Trending Again – Chapter 44

Extra: Visiting The Parent’s Home Series (1)

The sky has yet to break dawn, and the crowing of roosters echoes intermittently. A misty haze envelops the area, shrouded in obscurity. Outside the window, the green leaves are dripping with murky moisture. At this moment, a strand of black hair brushes against the curtain by the window. Through the rain-drenched glass, it gazes down upon this unfamiliar and distant city.

Lin Hanyue is adorned in a light-colored nightgown, leaning against a mahogany chair by the window. Her slender fingers, distinct and elegant, are lightly intertwined on her lap with a touch of unease.

Si Meng rubs her bleary eyes and takes a moment to discern the indistinct figure as Lin Hanyue. Puzzled, she mutters, “You’re not sleeping so late at night. Are you experiencing insomnia? Or perhaps afraid of the dark?”

In response to Si Meng’s words, Lin Hanyue smiles somewhat helplessly, then quietly approaches the bed, slipping into the cozy warmth of the covers. She says, “Tomorrow, I’m going to meet your parents, your brother, and your sister-in-law. I’m feeling a bit nervous…”

Si Meng bursts into laughter and reaches out to embrace Lin Hanyue’s shoulder, gently guiding her into the blankets. She chuckles, “Don’t worry, you have me. Besides, my family is very easy to get along with.”

Under Si Meng ‘s consolation, Lin Hanyue gradually feels a subtle fatigue. An inexplicable sense of security covers all the unknown fears, as if one day, a person appears who is both a vulnerability and a suit of armor.

The first meeting with the parents takes place amid noisy bickering.

Si Meng and her group board the earliest flight. Due to the rushed schedule, they have no time for breakfast and pay no attention to the changes in temperature and time difference. Si Teng is extremely dissatisfied with Lin Te’s arrangements for this trip.

Si Teng raises her foot to trip Lin Te, but he doesn’t notice and narrowly avoids falling flat. Lin Te spits out in contempt, pretends to do a few push-ups, and silently gets up, refusing to fight with a woman.

Si Meng lazily leans back in the massage chair in the first-class cabin, ingeniously pulling out nutritional meals, fruit salads, sandwiches, chicken breast…

Staring with anticipation, Si Teng swallows hard and asks, “I guess you can’t finish it all?”

Si Meng extends her finger and shakes it in front of Si Teng, replying, “This isn’t for you. Come on, Yueyue, open your mouth, ah.”

Lin Hanyue opens her mouth, and it gets filled with a mouthful. So, did Si Meng wake up early just to prepare breakfast for her?

Lin Hanyue slices off a tender piece of chicken breast and instinctively places it near Si Meng’s mouth. Si Meng immediately grabs it and starts chewing slowly.

“Yueyue, is it delicious?”

“It’s delicious.”

“Really?”

“Mmm, probably because you made it with your own hands. It’s filled with the taste of your love.”

“Stop it, everyone’s watching.” Si Meng playfully scolds Lin Hanyue and gives her a light tap. Hanyue immediately holds Si Meng’s hand and pulls her close into her embrace.

Si Teng remains expressionless, almost choked by this dog food. She glances back at Lin Te and decides that she would rather indulge in this display of affection, eating dog food, than be with that deadbeat straight guy in the back.

After a six-hour flight, they finally landed in Country M. Si Meng happily held Lin Hanyue’s hand and enthusiastically introduced the interesting sights around. However, within a few minutes, the private car from the Si family arrived.

The elderly butler, Si Bo, with a hunched back and snowy white hair fluttering, boarded the car. He was getting older, but his spirit was exceptionally vibrant. He smiled and guided Si Meng, saying, “Second Miss, Master and Madam have been worried about you. Please don’t indulge in fun and forget to come home.”

Si Meng muttered a few words in his ear. Si Bo’s eyes lit up, and he gave Si Meng a thumbs-up, ceasing his well-intentioned advice.

Si Meng whispered, “I asked you to discreetly mention my love story earlier to my parents. They didn’t have an extreme reaction, did they?”

Si Bo pondered for a moment and replied, “No, not really. It’s just that they might not know that you have a girlfriend.” he looked troubled, as he could tell that the Second Miss had strong feelings for the lady by her side.

“No worries, I’ll persuade them. Thanks, Uncle Si. I’ll bring you back an authentic bottle of Maotai,” Si Meng said, and Si Bo smiled, his face beaming. He had a taste for it.

The two of them got into the Si family’s private car while Si Teng, Lin Te, and a group of bodyguards squeezed into another car. Si Meng dialed a number and, within a few seconds, the other person picked up.

“Hey, bro, spending the night at the office again? Hehe, did you have another argument with your wife?” Si Meng gloated mischievously.

Si Ze ruffled his messy hair and irritably scratched his head. His sister seemed to know everything. He replied, “Yeah, your sister has her eyes on some fancy bag that’s almost as expensive as my sneakers. I didn’t buy it, so now she’s giving me the silent treatment.”

“Is it the new Weilaya model? Well, you’re in trouble. That can last for weeks.”

Si Ze couldn’t understand. It was just a bag, after all. He said, “Forget about her. Little sis, I miss you so much. There’s no one cooking for me anymore. When are you coming back?”

Si Meng smiled, looking out the car window as familiar buildings flashed by. She replied, “I’m coming back right now, silly big brother. You’re behind on the news.”

Si Ze stood up from his chair in excitement, laughing and complaining, “Why didn’t you say so when you were coming back? I could have gone to pick you up.”

Si Meng giggled, leaning against Lin Hanyue’s embrace. She raised her gaze and planted a kiss on the tip of Lin Hanyue’s chin, teasingly saying, “Why do you want to be a third wheel?”

Si Ze clutched his chest, feeling a pang of pain. His little sister had grown up and wasn’t holding back anymore. He asked, “You brought Lin Hanyue back? She didn’t take advantage of you, right? I’m not the last one to know… am I?”

Si Meng got fed up and shouted, “Stop babbling already! If you keep it up, I’ll hang up on you. We’ll have dinner later, and Mom and Dad don’t know yet. Let’s surprise them.” She abruptly hung up the phone, paying no mind to Si Ze’s response.

Si Ze: “…” Ultimately, he had been misunderstood.

Upon returning to the Si family home, Si Meng tightly held Lin Hanyue’s hand and forcefully pushed open the door, startling Mother Si, who was holding freshly arranged flowers. Mother Si adjusted her glasses and recognized Si Meng.

“Oh, Mom, I missed you so much~” Si Meng bounced around like a sloth and clung onto Mother Si. Mother Si reached out to support her buttocks, afraid she might accidentally fall.

“You, even at this age, still so loud and energetic. You really don’t let your mom relax,” Mother Si scolded, but her face was already beaming with joy.

Lin Hanyue watched the heartwarming scene and couldn’t help but feel a tinge of envy. Ever since her father passed away, her mother had become distant and rarely showed affection towards her. She had been raised to follow various rules and etiquette since childhood, let alone being as playful with her own mother as Si Meng.

Si Meng came down from Mother Si’s embrace and held Lin Hanyue’s hand, approaching Mother Si. Mother Si adjusted her glasses, carefully and politely sizing up Lin Hanyue.

“Hello, I’m Si Meng’s mother. You can call me Aunt Yun,” Mother Si extended her hand, ready to shake hands with her.

Lin Hanyue shook hands with her, displaying her knowledge and manners. She said, “Hello, Aunt Yun. My name is Lin Hanyue. I’m Mengmeng’s good friend, and I’m delighted to come and play at Mengmeng’s house.”

Mother Si’s smile deepened. She cherished having such a polite child. Mother Si wanted to say something more but was interrupted by Si Meng pulling her to the side.

Si Meng hesitated with words, then said, “Mom, I… it’s her, oh well, I and her…”

Understanding her daughter’s intention, Mother Si interjected, “Go ahead, I, your mom, can accept it. What about the child?”

Si Meng gathered her courage and said, “Lin Hanyue and I are lovers.”

“Ah? Oh~” Mother Si revealed an expression of “So that’s how it is.”

Si Meng opened one eye and continued, “And we even got officially registered!”

This time it was Mother Si’s turn to be dumbfounded. She knocked on Si Meng’s head and earnestly said, “I knew it! You lovebird! You should have discussed this with us. What if the other person is a scammer? You’re my precious daughter.”

Si Meng clung to Mother Si’s arm and acted coquettishly. Mother Si’s heart instantly melted. Si Meng said, “Mom, Hanyue treats me very well.”

Mother Si smiled and shook her head, unable to resist her. She said, “Alright, alright, if she’s good to you, then don’t worry. I won’t make things difficult for her.”

Si Meng and Mother Si returned to Lin Hanyue with smiles on their faces, their understanding unspoken.

Mother Si enthusiastically invited Lin Hanyue to explore the house together, while Si Meng sulkingly headed into the kitchen to cook.

Mother Si brought Lin Hanyue to Si Meng’s room, which was a pink princess-themed room, clearly showing the family’s love for Si Meng.

Suddenly, Mother Si’s expression turned serious, but her tone remained as gentle as ever. She said, “You’re Mengmeng’s girlfriend, right?”

Lin Hanyue answered truthfully, “She is the love of my life, and I want to grow old with her.”

Mother Si smiled. She was satisfied with this answer and then opened Si Meng’s childhood photos, speaking to herself, “Mengmeng went through a lot of hardships when she was young. It was our failure to protect her properly. That’s why she grew up wanting to make up for it and why we have been lenient in disciplining her.”

Staring directly into Lin Hanyue’s eyes, she said, “I hope you will take good care of Mengmeng. If you dare to harm her even a bit, remember that the Si family doesn’t take things lightly.”

Lin Hanyue maintained a calm and confident demeanor as she said, “With me here, no one can harm her, including all of you.” Mother Si was taken aback. This person seemed to have turned the tables?

Mother Si suddenly burst into laughter. She admired her courage and found her amusing.

There was a commotion outside the door, and Si Ze rushed in, visibly flustered. He saw his own mother and Lin Hanyue.

Si Ze glared at Lin Hanyue. This guy was really bad, daring to snatch away his little sister.

“Long time no see, Lin Hanyue, oh, now it should be called Lin Yinghao1.” Si Ze said with a playful and nonchalant tone.

Lin Hanyue refused to back down and said, “Long time no see, Si Ze, oh, now it should be called Deputy General Manager Si.”

The two confronted each other with sharp words, but their exchange was interrupted by Si Meng, who approached them and called them to have dinner.

Back when Si Meng and Lin Hanyue had a breakup argument, Si Ze had been involved. In Si Ze’s eyes, Lin Hanyue was nothing more than a trashy girl with a built-in filter.
