After Being Scummed – Chapter 96

Extra 3: Brilliance of Youth 1

In the golden autumn of October, Z University’s tree-lined path from the teaching building to the cafeteria was adorned with various colorful banners.

The senior members of various student clubs all stepped forward, each holding a megaphone in hand, distributing flyers to the newly enrolled students as if they were giving them away for free, actively trying to recruit all talented individuals.

It was already lunchtime, and the senior members of the drama club stood at the entrance of their “headquarters,” their club room, eagerly sticking flyers on anyone who looked good, and enthusiastically saying, “Beauty, I see extraordinary potential in your bones, and your appearance is heavenly. You were born to be part of our drama club!”

“Why not join our club and pay the membership fee?”

With such enthusiastic recruitment efforts, they managed to bring in quite a few people during the peak lunch hour.

As the lunchtime rush subsided, there were noticeably fewer new students on the tree-lined path.

Sitting at the table, the club president, Zuo Jingyou, tidied up the messy registration forms in front of her and said to the other members, “I’ll take care of things here. You all go and have your lunch.”

Everyone responded playfully and agreed, saying they would bring her lunch when they returned. They then left, walking arm in arm.

Zuo Jingyou thanked them and continued entering today’s registration information into her computer.

As she continued typing, the number of people on the tree-lined path gradually became sparse. Occasionally, a few individuals would form groups and line up outside popular clubs.

Zuo Jingyou had filled out about half of the form when she suddenly heard a series of rhythmic tapping sounds.

It was the distinctive sound of wood hitting the ground. Though not loud, it was particularly attention-grabbing.

Zuo Jingyou couldn’t help but look up in the direction of the sound.

Two meters away from her, there was a girl who appeared slender and exceptionally tall. She was walking towards them with a cane, her steps unsteady.

Zuo Jingyou collected herself and, after getting a clear view of the other person’s appearance, her mind went momentarily blank.

It was an extremely beautiful face, with fair and snow-like skin that exuded a cold and captivating aura. Her features were delicate and filled with exotic charm, undoubtedly the most exquisitely sculpted countenance by God.

And not to mention her eyes.

Those pair of gray-blue eyes were clear and transparent, like a snow-capped mountain lake, capturing the essence of the world.

This was the most beautiful face Zuo Jingyou had ever seen in her entire life. Without realizing it, she instinctively took up a position and looked at the newcomer who hastily called out to her, “Classmate, would you like to come and check out our drama club?”

The beautiful girl with the cane stopped in her tracks, raised her gaze, and cast a cold glance at Zuo Jingyou.

Her expression seemed unfriendly, as if saying, “Are you the one calling me?”

Strangely, Zuo Jingyou didn’t feel offended by her reaction. Instead, an inexplicable sense of joy welled up within her.

She propped her hands on the table, looking at the beautiful girl not far away. With a slight upturn of her lips, she said with a playful smile, “It’s you, classmate. Would you like to come and check out our drama club?”

The girl with the cane squinted her eyes, seemingly carefully assessing her. She furrowed her brows slightly, pondered for a moment, and then took slow steps towards her, leaning on her cane.

It was at this moment that Zuo Jingyou could clearly see the way the girl walked. She leaned on the cane, as if the weight of her body pressed onto the left side. Every step she took, it was her left foot leading, while her right foot seemed to struggle, dragging along like a heavy lead ball.

Her leg was disabled, but it didn’t diminish her beauty in the slightest.

She is just so beautiful, Zuo Jingyou thought.

Step by step, with unsteady gait, the girl laboriously made her way to Zuo Jingyou’s side, lifting her chin to give her a cold nod and disdainfully saying, “I’ve seen it, so what?”

Zuo Jingyou didn’t mind her frivolous and arrogant attitude. Instead, she took out an application form and handed it to her with a gentle smile, saying, “Since you’re here, why not consider joining our club?”

A look of surprise flashed across the girl’s face. She pointed at herself and said icily, “Me? Join the drama club?”

Zuo Jingyou nodded firmly. “Yes!”

The girl let out a scoff. “Sorry, I’m not interested in writing scripts or working behind the scenes. Goodbye.”

She spoke and turned to leave.

Zuo Jingyou’s hand moved even faster than her heart. Without thinking, she grabbed the girl’s arm and quickly stopped her, saying, “Classmate!”

But as soon as she touched the other person, the girl turned her head abruptly, staring wide-eyed at the spot where Zuo Jingyou held on, furrowing her brows, and saying, “Let go!”

Zuo Jingyou looked up and, seeing the unbearable expression on the other person’s face, immediately released her grip, instinctively apologizing, “I’m sorry, classmate, I didn’t mean to…”

The girl stared at her face, her brows tightly furrowed, and it took her a while to say, “Are you hitting on me?”

Zuo Jingyou was stunned for a moment, and it took her a while to realize what the other person was saying. She smiled and nodded candidly, admitting, “Clearly, I am hitting on you.”

The other person pursed her lips and said somewhat displeased, “I’m sorry, I don’t like humans.”

I’m sorry… I don’t like humans?

Wait, what kind of response is this?

Ah, she just mentioned hitting on…

Zuo Jingyou arched her eyebrows, smiled gently, and implied, “When I said ‘hitting on,’ it wasn’t what you thought. Classmate, I just wanted to ask if you’re interested in acting in the drama club.”

It wasn’t about pursuing you!

As soon as the words fell, Zuo Jingyou saw a stunning shade of pink spread across the fair and cold face of the girl in front of her. Then that pink turned deeper, becoming an extraordinarily beautiful shade of red.

(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)

Ah, so beautiful, like witnessing the blooming of a delicate rose, it was heartwrenching.

Seemingly understanding her own misunderstanding, the girl stammered and blushed as she tried to explain, “Well… I’m… a disabled person, how can I act in the drama club? I can’t even walk properly! What would I play, the Hunchback of Notre Dame?”

So cute! Even her stuttering speech is adorable!

How can there be such an adorable person! Just like a clumsy little kid. Acting all aloof at first, but actually just a paper tiger with a cute little cat inside!

Zuo Jingyou smiled, her eyes shining brightly as she looked at her and said, “No way, in the drama club, there are many roles that can be done in a wheelchair. Who says people with physical limitations can’t act? That’s prejudice!”

“With your good looks, if you improve your acting skills and performance a bit, maybe you can play Juliet.”

“Who knows, you might become famous as the wheelchair version of Juliet!”

Zuo Jingyou looked at her with a smile, pushing the registration form in front of her, enticing her like kidnapping a child, saying, “Give it a try, there’s nothing to lose.”

“I think your appearance is perfect, and your eyes are so beautiful, leaving a deep impression, like snow-covered mountains and icy lakes, a star in a cold night, or the brilliance of the sky…”

“I really like your eyes.”

Zuo Jingyou said a bunch of compliments and seeing the girl staring at her with wide eyes, she smiled and said, “By the way, I haven’t asked for your name yet.”

“I’m Zuo Jingyou, ‘Zuo’ as in left, ‘Jing’ as in quiet, and ‘You’ as in profound.”

Leaning forward, supporting her body on the table, Zuo Jingyou looked up and met the beautiful gray-blue eyes of the girl, smiling as she asked, “And you, what’s your name and what year are you in?”

The girl with the cane instinctively took a step back, made a swallowing motion, and then slowly exhaled, saying in a very cold tone, “Yin Bai, white like the color white.”

Zuo Jingyou’s smile grew even bigger as she pushed the form in front of Yin Bai and said softly, “Yin Bai, your name goes well with you, it sounds nice.”

“So now, are you considering filling out this registration form? I genuinely hope you can join our drama club. You’re too good-looking, I can’t miss out on talent like yours!”

Yin Bai leaned on her cane and looked earnestly at the beautiful woman in front of her. After a while, she said, “Since you’re sincerely inviting me, then I’ll reluctantly…”

She filled out the form…

Then Yin Bai actually picked up the pen and swiftly wrote her name on the registration form.

After finishing, Yin Bai closed the pen and looked at Zuo Jingyou, saying, “Alright, your approach was successful!”

Yin Bai cleared her throat and awkwardly added, “Actually, you’re beautiful too. It’s my reluctant response to your praise, based on your compliments to me.”

After saying that, Yin Bai took out her phone from her pocket, switched to the call interface, and said to Zuo Jingyou, “As they say, it’s only fair. You also have to give me your contact information.”

“Now, it’s me who’s hitting on you.”

Zuo Jingyou was slightly surprised. She blinked and looked at the serious girl in front of her, taking a while to regain her composure.

(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)

She said, “Okay,” followed by a gentle laugh and gave out her phone number.

This was the first time Zuo Jingyou had met Yin Bai. In the following days, she thought Yin Bai would reach out to her, but nothing happened.

A few days later, Zuo Jingyou saw Yin Bai again at the club’s orientation meeting.

While giving a speech on stage, Zuo Jingyou caught a glimpse of Yin Bai sitting upright in the corner, with a posture that showed careful listening. She couldn’t help but curl her lips into a smile.

She thought she hadn’t successfully won her over, but unexpectedly, here she was. Ah, it seemed that their club had gained another treasure of a beauty.

After the orientation meeting, senior members of the club began organizing recreational activities for the juniors to participate in. Due to her leg condition and lack of interest, Yin Bai sat in the corner for almost the entire time, silently watching them.

But she was so attractive and exuded an air of elegance that both men and women wanted to approach her.

After a few instances of witnessing her troubled expression, Zuo Jingyou sighed and walked over to her, sat down beside her, and chuckled lightly, saying, “Last time I asked you what year you’re in, and you haven’t answered me yet. Yin Bai, after getting someone’s contact information through hitting on them, don’t you usually stay in touch?”
