After Agreeing to Go on a Parenting Show With My Omega Ex-Girlfriend – Chapter 15

That’s Just How Our Qi Song Has Always Been.

“I want to hold my wife’s hand.”

The moment these words fell, Yu Luo, who had still been trying to struggle free, abruptly froze.

She lifted her gaze to Qi Song, an unreadable expression in her eyes.

After a few seconds of silent eye contact, she faintly curved her lips and said airily, “……Is that so? Then don’t let go for even a second.”

That look held a threatening undertone, as if to say, 「You just dare let go of my hand today.」

Not to be outdone, Qi Song smiled with tender affection. “Mm, I’ll hold my wife’s hand tight.”

Besides, she wasn’t the one who was afraid of bugs.

Yu Luo squeezed her hand.

“What a big bug, what’s this one called?” Up ahead, Taotao pointed at a black, spiky bug and asked.

Qi Song looked over and blurted out the bug’s scientific name, even adding a simple introduction.

Yu Luo tilted her head to glance at her. “Since when did you start studying bugs?”

Qi Song belatedly realized what she had just said and felt strange herself.

Had she ever studied them? Recalling her memories from before transmigrating, it seemed there was a vague period where she had briefly learned a bit about insects.

Not wanting to expose herself, Qi Song gave a vague answer, raising her eyebrows in feigned pride. “Just being knowledgeable and well-read, that’s all.”

Yu Luo gazed at her, her eyes gently curving into a smile.

“Mm.”

She tightened her grip on Qi Song’s hand, her voice as clear and crisp as a cool autumn breeze sweeping across the fields. “That’s just how our Qi Song has always been.”

Her gaze was gentle, and every word she spoke seemed like she was coaxing someone.

This sentence was clearly meant to praise the original owner, yet Qi Song’s mood, as if by reflex, was like that of a puppy being rewarded with a pat from its master, its tail starting to wag.

But she sobered up the very next second.

The original owner’s love-addled brain was probably bubbling up from some corner of her body again. Qi Song skillfully wielded her scalpel to obliterate that love-addled brain, and satisfied, felt calm once more.

As if in some kind of contest, ever since Yu Luo said not to let go, their hands truly didn’t part again.

Hand in hand, they leisurely followed behind their cub, who was frolicking freely in the fields, watching her constantly find bugs to play with before returning them to nature.

While searching for bugs, they also managed to collect all the crops on their list.

On their way to the program team’s designated meeting point, they ran into Li Zhen’s family.

Li Zhen’s son, Li Ge, pointed a finger at the family of three and shouted to Li Zhen, “The ones staying at the village chief’s house!”

He seemed to still be holding a grudge about not being able to stay in the village chief’s house, his eyes filled with hostility.

Li Zhen was in the field digging sweet potatoes. He glanced over at the family of three and offered a greeting.

But he didn’t correct Li Ge for being impolite.

Taotao, unaware of the adults’ grievances, beamed upon seeing another child. She ran over, cupping the bug she had just caught, wanting to share it with Li Ge.

“Gege1, are you afraid of bugs? In my hand…”

She remembered that her Mommy was afraid of bugs, so she didn’t know if Li Ge was. Thus, she didn’t recklessly thrust the bug forward before showing it off.

But before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Li Ge’s scream.

Li Ge violently shoved her. Caught off guard, Taotao fell and landed on her bottom, and the bug escaped as a result.

Taotao looked at her empty palm, felt the ache in her bottom, and the shimmer of tears instantly welled up in her eyes. But she didn’t cry out, just looked back at her Mommy and Mama, bewildered.

Yu Luo’s heart lurched, and she was about to step forward, but someone was faster than her.

Qi Song rushed forward in a few steps, bent down, and lifted the cub from the ground, holding her in her arms.

Logically, she shouldn’t have been so anxious and heartbroken. She had only known Taotao for a few days, and her own youth made it so she hadn’t fully adapted to the role of a mother yet.

But at this moment, she just couldn’t stand seeing Taotao being bullied, nor could she bear seeing those big eyes, so similar to Yu Luo’s, shimmering with a pitiful, watery light.

“Mama, the bug flew away…” Taotao hugged Qi Song’s neck, murmuring aggrievedly.

Qi Song patted her little head and said softly, “It’s okay, we’ll help you find another one.”

She coaxed her with such sincerity that, for a moment, she realized she seemed to be finding her footing in playing the part of a mother.

Yu Luo also came over and rubbed Taotao’s bottom, asking with concern, “Does it hurt here, little cub?”

“A little bit.” Taotao nodded like a chick pecking at rice, her milky voice acting spoiled. “Want kisses.”

After Yu Luo and Qi Song each planted a stamp on her left and right cheeks, she started smiling again.

The little cub was an optimist and didn’t hold grudges, but the two adults were not.

After coaxing the cub, they looked back at the family in the sweet potato field, who seemed to be having a conflict.

Li Ge’s Omega father, Wu Yue2, was demanding that he apologize to Taotao. But Li Ge pouted and refused, crying that Taotao had tried to scare him with the bug on purpose, so Taotao should be the one to apologize. “And besides, they stole the village chief’s house…”

This sentence made it perfectly clear that Li Ge’s push had been driven by other selfish motives.

However, Li Zhen acted like a peacemaker. “Taotao brought the bug over first, and Xiao Ge also accidentally pushed her. They can just say sorry to each other, and this matter will be over.”

He appeared impartial on the surface, but in reality, the scales were tipped absurdly to one side: Taotao had “brought it over first,” while Li Ge had merely “pushed by accident.”

Qi Song let out a cold laugh and took a few steps forward, her bright and beautiful face radiating an imposing aura. “Our cub was completely in the right. She was cupping the bug in her hands and didn’t even extend it toward your son. She even considerately asked your son if he was scared first.”

“Your son, on the other hand, deliberately pushed Taotao so hard she fell to the ground just because he couldn’t stay in the village chief’s house, and then he’s the one who acts all aggrieved. Is this how your family teaches children?”

Under Qi Song’s merciless questioning, Li Zhen’s expression turned grim, but his family was indeed in the wrong, and for a moment, he was speechless.

Seeing the two guest families in conflict, the accompanying PD and camera crew hurried over to mediate.

Everyone had seen what had just happened and felt it was Li Ge’s fault. After some tactful persuasion, Li Zhen, with a dark face, finally made a crying Li Ge bow and apologize.

Li Ge’s eyes were red and swollen, and his face was still full of hostility and unwillingness as he apologized.

Taotao leaned on Qi Song’s shoulder and whispered, “He doesn’t look like he wants to apologize.”

Qi Song patted the dust off her bottom and shot a meaningful look at Li Zhen. “Some children haven’t been taught well by adults. Don’t worry, Taotao, with Mommy and Mama here, no one can bully you again.”

Li Zhen’s expression soured even further.

They couldn’t let things get too ugly on the show. Qi Song was still fuming, but then she saw something and suddenly curled her lips into a smile.

The bug that had just escaped from Taotao’s hand had flown, by sheer coincidence, and landed right on Li Ge’s nose. It scared him so much he shrieked wildly, and as he scrambled backward, his foot slipped, and he fell flat on his back, crying and desperately scratching at his face.

Yu Luo glanced over, a trace of a smile flashing in her eyes. For a moment, she felt that the bug wasn’t so scary anymore.

The family of three left the commotion behind them and continued toward the meeting point.

Qi Song put Taotao down, letting her observe the roadside for any new bugs she might like.

The moment she turned around, she saw the Omega extending a slender, fair hand, her tone airy as she settled the score. “You let go just now.”

Qi Song paused slightly, then took her hand. She wanted to argue, feeling a bit defiant, that she had done it for Taotao, but then she saw Yu Luo continue, “But you did very well.”

The bright autumn pastoral scenery was reflected in the Omega’s eyes, and a bit of gentle affection swayed within that scenery.

She raised a hand and, with practiced ease, turned off her mic. She closed the distance in a few steps, her other hand hooking behind Qi Song’s neck in an embrace.

Standing on her tiptoes, she whispered softly by Qi Song’s ear, “The way you protected Taotao… was exactly the same as how you used to protect me.”

Back then, she had also been just as resolute, charging to the front lines. She had shielded her firmly, saying, 「With me here, no one can bully Jiejie.」

“You really… haven’t changed at all.”

Amidst the woman’s tender, soft laughter, Qi Song pressed her lips together, a surge of dissatisfaction rising in her heart.

Still haven’t changed at all?

Putting on such a deeply affectionate act, yet she can’t even tell that the person has been swapped out.

She turned her head, reached out, and lightly lifted Yu Luo’s chin, repeating meaningfully, “Haven’t changed at all?”

Yu Luo obediently let her chin be held, “Mm-hm”-ing without hesitation.

Qi Song snorted coldly in her heart.

Hypocritical scum woman!
