The Scum Woman’s Tactics.
Qi Song was speechless.
As someone who had never been in a relationship, to be disdained by a scum woman for being too innocent was something she simply couldn’t refute.
Compared to someone who had cheated and had a child, how could she not be innocent?
And yet, the Omega still had an air of cold nobility, the look she directed at her so prim and proper.
She was simply too good at pretending!
In front of someone like this, acting more flustered1 would probably just make the other person more excited.
So she looked directly at Yu Luo, her expression blank. “Intensive training it is, then.”
As an Alpha, was she supposed to be afraid?
Yu Luo blinked lightly, tilting her head with a smile. “Alright… then let the simulation continue.”
She got into character in less than a second.
Because the moment her voice fell, her slender arms opened toward Qi Song. Her features softened, her voice became like water, carrying a hint of flirtation that was barely there. “Carry me back to the room.”
Something akin to a competitive drive was burning in Qi Song’s heart, and without hesitation, she stepped forward. She clasped her right hand firmly around Yu Luo’s back, reached down with her left under the crook of her knees, and lifted Yu Luo into a princess carry.
She held her securely, with great proficiency.
In the next second, the woman’s arms wound around her neck like soft vines, and the warm, smooth skin of her wrist inadvertently brushed against the spot where her gland was.
That spot was overly sensitive, and Qi Song’s breath hitched.
The Omega in her arms seemed not to notice at all. She lowered her head, bringing the tip of her nose close to the skin of her neck, and said softly:
“I don’t think I’ve ever told you, but your pheromones smell wonderful.”
No one can smell their own pheromones; they can only sense the concentration being released. Therefore, Qi Song was a little curious about what this body’s pheromones smelled like.
The original owner had only presented2 after the breakup, so Yu Luo had never smelled them before.
Qi Song mulled over this question as she walked. As if hearing her thoughts, Yu Luo continued, “Probably like gardenias after the rain.”
There were stairs ahead. As Qi Song stepped onto the first one, Yu Luo’s arms tightened around her.
As a result, the skin of her wrist pressed closer to her gland, and the movement of being carried inevitably caused it to rub lightly.
Already holding an armful of warmth and fragrance, with that spot now being rubbed, Qi Song’s throat bobbed. A wave of heat surged through her body, and her breathing became somewhat labored.
This Omega couldn’t possibly not know this was an Alpha’s gland. Was she doing it on purpose?
She didn’t think the 「intensive training」 needed to involve such a private area. Her brow furrowed, and she opened her mouth, intending to discuss the matter seriously.
But then she felt the person in her arms suddenly stiffen, and her hands shot back as if she were a startled rabbit.
“Mm…” The Omega’s usually cool and composed voice held a rare tremor. “That spot of yours… I forgot. Sorry.”
Qi Song froze. Looking down, she saw the woman biting her lip. Her ears, usually as flawless as white jade3, were now so red they looked as if they might bleed, and her eyelashes trembled helplessly.
It was as if she had been caught completely off guard, startled by the gland that had suddenly hardened against her smooth skin.
…She actually looked a little innocent.
Her heart skipped a beat.
When Yu Luo had dated the original owner, the original owner was an unpresented, ordinary person. So, it was understandable that she wouldn’t be used to a gland being there.
But she’d had a child with someone else, and had possibly even dallied with other Alphas. How could she not know?
Qi Song suppressed this sense of contradiction, consciously writing it off as another one of the scum woman’s provocative tactics.
When a fox4 comes down from the mountain to bewitch the world, it will likely always choose to first appear in the guise of a white rabbit who knows nothing of worldly affairs.
“Hurry up and retract your pheromones…” Seeing her silence, Yu Luo tapped her chin with a fingertip and looked up, chiding her softly.
“I can only wait for it to subside,” Qi Song said irritably. “Weren’t you the one who stirred it up?”
“Alright.” Yu Luo actually sounded somewhat obedient as she replied, and then said no more.
She just lowered her head and pinched the corner of her shirt, her fingertips turning white from the force, as if she were silently enduring something.
Qi Song’s suspicious gaze fell upon her still-flushed ears. She suddenly realized that the concentration of Yu Luo’s pheromones hadn’t fluctuated at all; it was still the same level of faint fragrance as usual—
She was acting so embarrassed, yet in reality, her pheromones weren’t affected in the slightest. And that, clearly, was the truest physiological instinct.
As expected, it was all an act.
With that thought, a certain dim heat somewhere in Qi Song’s heart cooled completely.
Each lost in their own thoughts, the two arrived at the bedroom door in silence.
Qi Song set Yu Luo down steadily.
Before she could open it, the bedroom door was opened from the inside.
“Mommy…” Taotao, rubbing her sleepy eyes, clung dependently to Yu Luo’s leg.
The atmosphere from just a moment ago instantly dissipated.
“You’re awake?” Yu Luo ruffled the soft hair on Taotao’s head and slid her hands under her daughter’s armpits, intending to lift her little cub up to soothe her like she usually did.
But her arms felt a little weak. Her legs, too, actually.
So she paused.
As she bent over, her long, curly hair fell to either side, hiding her face. She bit her lower lip, and the flush that had just faded crept quietly back onto her cheeks.
She let go, straightened up, and resisted the urge to touch a certain spot on the back of her neck.
Without looking back at Qi Song, she said lightly, “Let Mama carry Taotao.”
She did need to get more familiar with Taotao before the show, so Qi Song didn’t refuse.
But she hadn’t had much contact with children, especially one so young.
Seeing Taotao’s little short legs toddle over to her, her little head tilted up as she said, “Mama carry?”
She found it cute, but was also a little nervous.
After hesitating for a few seconds, she finally reached out, placed her hands under Taotao’s armpits, and lifted the child up just as she’d seen on TV before.
The movement was so smooth that even she was surprised.
Could it be that she had a bit of a talent for handling kids?
Taotao, a small, soft bundle, rested on her shoulder, happily grabbing at the air with her left hand.
“Mommy!”
At the milky-voiced call, Yu Luo, who had been staring blankly at the two of them, seemed to snap back to her senses.
The light in her eyes under her lashes was like water. Yu Luo raised a hand and offered her index finger to Taotao’s palm, and it was grasped by Taotao’s warm little hand.
Taotao beamed at her, revealing a row of neat little baby teeth like a lively little sun, and reminded her, “Mommy, kiss-kiss.”
Mommy always kissed her after her nap.
“I didn’t forget.” Yu Luo leaned over and planted a kiss on Taotao’s little cheek.
Satisfied, Taotao’s eyes crinkled shut as she gave her mummy a big 「mwah」 back on her cheek.
Qi Song held the little cub perfectly still, making it convenient for the mother and daughter’s affectionate display.
But then she saw the Omega suddenly turn her head to look at her, her beautiful eyes gazing at her with an unreadable meaning.
Her heart stopped for a beat. A certain premonition was growing strong.
Sure enough, in the next second, Yu Luo turned, tilted her head up, and pressed a kiss to her cheek as well. It was a touch-and-go contact, but the soft, warm feeling lingered.
Qi Song’s breathing grew unsteady.
She knew this was probably part of the 「intensive training」, that it was desensitization training, that it was…
In short, with the agreement in place, one could find 10,000 legitimate reasons for it.
But, for Yu Luo to kiss the well-behaved child in her arms and then gently lean over to kiss her—this kind of “evenly bestowing rain and dew5” was so heartwarming, it was as if they were truly a happy family of three.
The hand Qi Song had on Taotao’s back tightened unconsciously.
She should have been repulsed.
She must be an idiot.
Otherwise, how could she, faced with this three-month, betrayal-laced sham, absurdly feel a moment of happiness?
