I didn’t get the clothes dirty, did I? Maybe it’s better to wash them all.
She turned her head and looked at the window. Behind the drapes was a layer of blackout curtains, so she wasn’t worried about being exposed. But perhaps because the room was so sealed off, Lin Sifei felt even hotter than before.
Lin Sifei stared at the window, her consciousness gradually drifting away.
“Wear this one.” Luo Ke turned around, holding a set of clothes.
Lin Sifei snapped back to reality and looked at her. Her throat moved twice as she took the clothes. After handing them over, Luo Ke just stood there, watching her.
After a moment, she looked at Luo Ke. “A-aren’t you going to step out?”
Only then did Luo Ke come to her senses, her face flushing uncontrollably. “Sorry, I forgot. I’ll leave right now.”
Lin Sifei quickly threw on the clothes, then looked around, unable to find any tissues.
Her face bright red, she closed her eyes and finished dressing, then walked toward the door. The feeling of the fabric rubbing against her body made her tremble.
“I-I’m ready.”
Luo Ke glanced at her and smiled. “Then let’s go downstairs to eat. We haven’t had lunch yet. You must be hungry.”
How could Lin Sifei possibly be in the mood to eat? She felt it was a testament to her incredible willpower that she was even able to stand. Why was this heat so much worse as a human than as a cat?
“N-no, I want to take a shower.”
She turned to head for the bathroom, and Luo Ke followed worriedly behind her.
“Are you really okay? I feel like you’re not very comfortable.” She placed a hand on Lin Sifei’s shoulder, and her eyes widened. “You’re trembling? What’s wrong?”
Not only was Lin Sifei’s body shaking, but the ears on her head were trembling violently. Anyone who didn’t know better would think she’d been electrocuted.
Luo Ke watched as her cat ears turned visibly red and cupped her face worriedly. “Do you have a fever?”
Lin Sifei’s eyes widened as she watched Luo Ke lean in closer and closer, brush the hair from her forehead, stroke her cheek, and then press her own forehead against hers.
That fragrance enveloped her again, invading her nose, her brain, her entire body.
Lin Sifei’s eyelashes drooped slightly, and she couldn’t help but want to let out a moan. “I-I’m fine. I want to take a shower.”
Luo Ke grew even more concerned. Touching her arm, she found it was genuinely hot. “You probably do have a fever. You shouldn’t hide your sickness and shun the doctor6. After you see the doctor, I’ll get you something delicious to eat, okay?”
Lin Sifei pouted. “Are you coaxing a child?”
“I’m coaxing my kitty.” Luo Ke ruffled her hair, her fingers brushing past each of her cat ears.
A jolt went through Lin Sifei’s entire body, and she finally couldn’t hold back a soft moan.
Her eyes immediately flew open, and she clapped a hand over her mouth.
Luo Ke’s expression was a little strange. “Xiao Xiao, you…”
Lin Sifei slapped a hand over Luo Ke’s mouth as well.
Luo Ke pulled her hand away. “Stop messing around. Be good and see the doctor.”
After speaking, she frowned again. “The Dr. Li I called is a veterinarian. Can you still turn back into a cat? Or maybe you can hide your ears, and I’ll find you a human doctor.”
Only then did Lin Sifei remember about Dr. Li. Even if he didn’t examine her, just a few words of description and he would definitely know it was her heat. Aaaah! Then one more person would know she was in heat!
“I’m not seeing him!” Lin Sifei stomped her foot angrily.
But her body was weak, and even her stomp was soft, leaving her to just squirm.
Luo Ke was still insistent. “You have to. You have a fever.”
Lin Sifei suddenly felt incredibly wronged and gave her a push. “I said I’m not seeing him! I’m in heat! What is there to see?! Isn’t that embarrassing enough?!”
Seeing the astonished look in Luo Ke’s eyes, Lin Sifei’s sense of shame completely erupted, and she bit her lip and started to cry.
Luo Ke helplessly wiped her tears. “I-I didn’t know. In that case, we won’t see the doctor.”
The moment she was comforted, Lin Sifei’s emotions completely broke down, and she couldn’t hold back her sobs.
Luo Ke wiped her tears, comforting her softly as she helped her sit on the bed. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone has these thoughts.”
“I-it’s n-not the same. This is… my heat. I-I don’t want this.” Lin Sifei cried with choked sobs. Just as she was feeling wronged, another wave of faint discomfort washed over her, causing the pitch of her crying to change.
Luo Ke’s face flushed slightly. “Y-you should lie down for a bit.”
Lin Sifei pulled the covers over herself, hiding her face.
Luo Ke picked up her phone and searched for what to do when a cat is in heat. Unsurprisingly, she saw the same suggestion about cotton swabs.
She gave a dry cough and glanced at the large lump under the covers. This… cotton swabs probably wouldn’t work.
She covered her lips with one hand, contemplating whether she should go out and buy some supplies.
Just as she was thinking, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Lin Sifei jumped as if startled, her ears twitching. From under the covers, a pair of wet eyes peeked out. “Wh-who is it?”
Luo Ke: “It should be Dr. Li.”
Lin Sifei’s eyes instantly widened, her ears rapidly flushing with blood. “I-I’m not seeing him.”
“Of course you’re not.” Luo Ke quickly soothed her. “I’ll go tell him to leave. Wait for me for a moment.”
After speaking, Luo Ke bent down to pat her head and turned to leave the room.
Lin Sifei lay limp on the bed. Luo Ke touched my ears again just now. She did that on purpose, didn’t she!
She covered her head. Although she didn’t want to admit it, it felt really good. And the scent on Luo Ke’s body—it wasn’t perfume, it was just her natural scent, a fragrance that could stir her up even more.
She covered her head in despair, clutching the quilt even tighter.
Luo Ke quickly sent Dr. Li away, then leaned against the front door for a moment before finally sighing. She grabbed her coat, went out, and followed her phone’s navigation to the nearest shop to buy some small toys.
She had never bought this kind of thing before and had relied entirely on the shopkeeper’s recommendations, with no idea if they would be any good.
When she got home, she ran upstairs with the paper bag and pushed open the bedroom door. The room was filled with a faint, elusive scent. It was very light, not a perfume, but not unpleasant either. Luo Ke didn’t know how to describe it.
She walked over to Lin Sifei and placed the paper bag on the nightstand. “I’m back. I bought some things.”
Under the covers, Lin Sifei bit her lower lip and slowly pulled down a corner of the quilt.
Seeing what Luo Ke was holding, her entire body turned pink. “I-I don’t know how.”
“There’s an instruction manual.” Luo Ke hurriedly went to open it.
Lin Sifei took it with a trembling hand, but the dense block of tiny words on it simply wouldn’t enter her brain, and even the diagrams were a blur.
Lin Sifei started crying again out of shame.
Luo Ke bent down, at a loss, and patted her head to comfort her.
Lin Sifei shivered, her toes curling into the bedsheets, and stammered, “D-don’t touch my… ears.”
Luo Ke’s face instantly turned red, and she awkwardly withdrew her hand. “Sorry.”
She looked at the teary-eyed Lin Sifei and, for some reason, couldn’t help but look away.
Lin Sifei’s mind was a complete mess. She felt like the scent from Luo Ke’s body had grown stronger. She couldn’t help but lick her dry lips. “Y-you, come closer to me.”
Luo Ke bent down, her face red.
Lin Sifei wrapped her arms around her waist, her voice tiny. “You smell so good.”
For some reason, Luo Ke also shivered and looked down at her in surprise.
Lin Sifei lay on the bed, her eyes wide, reflecting Luo Ke’s image within them.
………………
Night fell, and a little light from the streetlamps outside filtered in. Lin Sifei opened her swollen eyes and smacked her lips. So thirsty.
She rubbed her eyes and propped herself up on her arms, trying to get up.
“What’s wrong?” A familiar voice came from beside her.
Hearing the voice, Lin Sifei gave up on the difficult task of sitting up and flopped back down. “I want some water.”
Immediately, the sound of someone walking barefoot, followed by the sound of running water, filled the dim room.
Lin Sifei hugged her pillow and mumbled, “Silly fool7, walking around barefoot. Aren’t you afraid of your feet getting cold?”
A light chuckle sounded by her ear. Luo Ke brushed the long hair from her face, sat down beside her, and supported her shoulders. “Here, drink some water.”
Lin Sifei opened her eyes a crack, looked at the glass, and frowned. “What kind of cat do you have that can stick its tongue into a glass to drink water!”
After her angry complaint, she suddenly froze. Her eyes shot wide open as she whipped her head around to look at Luo Ke beside her.
Luo Ke smiled and offered the glass forward a little. “You’ve cultivated a human form, you silly little cat.”
Lin Sifei’s brain crashed. She dazedly took the glass, dazedly brought it to her lips, and dazedly gulped it down.
Luo Ke watched her finish the entire glass and took it back. “Want more?”
Lin Sifei shook her head, her eyes vacant.
Luo Ke went to pour herself a glass of water and tilted her head back to drink it.
Lin Sifei watched her drink, her fingers touching her own lips. Did she… not use a different glass?
Luo Ke’s eyes shifted slightly, noticing her gaze. She put the glass down. “What’s wrong? Looking so dazed? Still not fully awake?”
Lin Sifei looked at her smiling face, and certain scenes from the afternoon flashed through her mind. Her little heart trembled slightly, and she felt her body start to heat up again.
She quickly averted her gaze and nodded. “I think I’m still a little sleepy.”
“You’re probably tired. Go back to sleep for a while.” Luo Ke arranged her pillow and quilt, then patted her on the head.
Her fingers brushed against a cat ear. The ear couldn’t help but twitch, then shake, as if trying to flick her hand away.
Luo Ke’s eyes narrowed slightly. The ears aren’t trembling. Looks like she’s fine now. Her hand slid down, past Lin Sifei’s cheek, and she suddenly gave one of her human ears a little pinch.
“So cute. Sleep well.”
Lin Sifei’s expression was calm. She gave a silent nod and closed her eyes.
The moment she heard the door close, Lin Sifei’s eyes snapped open, and she grabbed the cat ears on her head in despair.
WHAT! DID! SHE! DO!
AH! I! WANT! TO! DIE!
What was Luo Ke thinking! Why did she have to do… that! Couldn’t she have just left… that thing and gone? Then they wouldn’t have had to do… that! So why in the world did they do… that!
Lin Sifei rubbed her ears, her mind helpfully replaying the scenes for her even as she was having a breakdown.
She whimpered and clutched the corner of the quilt, trying hard to shove the images out of her mind.
She took a deep breath and came to a conclusion. It was all Luo Ke’s fault. Taking advantage of someone’s peril. She would absolutely not take any responsibility.
Lin Sifei, who wanted to be a scum8 after getting what she wanted, completely ignored the fact that she was the one who had asked the other person to come closer, the one who had wrapped her arms around the person’s waist and refused to let go.
Don’t ask. If you ask, she was delirious and doesn’t remember a thing.
Downstairs, Luo Ke sat on the sofa, her open laptop on her lap. Notifications for new emails were constantly popping up.
But President Luo, who was supposed to be working, was staring into space. She pressed her thumb to her lips and suddenly broke into a smile.
It was sweet. She narrowed her eyes.
The author has something to say:
Feifei: To make a move on a mere cat, it fully proves this person is a pervert. The kitty is innocent, the kitty is the victim, the kitty knows nothing.
President Luo: My [with emphasis] cat is right.
