A Little Spank

Have I wronged you? Hmm?

Lin Sifei was exceptionally shy. She had finally gotten to see a different kind of beauty in President Luo, and felt that this trip to the pool had been well worth it.

She stretched her legs, playfully splashing in the water.

Luo Ke had just been diving underwater to find the cat tag Lin Sifei had lost. She put it back on for her and scratched her under the chin.

“Want to get a new one? This one doesn’t have a name on it.”

Lin Sifei shook her head frantically. No way. The name Xiao Xiao was just too thoughtless. It was one thing to be called that casually, but if it were actually engraved, she would definitely go crazy.

Sensing her resistance, Luo Ke didn’t press the issue and simply lay back on the water’s surface to play with her.

Lin Sifei got lazy and paddled over to her stomach, standing on it like a boat. Luo Ke smiled helplessly and flicked a finger, splashing her in the face with water.

After their swim, they took the opportunity to shower there. Lin Sifei felt refreshed from head to toe, and even felt a lot more graceful as the car’s air conditioning blew on her.

When they arrived home, Luo Ke parked the car at the entrance and first carried the pile of things she had bought into the house.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Lin Sifei watched her carry a cardboard box inside and clicked her tongue in resignation. Luo Ke was just too gullible. As soon as that staff member started their sales pitch, she bought everything.

She shook her head in a worldly-wise manner, as if forgetting how she herself had been clinging to the glass counter, unable to walk away.

Lin Sifei saw that there was a lot in the trunk and figured it would be a while, and it was uncomfortable waiting in the car. She glanced at Luo Ke, and while she wasn’t looking, opened the door and jumped out.

The car wasn’t that high. She landed steadily on the ground, her nose filling with the scent of fresh grass from nearby.

A dragonfly hovered in front of her eyes. She lifted a paw, but swiped at empty air. The feline instinct to pounce on things surged, and she couldn’t help but chase after the dragonfly.

After rolling around in the grass a couple of times, she shook off the bit of dirt on her fur and looked up, trying to get her bearings from within a patch of grass that was half a head taller than her.

Looking at the grass, a flash of spiritual light struck¹ Lin Sifei. She pushed off with her front paws and stood up. Unfortunately, she wasn’t very familiar with this maneuver and fell back down after only a second, but she had still managed to see the location of the house.

She trotted in that direction. Her head had just poked out of the grass when she saw a car pull up not far away. A man in a suit got out and opened the passenger-side door.

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened. Oh my god, who is that? Isn’t that Yan Yafei? What is she doing here?

Her heart pounded. She couldn’t let the female lead discover her, otherwise the consequences would be unbearable to imagine².

She ducked her head, about to retreat into the grass, but just as the female lead was getting out of the car, she happened to glance her way.

Lin Sifei saw the female lead’s movements stiffen. She froze too, her whole body tensing, ready to show her claws at any moment.

“You like cats?” The man beside Yan Yafei raised an eyebrow slightly.

Yan Yafei snapped back to her senses and smiled. “Yes, I like them a lot.”

“Then I’ll buy you one.”

“No, no.” Yan Yafei waved her hands repeatedly and lowered her head, a little embarrassed. “I’m too clumsy, I can’t take good care of a cat. It’s better if it doesn’t have to suffer with me.”

“Then we’ll raise it together.”

“Together?” Yan Yafei looked bewildered.

The man gave a dry cough. “We’ll keep it here with me. You can come see her often, bring some treats… wouldn’t that count as raising it together?”

Yan Yafei pursed her lips and smiled. “Thank you, Yuan-dage³.”

“Why be so formal with me? Come on, you go inside first. I’ll park the car.”

Lin Sifei watched the female lead walk through the villa’s door, her eyes falling back on the man. Yuan-dage? Then he must be the person from the original book who opposed Luo Ke and ultimately caused her bankruptcy.

She narrowed her eyes. The female lead really did leave Luo Corporation for Yuan Corporation. Now I just don’t know what his attitude toward Luo Corporation is.

“Xiao Xiao—Xiao Xiao—”

Luo Ke’s voice suddenly came from behind her. Lin Sifei whipped around and, looking up, let out a “meow.”

Following the sound, Luo Ke saw the cat standing in the grass, and her brow relaxed. Thinking that the female lead was still here, Lin Sifei rushed to hug her leg, wanting to lead her away.

Luo Ke narrowed her eyes, scooped her up, and gave her a swat on the butt. “Are you going to keep running off?”

Lin Sifei’s hind legs flinched. She stared at her with a pair of disbelieving cat eyes. She… she actually got her butt spanked.

Luo Ke’s heart softened when she saw her expression, but running off still warranted a lesson. She raised her hand and patted her again.

Lin Sifei trembled all over, her face flushing red. She let out a “meow” and twisted her body, wanting to get down.

Afraid she would fall, Luo Ke held her tight, feeling a pang of regret herself. “Okay, okay, I won’t spank you anymore. Did it hurt? I was wrong.”

As Lin Sifei was struggling, Luo Ke used one hand to cup her head and press it down, pushing her into the valley of her chest.

“Meeow~” Lin Sifei’s cry was weak. Her paws pressed against the soft flesh as she tried hard to pull her head out.

Luo Ke quickly let go. “Were you smothered? Are you okay?”

Her hand smoothed down the fur on Lin Sifei’s head. Lin Sifei was still dizzy and let out a feeble “meow,” which made Luo Ke’s heart ache even more.

Lin Sifei took a breath and lay still on her shoulder. Oh my god, she actually asked if I was smothered.

Luo Ke stroked her back, comforting her cat.

“President Luo.”

Luo Ke looked up and saw the person before her, nodding slightly. “President Yuan.”

Yuan Mo looked at the cat in her arms and pointed with a smile. “So this is your cat, President Luo. I saw her in the grass just now and was wondering whose adorable cat it was. I’ve never seen her before.”

“I only got her recently. President Yuan has been busy with matters lately and hasn’t been back in a while, so you wouldn’t have seen her.”

Yuan Mo waved his hand humbly. “It’s just the old man calling me back again to deal with all those relatives. It’s such a hassle.”

Luo Ke’s eyelids lowered slightly, a hint of emotion in her expression. “It’s a good thing to have your parents by your side. You should cherish it.”

Luo Ke’s family background was no secret in their circle. Yuan Mo realized his careless words had touched a sore spot for Luo Ke and nodded in agreement. “You’re right, President Luo. I should pay more attention to my family. Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head inside.”

Luo Ke nodded.

Just as Yuan Mo turned, he suddenly looked back. “By the way, that plot of land on the west side of the city—hasn’t President Luo also taken an interest in it?”

Luo Ke looked up and nodded. “That land has good potential. Why? Has President Yuan taken an interest as well?”

“I’m planning to build a shopping mall there. What are your thoughts, President Luo?”

Luo Ke stroked the cat, looking down in thought for a moment. “Yuan Corporation and Luo Corporation haven’t just been cooperating for a day or two. Since President Yuan has taken a liking to it, it wouldn’t be right for me to compete for it. How about this: you mark out the area for the mall, and I’ll build a few residential complexes on the rest.”

Yuan Mo extended his right hand, and Luo Ke shook it.

“You’re straightforward, President Luo. Don’t worry, I won’t make the mall too big. Since you’ve made a concession, I won’t advance a foot for every inch I’m given.”

Having settled a business deal during their chance meeting, Yuan Mo finally went home.

Lin Sifei lay on Luo Ke’s shoulder, her eyes slightly narrowed. From the looks of it, this Yuan Mo and Luo Ke seem to be on pretty good terms. But among businesspeople, profit is paramount. Maybe he’ll show his true colors later if he finds an opening to exploit.

Lin Sifei silently clenched her paws. It seems the most important thing is still the Luo family side of things.

Luo Ke rubbed her head. “He’s already gone, and you’re still looking. Do you like the Yuan family that much? Have I wronged you?”

Lin Sifei silently turned her head. Seeing the slight frown on Luo Ke’s face, she couldn’t help but laugh, rubbing her cheek against hers. “Meeow~”

Luo Ke gave a cold snort. “Acting cute again. It’s no use. The Yuan family doesn’t have any snacks for you.”

Lin Sifei nuzzled her again, her mouth curving up. Aww, a jealous President Luo is so cute.
