After Transmigrating into the Villain’s Cat, I Dominated the Entertainment Circle – Chapter 67

We’re the Best Match

Trying Hard

Feng Tingyun ripped off Lu Heng’s sunglasses. “You think I’m blind?!”

“Yeah, I do.” Lu Heng snatched his sunglasses off in return, holding up his phone. “I’m recording. If you don’t let go, believe me, I’ll put you on the hot search.1

Feng Tingyun threw an arm around his neck, furiously forcing him down. “You’re the one with the rotten character!”

Lu Heng grabbed him and pulled him down, the narrow aisle turning into a battlefield.

Lin Sifei watched from the side, stunned, clutching her bag as she shrank away.

Rip!2 A tear appeared in the sleeve of Feng Tingyun’s trench coat.

“Hey! What are you two doing?!”

Hearing someone approach, Lu Heng lowered his voice. “Film Emperor3 Feng, save yourself some face.”

“Then you let go first.”

Lu Heng took a deep breath. “I’ll count to three, and we’ll let go together.”

“Fine!”

“One, two, three!”

They let go at the same time. Lin Sifei stared at Feng Tingyun’s half-torn sleeve and pointed silently.

Feng Tingyun glanced down, gave it a hard tug, and ripped the whole thing off. He undid the buttons on the other sleeve, buttoned up two buttons on his coat, and slicked his hair back with a flourish.

The staff member clearing the theater looked at them. “The movie’s over. Please leave now.”

Feng Tingyun smiled and nodded. “Sorry, we were just discussing the plot and lost track of time.”

He amicably slung an arm over Lu Heng’s shoulder. “Bro, let’s go grab a bite and chat.”

Lu Heng frowned and turned his head away. “Lin Sifei, let’s go.”

“Okay.” Lin Sifei walked ahead with her bag. She pressed her lips together in exasperation. She felt like she had just been watching a pair of primary school chickens.4

She was silent for a moment, thinking about what Lu Heng had said. This Feng Tingyun has a pretty bad temper, but his public persona is that of a gentle and noble young man. The contrast is huge, but then again, you really can’t get by in this industry with a personality like that.

She glanced back at the smiling, buddy-buddy Feng Tingyun, then quickly turned away again. If she remembered correctly, this Feng Tingyun always had a gentle public persona in the book. He was that generic, cure-all5 second male lead. There was no mention of him being so explosive.

Did the plot deviate that much, or did Feng Tingyun just never show his true side to Yan Yafei?

If it’s the latter… was it because he didn’t trust the female lead, or was he just trying to maintain his image?

Outside the movie theater, Feng Tingyun still had his arm hooked around Lu Heng’s shoulder. He smiled and extended a hand to Lin Sifei. “Hello, I’m Feng Tingyun. I was just a bit ticked off by this guy earlier. Are you free? Why don’t we all grab a meal together?”

Lu Heng slapped his hand away. “No thanks. Film Emperor Feng is famous. It wouldn’t be good if someone saw us.”

Feng Tingyun hooked his arm around his neck again, threatening, “It’s good that you know I’m famous. Believe it or not, if I take off my sunglasses right now, I’ll send all three of us to the top of the hot search.”

Lu Heng’s own threat was thrown right back at him. He glanced at Lin Sifei. This Feng Tingyun was a tornado6 who would do anything. He didn’t want to drag Lin Sifei into it, so he finally, reluctantly, gave in.

Feng Tingyun smiled and patted his cheek. “Perfect. I’ve already booked a private room. Let’s go together.”

The three of them, all wearing sunglasses, walked through the mall looking like a group of criminals. The moment the door to the private room closed, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

“That was exhausting, just for one trip out.”

“The great Film Emperor could’ve just stayed home,” Lu Heng retorted.

“Can’t be helped. I’m just that popular.” Feng Tingyun pulled a smirk that wasn’t quite a smile. He picked up a cup from the table, poured some tea, and downed it in one go.

He passed the menu to Lin Sifei, his expression instantly shifting back to a gentle one. “Ladies first. You can order.”

“Thank you.” Lin Sifei took the menu, shrinking back slightly. There’s something seriously wrong with this Feng Tingyun.

Lu Heng sat beside her, his face just as cold, a complete departure from his usual considerate and gentle demeanor.

Lin Sifei ordered a few dishes and passed the menu to Lu Heng. “Lu Heng-ge, see if there’s anything you want to eat.”

Feng Tingyun’s eyebrow shot up. “Ge? Are you two boyfriend and girlfriend?”

“We’re not!” Lin Sifei immediately shot back. Realizing she was protesting a bit too much, like a sign declaring ‘no three hundred taels of silver here,’7 she immediately sat up straight. “I have a girlfriend. We’re getting engaged soon.”

Feng Tingyun, who had just been taking a sip of water, choked violently. He stared at Lin Sifei, then at Lu Heng. “She’s a lesbian, and you’re still this close to her?”

The moment he said that, both Lin Sifei’s and Lu Heng’s expressions turned ugly.

Lin Sifei let out a cold laugh, her hand tightening around her cup. “What? Is the great Film Emperor homophobic?”

“No.” Feng Tingyun looked confused, his gaze fixed on Lu Heng.

Soon, the dishes arrived. Lin Sifei took a couple of bites and found the food was actually quite good.

“How is it? Tastes pretty good, right?” Feng Tingyun said with a smiling, raised eyebrow.

Lin Sifei still remembered what he’d said earlier, but his subsequent actions didn’t seem homophobic. She mentally rolled a white eye.8 This Feng Tingyun’s brain isn’t screwed on right. Better not get too close to him.

Halfway through the meal, Feng Tingyun casually poked at a chicken leg on his plate. “Silly roe deer,9 I heard you just finished shooting an art-house film10 with Director Chen.”

Lu Heng’s hand, which had been bringing food to his mouth, suddenly clenched. “You need to drop that habit of calling people stupid nicknames.”

“Fine, Lu Heng.” Feng Tingyun sat up straight. “How did the shoot go?”

“Very well.”

Feng Tingyun rolled his eyes and turned to Lin Sifei. “Miss Lin was the female lead, right? How was the movie?”

“It was great. Lu Heng-ge did an amazing job as the male lead. The character’s personality is a bit like Lu Heng-ge’s, so I think it’ll be popular.”

“Were there any passion scenes? Kissing scenes?”

“Ahem!” Lu Heng coughed loudly, glaring at him.

Lin Sifei, however, wasn’t bothered. “No, Director Chen prefers a fresh and pure style. There was a kissing scene, but we used a camera angle trick.11

She smiled as she spoke, looking down to peel a shrimp, but her eyes kept darting between the two men. “Lu Heng-ge told me before that he wasn’t very familiar with Film Emperor Feng.”

“We’re really not,” Feng Tingyun said, his energy suddenly flagging a bit. “It’s been a long, long time since we’ve been in touch, right?”

“Four years,” Lu Heng said, glancing at him. “Why did you suddenly talk to me this time?”

“No reason. You were cursing me out, and I happened to overhear you.”

Lin Sifei looked at him, feeling that the truth wasn’t as simple as it seemed. Her eyes shifted as she decided to test the waters directly.
“Senior12 Feng, do you know a newcomer named Yan Yafei?”

Feng Tingyun’s hand paused. He looked up at her. “Why are you asking about her?”

“Well, you could say we’re from the same cohort, more or less. And we’ve had a few interactions.”

“Yan Yafei? Wasn’t that the name of the friend Feng Xiao knew before?” Lu Heng joined the discussion, frowning. He’d had a bad feeling about that girl, especially after Feng Xiao met her and changed in a frightening way.

Seeing that he also knew Yan Yafei, Feng Tingyun immediately grew tense. “That woman is bad news. You stay away from her.”

Lin Sifei raised an eyebrow, forgetting about the shrimp in her hand. “Senior Feng, why would you say that? Yan Yafei just entered the circle,13 didn’t she? Don’t tell me you know her?”

“I’ll give you two the inside scoop. Yan Yafei previously latched onto the President of Yuan Corporation. Now that President Yuan has temporarily stepped down, she’s been openly and secretly extending an olive branch14 to me, and she’s also gotten friendly with a few other bosses. Her methods are incredible; she makes those guys do whatever she wants. You two need to stay far away from her.”

Lin Sifei was pleasantly surprised. From the sound of it, they won’t even need to turn Feng Tingyun to their side—he’s already on it.

“Why would we get involved with her? You’re the one who should be careful, Senior. You’re her target,” Lin Sifei replied with a smile.

Feng Tingyun glanced at Lu Heng, then lowered his head and grunted in agreement.

After the meal, Lin Sifei made a mental note of the restaurant’s location, planning to come back with Luo Ke next time.

She was about to send Luo Ke a message on WeChat when she suddenly remembered they were still sort of in a fight. The issue with the company shares hadn’t been resolved.

Her face scrunched up in frustration.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Heng asked, standing up.

Lin Sifei looked at him. “It’s still that thing you said about showing off affection.15 What am I supposed to do about these shares? I don’t want them, but she insists on giving them to me.”

Feng Tingyun stood nearby, putting on his sunglasses. “It’s a pie falling from the sky.16 You’d have to be an idiot not to take it.”

Lin Sifei ignored the man with the broken brain and looked at Lu Heng.

Lu Heng thought for a moment, then patted her shoulder. “Just tell her how you feel. President Luo will understand you. Because she loves you, she’ll definitely respect you.”

Lin Sifei nodded, then looked at him, a little embarrassed. “President Luo is always the one giving in to me. Am I being disrespectful to her?”

“It’s probably because you haven’t forced anything on President Luo yet. You’ve always been respecting her.”

Hearing that answer, Lin Sifei’s little conscience could finally rest a bit easier in her chest.

She happily ran off to call Luo Ke. “Hey, Luo Ke, I’m done with dinner with my friends! Are you off work yet?”

“Are you going to be at the office for lunch?” Lin Sifei pouted, thinking. “Then I’ll bring you something! I’m at the mall anyway, there are tons of restaurants.”

Luo Ke agreed, and Lin Sifei’s face broke into a happy smile. “Okay, I’ll be there in a bit!”

She hung up and looked at Lu Heng. “You guys can go ahead. I’m going to get some takeout.”

Lu Heng saw her beaming expression, nodded, and turned to leave. Feng Tingyun let out a cold snort and followed him.

Lin Sifei cheerfully picked a fish hot pot restaurant and got an order to go.

She hailed a cab to the company building, holding the takeout container.

Luo Ke must have given the front desk a heads-up, because Lin Sifei got upstairs without any trouble. Inside, the employees once again marveled at the beauty of their future boss’s wife, fantasized for a moment about digging at President Luo’s wall,17 and finally went back to eating their sad cafeteria food.

Lin Sifei walked to the office door and knocked.

Luo Ke was focused on a document and, hearing the knock, assumed it was Zhao Min. “Come in.”

Lin Sifei pushed the door open, closed it behind her, and walked toward her.

“What is it?” Luo Ke looked up. When she saw it was Lin Sifei, her brain hadn’t even caught up before her face was already smiling.
“You’re here.”

Lin Sifei placed the takeout container on the desk. “Fish hot pot. This place is amazing, the fish is so tender.”

She smiled and helped Luo Ke open the lid. The moment it was lifted, a rich aroma spilled out. “It smells so good.”

Lin Sifei smiled and handed her the chopsticks. “Hurry, try it.”

Luo Ke ate a piece and nodded.

“It’s delicious, right?” Lin Sifei said, smiling as she dragged a stool over to sit beside her.

Luo Ke picked up a piece of fish and held it out to feed her.

Lin Sifei had already eaten, but seeing the fish, she couldn’t help but open her mouth.

“I can’t eat anymore. I just had a huge meal, I’m going to get fat.”

“Then get fat. It’ll be a good way to correct the current view that being skinny as a bone is a good thing,” Luo Ke declared with righteous indignation, continuing to feed her.

After being fed several more times, Lin Sifei finally resolved that she absolutely couldn’t eat anymore.

She licked her lips and changed the subject. “About that share transfer contract.”

Luo Ke’s chopsticks paused. She felt a pang in her stomach.

She immediately sat up straight. “I’ve thought about it. Since you don’t want to accept my gift, then I’ll respect your wishes.”

Lin Sifei reached out and grabbed her hand, saying earnestly, “Luo Ke, it’s not that I don’t want your gifts. I’m very happy when you give me things. But this is different. We’re getting engaged, and I don’t want people to talk about us with a contemptuous tone in the future.”

“I hope that one day, what people remember is this couple: one a business prodigy, the other a peerless Film Queen.”

“We’re the best match.”
