I Am Yours.
A similar night, a similar scene.
The young woman squatted by the door in the same posture, raising her eyes to gaze at her innocently and with deep attachment.
——“But I haven’t savored it enough yet.”
This sentence crossed a long expanse of time; the answer given by the 24-year-old Qi Song before her eyes distantly overlapped with the one given by the 19-year-old Qi Song five years ago.
Matching word for word, it brought Yu Luo a grand sense of fate.
In that sense of fate, her soul trembled.
Tears on her cheeks flowed silently and torrentially, and her body was trembling lightly.
Qi Song instantly forgot all about savoring or not savoring.
She shot up from the floor at once, stood before Yu Luo, and, holding her breath, asked cautiously, “Jiejie, what’s wrong?”
She felt her heart tighten at the sight of Yu Luo’s tears, bringing with it an unbearable ache.
Before she even had time to think about why it hurt, her own tears had already begun to well up along with Yu Luo’s.
This woman always stirred all of her emotions.
She couldn’t help but raise her hands to circle Yu Luo’s waist, pulling her into an embrace, wanting to give her a sufficiently ardent warmth.
Then, she lowered her head, gently pressing her forehead against Yu Luo’s, and felt the other’s eyelash tips touch her own.
Both were dampened by the other’s tears.
“…Jiejie, why are you sad?” she asked with the utmost gentleness.
Yu Luo shook her head.
A tear trickled down with the movement, washing the smile that was slowly forming at the corners of her lips, making it even clearer and brighter.
She said, “I’m not sad.”
With the skin of their foreheads touching, the distance between their gazes was extremely close, and their slightly warm breaths were even more so intertwined.
Holding each other like this, it was as if their souls were also touching.
“I’m not sad. I’m very happy, Qi Song.”
As Qi Song paused in a slight daze, Yu Luo said:
“Because that moment just now suddenly made me feel that I will never truly lose you——I will only possess you again and again.”
“This makes me feel relaxed and happy.”
As she spoke, the smile in her tear-filled eyes grew stronger, with a boundless gentleness contained within them.
“So, we might briefly lose each other,” she said softly, “but we will definitely possess each other once more.”
Qi Song tried hard to savor these words of hers, but she could not understand them immediately.
But Yu Luo did not need her to understand right now.
She simply raised a hand, hooked it around Qi Song’s neck, and said in a soft voice, “Alright, right now you just need to hold me properly.”
Qi Song could feel that Yu Luo was happy from the bottom of her heart.
So her own mood lightened as well, and she obediently held Yu Luo very tightly.
When their soft bodies pressed together, it seemed as if their moods would also be filled up.
She couldn’t help but pat Yu Luo’s back gently, as if coaxing a child, once and then again.
The embrace was warm, melting into the night.
But amidst this warm affection and comfort from Qi Song, Yu Luo bit her lower lip.
“…” Not wanting to kill the scenery1, she hesitated for a moment and swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue.
But after a moment, following a shallow yawn, she finally couldn’t help but say helplessly in a soft voice, “Be good, stop patting for now, okay? If you keep patting me, I’m going to fall asleep.”
Qi Song’s movements paused, and she obediently stopped. “Jiejie doesn’t want to sleep?”
“Mm.” Yu Luo closed her eyes and nuzzled her cheek into the crook of Qi Song’s neck. “I suddenly want this night to be a little longer.”
Because she had a premonition that tomorrow, things would return to the origin point.
The Qi Song before her now was honest and frank about her emotions, her heart and eyes filled with only her, completely different from her defensiveness and rejection of the recent past. It was as if she had returned to being nineteen.
The more sudden and beautiful the change, the more transient it was.
Like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow2, ready to burst at any moment.
But Yu Luo accepted this with composure, because the sudden beauty of this moment had already exceeded her expectations.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but chuckle softly:
“I’ll just take this as you feeling sorry for me for being rejected by you recently, and taking this opportunity to coax me in advance.”
“Did I reject you?” Qi Song searched through her chaotic and unclear memories, but found nothing.
She said, a little anxiously, “That must have been against my heart’s will. Jiejie, you mustn’t believe it.”
“Mm, I didn’t believe it at all.” Yu Luo tilted her head and kissed her ear.
Now that her mood had relaxed, she began to realize that the concentration of pheromones on Qi Song’s body was not right.
Despite kissing on the bed for so long, the concentration of Qi Song’s pheromones had remained close to nil, without any fluctuation or undulation.
And Yu Luo was all too familiar with this.
“How many suppressant shots did you take today?” she asked.
Qi Song didn’t quite remember, but her mouth had already answered subconsciously, “Starting this afternoon, I took three shots.”
“…” Yu Luo’s breath hitched.
Even more of an overdose than she had imagined.
Inhibitors can only be injected once within 12 hours. If the effect is not good, one can add half a vial at most. Any more will have many side effects.
“I was originally worried about what would happen if you didn’t black out tonight, how you would face yourself tomorrow.”
In the woman’s clear and cool voice, her tone was somewhere between amused and exasperated. “It seems I overthought things. You’ve naturally paved a way out for yourself.”
Qi Song blinked innocently. “What way out?”
Yu Luo said faintly, “The first time I overdosed on suppressants, I also injected a triple dose. When I woke up, I almost forgot even who I was.”
Overdosing not only harms the body, but also causes blackouts.
Thinking of this, Yu Luo couldn’t help but raise a hand to tug Qi Song’s ear, chiding lightly, “Why did you inject so much? Have you forgotten all your physiological knowledge?”
Qi Song felt a little wronged, but still let the woman tug her ear.
She wanted to explain herself, but she couldn’t quite remember why she had injected so much at the time.
Vaguely, it seemed to be because she wanted to pull away from the frantic longing she felt for Yu Luo.
But, why pull away? Missing Yu Luo is such a blissful thing.
Seeing Qi Song’s lips move hesitantly, as if she herself were also somewhat confused, Yu Luo sighed softly and no longer dwelled on this issue with her.
After all, regarding the answer, her heart knew and her belly was clear3.
So, in the end, she raised a hand to rub the crown of Qi Song’s head, her expression softening. “Alright.”
“Since you are destined to forget this night, then before that happens, we might as well enjoy it to the fullest.”
“Let’s just treat it as a limited-time, nighttime romance. I can also use the sweetness of tonight to forgive your future instances of your mouth-is-heart-is-not4.”
Pausing, she smiled. “But, actually, we’re already in the middle of it.”
From the moment Qi Song pulled her onto the bed, they had already fallen into this love that was destined to be brief, yet was incomparably pure and ardent.
A limited-time, nighttime romance.
These six words struck Qi Song’s heart.
She didn’t have time to think it over, no time to ask more questions, before she was already, in an instant, throwing herself into it completely, under the gaze of the woman before her, whose eyes held a starlike glimmer of anticipation.
“…Then, should we kiss again?”
Her eyes quietly lit up; her gaze flickered to Yu Luo’s lips and then was quickly withdrawn.
Yu Luo looked at her innocent appearance, cautiously longing for a kiss, and the plan she’d had to do something more intense with Qi Song was suddenly retracted.
She suddenly couldn’t bear to break this rare state of mind Qi Song was in.
They had and would have plenty of passion in the past and future, but the greenness of this moment, like a first love, would be difficult to replicate.
It was an exceptionally rare and precious experience.
Yu Luo wanted to do her best to protect it.
So she smiled softly. “You can kiss me anytime.”
“Mm.” An obvious delight appeared in Qi Song’s eyes, yet she did not kiss Yu Luo immediately.
As if saving her favorite food to savor slowly at the end, she said, “Then let’s just hug for now.”
But hugging was also precious.
A sense of urgency suddenly arose in Qi Song’s heart, a worry that she wouldn’t have time to do all the things she wanted to do. But before that, there was something even more important than all of her own thoughts:
“What does Jiejie want to do?”
Yu Luo blinked, and a sly smile suddenly touched the corners of her lips.
She said, “Let’s go see the cub together, okay? She’s sleeping all by herself.”
Actually, Taotao had always been a very good sleeper, almost never waking or moving at night.
But Yu Luo just wanted to see how Qi Song would react in her current state.
After all, this 「green first love」 like when she was nineteen, had a three-year-old-cub version.
Qi Song froze for a moment.
For some reason, she easily heard 「Let’s go see the cub together」 as 「Let’s go see our cub together」, and didn’t feel there was anything wrong with that sentence at all.
It seemed she had now become an animal incapable of thought, with her heart and eyes filled with only Yu Luo.
Everything Yu Luo said was right.
So she nodded, took Yu Luo’s hand, their fingers intertwining and clasping tightly, and entered the master bedroom with her.
Taotao was lying on the bed, sleeping sweetly, occasionally smacking her little lips and murmuring a few sounds.
No different from when Yu Luo had left.
“Tuck the little cub’s blanket in,” Yu Luo said softly.
So Qi Song went forward and tucked the blanket in properly for Taotao.
She gazed at Taotao’s small, sleeping face in the darkness of the night, and an inexplicable feeling arose in her heart.
This feeling was difficult to trace to its source, and even harder to put into words, but it directly made the tip of her nose sting.
Taotao looks a lot like both her and Yu Luo.
She looks so cute. As expected of our little cub.
Yu Luo stood to the side, gazing in a slight daze at the scene of Qi Song meticulously tucking Taotao in, the fingers of her hand hanging at her side curling slightly.
She bit her lip.
Coming out of the master bedroom, Qi Song suddenly remembered something and turned her head to ask Yu Luo:
“Jiejie, the time limit you mentioned, what time does it end?”
Yu Luo’s steps faltered, and she shook her head.
“…I don’t know either.”
The first time she had overdosed, she herself didn’t remember when she had fallen asleep. Perhaps there would be a sudden wave of drowsiness.
Hearing that this romance could end at any moment, Qi Song instantly panicked.
She could no longer remain calm and composed, and said hastily and a little aggrievedly in a small voice, “But I haven’t kissed you yet.”
“…Pfft.”
Yu Luo gazed at her, her eyes curving, and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Just now, when this young woman was tucking her daughter in, her face had held a maternal glow that she herself was unaware of.
A certain maturity.
And now, her cute, eager appearance because she hadn’t gotten to kiss yet formed such a stark contrast with her demeanor from just a moment ago.
It was as if the 19-year-old and 24-year-old Qi Song were entangled within her body.
Amidst this contradiction, Yu Luo heard her own rapidly beating heart.
She let go of Qi Song’s hand, wrapped her arms around the other’s neck, and said gently, “Then carry me back to the room first, and then give me a proper kiss.”
“Mm.” Qi Song immediately put one arm around her back and the other under the crook of her knees, skillfully lifting her in a princess carry, and steadily returned to the guest room.
She gently laid Yu Luo down on the bed.
She followed, getting onto the bed herself, propping her hands on either side of Yu Luo’s body. In this position, leaning over Yu Luo, she moved closer and pecked the woman’s lips lightly.
When their lips parted, they made a faint, moist sound. As if reluctant to separate.
They had already kissed for a long time, many times tonight, but a simple touch like this still easily made her heart ache with its beating.
“Jiejie.” She gazed at the woman beneath her and couldn’t help but murmur.
Yu Luo responded softly, raising a hand to caress her cheek, her eyes churning with deep emotions.
At this moment, the sky outside the window was faintly bright; it was already the dim light of dawn.
Perhaps because they both sensed that something was about to end, their gazes were tightly entangled, unable to part.
Yu Luo’s red lips parted slightly, and she asked her softly, “Qi Song, did you like tonight?”
Qi Song nodded without hesitation. “I liked it. I liked it a lot.”
Yu Luo lowered her lashes, silent for a moment. She then raised her eyes and said, “Then please don’t forget it completely, okay?”
The woman pleaded softly, “I don’t want tonight to also become a memory that belongs only to me…”
“I’ll allow you to forget it for a short time,” she said. “But you must remember it later, can you?”
Looking into Yu Luo’s eyes, which seemed to shimmer with unshed tears, Qi Song’s heart felt as if it were being squeezed tight.
It was as if a biting autumn wind were howling.
After a moment of silence, she said, word by word, “I will definitely remember, Jiejie.”
“I will remember it even if I have to try with all my might…” She lowered her head, her lips gently brushing against Yu Luo’s.
“Believe me.”
Her gaze was deep and sincere, her tone almost reverent, as if she were not just talking about tonight. “I won’t let you be the only one who remembers…”
Yu Luo’s eyes began to sting.
Her throat felt tight, and when she opened her mouth to speak, she was too choked up to make a sound.
After taking a deep breath to compose herself, she finally said in a slightly hoarse voice, “I believe you, Qi Song.”
“I have always believed you,” Yu Luo said. “You have never broken a promise to me.”
“Ding, ding, ding——”
The ringtone of the phone placed by the pillow suddenly rang out, shattering the atmosphere between the two of them.
It was the six o’clock alarm that Qi Song had set to destroy the evidence.
This alarm was like the fated, punctual tolling of the clock at midnight, announcing the end of Cinderella’s ball.
Amidst the lingering hum, the paper-drunk, gold-mesmerized5 splendor was about to dissipate, and all the magnificent and brilliant illusions were coming to an end.
The pumpkin carriage and glass slippers were no more; the colored lights were extinguished.
The tide of reality was already rising, and the two of them, before being completely submerged by that tide, kissed intoxicatingly.
In the heat of their entangled lips and tongues, they would occasionally become breathless. During a brief moment when they parted, Yu Luo gazed at Qi Song, who was so lost in the moment she seemed to not know what evening this was, or what year6, and couldn’t help but tease with a curve of her eyes, “Do you still remember who you are?”
“Of course, I remember.” Qi Song reluctantly touched her lips with her own moist ones again.
The air suddenly fell into a strange silence.
The teasing in Yu Luo’s eyes slowly retreated in that silence, and gradually a profound meaning began to surface.
“…Then who are you?”
A hint of nervousness suddenly appeared in her eyes.
She had no idea what the answer would be.
In the waiting moments, Yu Luo felt her heart beat faster and faster, and an indescribable unease suddenly washed over her, making her chest rise and fall.
——“I am yours.”
She heard Qi Song say softly.
The unease in her heart was thus cast down from a great height, falling, and finally sinking into a boundless, soft, and dreamlike sea of fairy tales, drifting away without a trace.
She slowly began to smile.
The author has something to say:
At this moment, “I am yours” is more important, and more eternal, than “who I am.”
This susceptible period is actually a brief fairy-tale escape, allowing them to break away from their current reality and properly soothe each other with their body heat and promises.
