Fight
She hadn’t run far before the sounds of a fight echoed behind her.
Lin Yan stopped in her tracks, leaning against a tree to catch her breath, and pulled out her phone from her pocket, wiping away the rainwater, planning to call for help.
But who could she call?
People from the Huange Nightclub? Don’t joke, why would a drug dealer risk their life to save a cop?
To keep her undercover operation completely secret, she hadn’t saved anyone’s contact information, including Feng Jianguo’s. At this moment, she could only consider calling the police.
Lin Yan turned in a circle in the woods, the dense trees blocking out the daylight, making it impossible to discern direction, let alone any distinctive landmarks.
Even if she called the police, they couldn’t find this place quickly. More importantly, there was a rat in the police department. Showing her face was basically the same as exposing herself to that person, thereby leaking information.
It would only mean an early death for her and Song Yuhang.
No, she couldn’t call the police.
Lin Yan clutched her phone tightly, her body soaked through, mumbling determinedly to herself.
“Think of a solution, think of a solution…”
Before she finished speaking, a loud gunshot broke the silence of the night.
Lin Yan’s heart skipped a beat, and she hastily turned around, dropping her phone to the ground. “Song Yuhang!”
The sound of rain drowned out her slightly tearful cry.
Song Yuhang climbed out of a pile of fallen leaves. The gunshot hit a tree next to her, scattering wood chips.
Taking advantage of the momentary confusion of the man in black, she picked up a leaf with sand, and with a swift movement, kicked him in the knee.
The man stumbled forward like a dog eating sh*t. Song Yuhang grabbed the hand holding the gun and pulled it towards her chest, quickly disarming him. Then, with a clean and precise strike, she smashed her elbow forcefully against his head.
The man spat out a mouthful of blood on the spot.
Song Yuhang continued to strike with her mechanical stick, repeatedly jabbing the tip into his abdomen, forcing him back.
Leaves fell one after another as the man’s back pressed against a tree. With a thud, he fell to his knees, spitting out blood, and tightly embraced her waist, trying to throw her to the ground.
From the current situation, Song Yuhang seemed to have the upper hand.
Lin Yan steadied her mind, feeling that she couldn’t delay any longer. She was about to pick up her phone and risk exposure to contact Jingzhe when suddenly, she froze.
Footsteps rustled in the heavy rain, very close to her.
She gently parted the bushes in front of her, and her pupils shrank instantly.
Two burly men in raincoats, holding guns, were searching for something in the jungle.
At this time, at this point, with weapons in hand, it wasn’t hard to guess what they were up to.
She could still handle one person, but what about two, or three?
Lin Yan looked back and clenched her phone tightly.
Song Yuhang, danger was looming.
What to do?
Those two people hadn’t noticed her yet. As long as she stepped lightly and moved silently, she could avoid the deadly danger by sneaking past them.
But…
What about Song Yuhang?
After finally meeting again, is this the end for her?
Lin Yan suddenly clenched her lips, feeling as if a dull knife was being sharpened in her heart.
After a moment, she seemed to make a significant decision. She wiped off the rainwater from her phone and desperately pressed the dial button, only to realize that the screen had malfunctioned due to being soaked in the rain for too long.
Lin Yan cursed inwardly: “F*ck!”
Seeing those two people approaching in this direction, about to discover Song Yuhang, Lin Yan acted without thinking. She quickly stood up and threw the useless phone, like a piece of scrap metal, at their feet. Then, she turned around and ran in the opposite direction of Song Yuhang.
Her slender and agile figure moved like a nimble deer in the forest, immediately catching the attention of the two men. The men in black quickly followed, their guns sparking in the rainy night.
Lin Yan leapt off the ground as if weightless, the bullet shattering the earth beneath her feet. She plunged headfirst into the thicket of bushes, branches and vines striking her face and causing pain.
Fortunately, the terrain was sloping downhill, allowing her to roll and crawl away, or else she wouldn’t have outrun the two strong adult men chasing her.
Song Yuhang heard the gunshot from the woods, momentarily dazed. Then, her opponent landed a punch squarely on her jaw.
She staggered backward, spitting out a bloody saliva and wiping her lip. Her eyes gleamed with determination as she wielded her mechanical stick and lunged forward.
She had to end this fight quickly and rush to see what was happening.
Pei Jinhong was an important witness; she couldn’t die.
She made up her mind and attacked with merciless force.
The two men behind Lin Yan were like ghosts, shadowing her every move.
Lin Yan couldn’t remember how far she had run. She fell and struggled to get up, covered in mud.
All she knew was that she was getting farther and farther away from Song Yuhang but getting closer and closer to death.
Her heart thumped violently inside her chest, as if it might leap out of her throat at any moment, and the taste of blood in her mouth grew increasingly intense.
Perhaps noticing her exhaustion from the relentless running, those two no longer fired their guns, instead closing in step by step, playing with her like a cat with a mouse.
Lin Yan spat out the sand in her mouth with a “ptui” and, hearing footsteps close by, scrambled up from the ground and stumbled forward.
Those two exchanged a glance, the one on the left making a gesture, and the one on the right immediately disappeared into the woods to start encircling from another direction.
They decided it was time to close the net.
And Lin Yan knew nothing of this.
The prolonged running rapidly depleted her strength, and the cold only exacerbated this state.

She could hear her own heavy breathing, her limbs gradually becoming powerless. Perhaps the rain was too heavy, as it felt slightly painful hitting her body.
Lin Yan leaned on a tree, occasionally kneeling and then struggling to get up and keep running, her vision starting to blur.
She thought to herself that she was never a great person, having chosen Song Yuhang between justice and principle. Although she bore a heavy mission and had promised Feng Jianguo to never give up until the goal was reached.
It seemed she was going to go back on her word after all.
Blurry thoughts crossed her mind as she fell once again into the mud and water, too weak to even lift a finger.
Is this… the end?
Lin Yan’s hand reached into a pile of leaves, finding a stone which she clenched in her palm, the friction painful, using this pain to keep her mind alert.
Before she could fully regain her senses, a sharp pain struck her waist. She was kicked over, a darkness came before her eyes, and she spat out a mouthful of blood-stained saliva.
The man in black grabbed her hair and lifted her up.
“I thought you were supposed to be tough—”
His words cut off abruptly, as if he had seen something unbelievable, fear rising in his eyes.
“A ghost? A ghost!”
His slightly shrill, distorted voice was especially terrifying in the rainy night forest.
Lin Yan curled her lips and smiled. The tear mole at the corner of her eye became even more vibrant as it was washed by the rain.
Seizing the opportunity while he was distracted, she lifted the stone in her right hand and fiercely smashed it towards his eye, not his head.
Hitting the back of the head wouldn’t be enough to kill him, but striking the eye would render him powerless in an instant.
It was a consideration born out of her forensic instinct.
Lin Yan indeed achieved speed, accuracy, and ruthlessness, compensating for her lack of strength.
The man let out a miserable scream, covering his face and stepping back, blood trickling through his fingers.
Lin Yan threw away the stone, got up, and started to run, but she collided with a solid human wall.
The other black-clad person arrived just in time, delivering a solid slap that sent her sprawling to the ground.
“What’s the rush? I’d like to see who the hell dares to act in this world…”
He grabbed her hair, and one hand clamped her jaw tightly, twisting her face, and he too was taken aback.
It’s so similar, especially the eyes.
Lin Yan has a pair of unforgettable, affectionate eyes that no one else could imitate.
The man in black was stunned, and he reached out to tear at her cheeks, but all he found were real muscles and bones, with no disguise mask or anything of the sort.
And the skin under his grasp was warm and delicate, feeling the flow of blood, not that of a dead person.
The man whose eye Lin Yan had injured staggered over, pointing at her face and yelling.
“If she’s not a ghost, what is she? She’s been long dead! How can there be someone in the world who looks so much like her!”
These two not only knew her but had also seen her before. Saying such things indicated they had seen her “dead”.
Lin Yan’s heart sank like falling into an icy cave.
Those wanting to kill Song Yuhang were people familiar with her, or to say, familiar with her.
She stared intently at the man’s face in front of her, trying to discern any clues. However, she had met too many people, and for the moment, she couldn’t remember who he was.
Her straightforward and probing gaze, which revealed a hint of murderous intent, ironically triggered the displeasure of the other person. The black-clad man holding her raised his hand and delivered a clean and decisive slap, causing Lin Yan’s head to turn slightly to the side. Her cheek swelled slightly, with a bloodstain forming at the corner of her lips.
Lin Yan coughed out the blood phlegm from her throat.
The man in black, still gripping her hair, pressed the gun against her forehead.
“Whoever it is, she’s in cahoots with that woman, so she’s an enemy. Kill her.”
The man who had been injured in the eye hesitated.
“What if, what if she’s really…”
What if they killed the wrong person? If Lin Yan didn’t die but they accidentally killed her, he thought of the imminent wrath of Lin Ge.
The two men exchanged glances, both unsure of what to do.
The man holding her hair ran his fingers across her cheek, repeatedly touching the tear mole, as if confirming something.
After a while, he clenched his lips and said.
“Search her.”
It was well-known that Lin Yan had been shot, not much of a secret.
The man who had been injured in the eye smirked. “You’re something else.”
Leaning against the tree, Lin Yan contemptuously curled her lip.
She thought they had some new tricks up their sleeves. Throughout history, it had always been the same: subjecting women in dire situations to “humiliation,” aiming to completely destroy their dignity and psyche.
Unfortunately, she was Lin Yan, and she wouldn’t fall for that. Even if she was humiliated here, she would find every means to bite their throats, drink their blood, and eat their flesh.
If they thought they could force her into submission with such filthy and despicable methods, they were completely mistaken.
“Tell me, who are you?!” the man squeezed her chin, his voice filled with malice.
Lin Yan slightly turned her head, refusing to answer.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of the treetops behind them swaying without any wind.
A huge weight lifted off Lin Yan’s heart.
She was still alive, she had come.
As for why she hid and didn’t come out, she probably had the same questions in her mind.
Well, better to let her see things clearly and give up hope.
Lin Yan didn’t answer, and when he twisted her chin again, she fiercely spat at him.
The man slapped her hard, causing Lin Yan’s vision to darken, followed by the sound of tearing fabric.
(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)
Her thin summer clothes were roughly ripped open, revealing the transparent straps and the tattoo on her shoulder but no scars.
A Manjushage flower1 quietly bloomed on her snowy shoulder.
The flower was slender and beautiful, its stem extending deeper, provoking envy.
“It’s really not her.” The one-eyed man exclaimed, and then felt somewhat relieved. Thankfully it wasn’t her; if it was the young lady, how they treated her tonight, they wouldn’t know how they’d die when they got back.
However, since that wasn’t the case, things became much easier.
The former Lin Yan used to be high and mighty, looking down on everyone. They had no right to touch her. Even Xiaoxiang couldn’t meet her gaze directly. But now, encountering a counterfeit, although it wasn’t her, it still satisfied their somewhat perverse curiosity.
“Well, since she’s not the one, she injured my eye, so I’ll take care of her.”
The man understood the excitement in his eyes and let go with a hint of disdain.
“Suit yourself. It should be over there as well. Hurry up, we still need to clean up the bodies afterward.”
As he approached her, ready to have his way, Lin Yan was restrained and bound to a tree. She slightly turned her head, exposing her vulnerable neck, and firmly stared at the forest.
And at someone hiding in the woods, whose whereabouts were unknown.
Song Yuhang, can you see it? I am not her.
Please, go quickly. I beg you, don’t come out.
Lin Yan’s eyes turned slightly red, her throat moved, silently praying in her heart. When she felt him about to reach her neck, she fiercely bit onto his earlobe, tearing it off in a gory mess.
A horrifying scream tore through the night sky.
In that instant.
Lin Yan looked up and saw the tree in front of her move. The canopy swayed, showering a light drizzle, and the fallen leaves on the ground trembled.
The one-eyed man didn’t have a chance to let out a second scream because he was quickly grasped by the throat.
A thunderous roar echoed through the sky as the cold light of lightning brushed past the corner of her eye, bringing a deathly silence. The tightly pressed lips, the chilling gaze, the bulging veins and muscles on her arm—all of them revealed the unspoken intent to kill.
Lin Yan had never seen her like this before.
Cold-blooded, bloodthirsty, and insane.
Whenever she struck, she always left room for maneuver, unlike now. After jumping down from the tree, she used a mechanical stick to grip the man’s throat, dragging him backward and forcing him to suffocate in the most straightforward and brutal manner.
The one-eyed man’s feet scraped against the ground as he desperately struggled, leaving two marks on the fallen leaves.
Song Yuhang’s hand, like a pair of iron tongs, firmly clutched his life’s gate.
She thought she had gone mad when she witnessed her being humiliated.
She knew she should have turned around and escaped to save her life, but in an instant, a surge of hot blood rushed to her head. Without thinking, she leaped out from her hiding place.
When she saw her, she finally understood why she was so furious.
She had a vague illusion that the one sitting there was Lin Yan, disheveled, with rainwater trickling down her gaunt chin, her eyes slightly red with tears, and utterly submissive.
She had gone mad, her eyes red too, as she let out a roar from her throat.
Until a gunshot sounded, and the man who was smoking and watching from nearby ran back without hesitation, pulling the trigger.
“Song Yuhang!” Lin Yan exclaimed in shock.
Instinctively, she ducked and moved her head back, and the man whose throat was gripped by the mechanical stick slumped down limply in front of her.
Blood splattered, and the black-clad man lay dead at her feet, his eyes wide open.
Lin Yan breathed heavily, gasping for air.
Song Yuhang dashed over in a single swift movement, the blade already unsheathed in her hand, slicing through the ropes that bound her and pushing the person out.
“Go!”
She knew she should leave decisively, without looking back.
Yet, she couldn’t help but turn around for a glance, subconsciously catching her own clothing corner.
Such a gesture and expression inevitably reminded her of Lin Yan in the past, who would reluctantly part when she was about to get up for work, like a tender cat.
A corner of Song Yuhang’s heart felt as if it had absorbed water like a sponge, slightly sinking.
Gunshots rang out beside their ears.
She grabbed her hand, pulling her into her arms, hugging her as they rolled together.
Bullets flew, hitting the fallen leaves and splashing onto them.
It was dim in the woods, and for a moment, with “bang and pop” sounds echoing, the man in black didn’t know if he had hit his target, seeing them still running, he shot again subconsciously, but to his surprise, there was no sound.
Out of bullets!
He gritted his teeth, but before he could retrieve a new magazine, he was knocked over by someone charging at him from the side.
Song Yuhang quickly got up, using her weight to pin him down. The mechanical stick had fallen somewhere, so she resorted to punching him relentlessly, blow after blow, aiming viciously at his face.
“You just slapped her three times, and this punch is the first slap, returning it to you!”
Song Yuhang roared, tearing at his collar, her fists striking like the wind, brutally smashing into his nose.
The black-clad man let out a miserable scream, blood spraying from his nose, and then another punch struck his jaw, causing teeth to shatter and fly out.
Song Yuhang’s eyes turned bloodshot with rage. “Second slap, returning it to you too!”
“And the third slap, I’ll give it to you!” She gnashed her teeth fiercely, and another punch landed on his eye socket, causing the brow bone to cave in, and his eyeball quickly became swollen and bloodshot.
Song Yuhang gasped for breath, blood covering her knuckles, both her own and the man’s.
The black-clad man seized a moment to catch his breath, knowing that he had to give it his all or he would die.
He let out a loud roar, kneeing her in the abdomen, sending her flying. Quickly getting up, he tightly grabbed her neck.
Song Yuhang refused to back down. She raised her elbow and struck his head, forcing him to release his grip, ultimately kicking him over.
They would fall, then rise again. Necks would be gripped, and opportunities seized to deliver a powerful punch.
The two beasts fought for their lives in the forest.
Leaves scattered, mud and water splattered.
(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)
Song Yuhang took a step back, wiping away the blood that had been struck from her nose, and then lunged forward again. She locked her arms around him and executed a powerful back throw, slamming him fiercely into the muddy ground.
The black-clad man groaned in pain, coughing up blood, but as she reached to grab his clothes, he grabbed a handful of mud and smeared it towards her eyes.
Song Yuhang was forced to defend herself, but she was kicked in the chest and fell into a pile of leaves.
The black-clad man pounced on her, squeezing her neck with all his might.
Song Yuhang’s eyes widened in despair, her fingers futilely clawing at the dirt on the ground. Gradually, she struggled to breathe, her face turning pale.
Amidst the scattered dry tree branches on the ground, Lin Yan reached out and found the mechanical stick that belonged to her. Taking a deep breath, she shouted, “Song Yuhang, catch!”
The mechanical stick landed steadily by her side.
Song Yuhang glanced at her, then at the wicked black-clad man. Summoning her last ounce of strength, she grabbed the stick and fiercely struck the man’s temple with all her might, sending him flying.
She swiftly leaped up, executing a seamless combination of strikes, sweeps, and hooks—a deadly technique that Lin Yan had taught her when they practiced with the stick.
She performed it flawlessly.
Lin Yan watched in awe, her eyes filled with tears and indescribable excitement.
Song Yuhang jumped up and delivered a final powerful blow to the man’s skull. Under the heavy impact, the black-clad man lost all resistance. He slowly knelt down, his body slumping to the ground.
Song Yuhang, exhausted, felt her strength drain away. The stick slipped from her grasp as she knelt backward and slowly lay down on the ground, savoring a moment of tranquility.
There was silence in the world, the rain had stopped, and the moon peeked through the clouds.
Song Yuhang lay in the muddy water, turning her head to look at Lin Yan. Both of them shared a joy of surviving against all odds.
Gritting her teeth, she propped herself up from the ground, picked up the mechanical stick, and limped towards her.
“Let’s go, I’ll take you home.”
Song Yuhang reached out her hand to her.
The hand that had just been in a fight was stained with blood, the palm lines were clear and visible, and the knuckles were long and distinct.
Lin Yan smiled and sat on the ground without moving.
“My legs are numb; I can’t get up.”
