That “Bad” Woman Next Door – Chapter 55

Another Extra You All Wanted.

Because she’d eaten hot pot without any restraint, Yuan Yue’s stomach was a wreck. She was vomiting above and having diarrhea below, a complete mess. Yu Xi had no choice but to take a day off to bring her to the hospital.

The doctor gave her a quick look, prescribed some medicine, offered a few words of advice, and that was that. After the appointment, Yu Xi helped the haggard-looking Yuan Yue walk out.

Along the way, Yu Xi advised her with a bitter mouth and a grandmother’s heart1. “You need to eat less spicy food from now on. Look, the pimples on your face are back.” As she spoke, she pinched Yuan Yue’s waist and frowned. “Feels like you’ve put on a bit of weight, too. It seems you haven’t been exercising much lately.”

Crushed by her words, Yuan Yue kept her head down, letting out a few unwilling whimpers of protest.

Yu Xi couldn’t bear to tease her anymore and chuckled. “Don’t worry, I wouldn’t dare do anything reckless while you’re not feeling well. We’ll wait until you’re better.”

Only then did Yuan Yue let her heart settle back into her stomach, slowly straightening up.

Seeing how weak she was and how unnaturally pale her face was, Yu Xi couldn’t help but worry. “Do you want me to carry you?”

Yuan Yue glanced at her small frame and asked doubtfully, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll crush you flat?”

“Not at all.” Yu Xi smiled faintly, grabbing her hand and placing it on her own shoulder. She took a deep breath and said, “Come on, give it a try.”

Yuan Yue was still a little hesitant.

“Hurry up,” Yu Xi urged, shaking her hand.

Yuan Yue couldn’t win against her and finally gave in. “Okay, I’m coming up. You better take it easy.”

With that, she pushed off with her legs and leaped lightly onto Yu Xi’s back.

Yu Xi’s hands moved nimbly to catch her legs.

Yuan Yue carefully wrapped her arms around her neck and cried out softly in her heart, not daring to speak too loudly. “I’m really heavy, aren’t I?”

Yu Xi bounced her up a little, saying without even breathing hard, “You are a little bit.”

“Maybe you should put me down?” Yuan Yue blushed slightly.

Even though the weather had started to cool down, she was still afraid of tiring Yu Xi out.

“You’re looking down on me, aren’t you?” Yu Xi said nonchalantly. “How can I put you down before we’ve even started walking?”

“Then be careful…”

Yu Xi didn’t say another word, carrying her steadily for several meters.

As Yuan Yue’s tense body gradually relaxed, she held the bag of medicine in one hand and used the other to pull out the strands of Yu Xi’s hair that were trapped under her. Suddenly, she leaned her whole head next to her ear and said with a giggle, “Have you ever seen 《Journey to the West》2?”

Yu Xi thought for a moment. “I’ve seen a little of it.”

Yuan Yue twirled a lock of her hair, brushing the ends against her neck. “Have you seen the part where Zhu Bajie carries his wife3?” she asked softly.

Yu Xi paused to think again, and in the next second, she realized she’d fallen into Yuan Yue’s trap. She couldn’t help but pinch her butt and say irritably, “Alright, you silly wifey, so you’re calling me a pig.”

Yu Xi hadn’t actually used much force, but Yuan Yue played along, howling dramatically and squirming around on her back.

Yu Xi was a little worried she might fall off and didn’t dare joke with her anymore. She scolded her, her tone as formal as a serious book4, “Don’t move.”

Yuan Yue immediately stopped moving and lay obediently on her back. Just as she was about to whisper a few sweet nothings into her ear to soothe her, she inadvertently saw two people standing not far away.

Yuan Yue’s heart skipped a beat. The smile vanished from her face, and her body slowly straightened up. She looked at the two people ahead and said, “Put me down. It’s not good if people see us.”

But Yu Xi retorted, “I’m carrying my own wife to the doctor. Who am I bothering? If they want to look, let them look.”

Yu Xi’s voice, neither loud nor soft, happened to drift right into the ears of the two people ahead. One of them had a calm expression, but the other’s eyes were glazed over, and her body swayed slightly.

Yuan Yue was helpless. She patted Yu Xi’s shoulder to signal that there was someone in front of them.

Yu Xi looked up, following her gesture, and unexpectedly saw a freshly dressed Sun Wenjing supporting Sun Wenya, who was wearing maternity clothes. They were just standing there dumbly, and there was no telling how long they’d been watching.

Yu Xi paused for a moment before finally setting Yuan Yue down.

The moment Yuan Yue’s feet touched the ground, the lively Sun Wenjing ran over, saying excitedly, “Yueyue-jie, it really is you! I thought I was seeing things. What a coincidence!”

It really is a coincidence, she thought. Of all the times to come to the hospital, I can’t believe I’d run into Sun Wenya here.

Not having seen each other for so long, it was inevitably a bit awkward. Sun Wenya walked over slowly, her expression unnatural. “I was going to take a detour, but I didn’t expect to run into you after all.”

Yuan Yue didn’t care about that anymore. Her gaze shifted down to Sun Wenya’s slightly bulging belly, and she asked perfunctorily, “How many months along is the baby?”

Sun Wenya probably hadn’t expected Yuan Yue to be willing to speak to her. She froze for a second, then gave a faint smile. “Almost three months.”

Yuan Yue smiled back. “Congratulations, you’re going to be a mom soon.”

“Thanks.” Sun Wenya wasn’t used to this kind of small talk with her. She averted her gaze to the silent Yu Xi standing beside them and hesitated. “You two…”

“We registered our marriage in Germany last month,” Yuan Yue said, not knowing what she was about to ask but wanting to tell her the truth plainly.

Sun Wenya looked at her, stunned, at a loss for words.

“You don’t mind that I didn’t invite you to the wedding, do you?”

Seeing the blissful smile on her face, Sun Wenya forced the corners of her mouth up and said bitterly, “Of course not…”

“Shouldn’t you congratulate us, too?” Yuan Yue said, half-joking.

Sun Wenya bit her lower lip and said stiffly, “Congratulations.”

“Thanks.”

Sun Wenya’s hand unconsciously caressed her round belly, her eyes darting about. She took a step closer and lowered her voice. “So… will you two have children in the future?”

Yuan Yue raised an eyebrow and answered crisply, “Probably not.”

“Then…”

“Right, wifey?” Yuan Yue tilted her head to ask for Yu Xi’s opinion, neatly cutting off the words that were on the tip of Sun Wenya’s tongue.

Sun Wenya wanted to speak but stopped, a trace of loneliness suddenly flashing across her face.

Yu Xi returned a warm smile and looked at Yuan Yue dotingly. “Whatever you say.”

Sun Wenya instantly felt like a third wheel. She lowered her eyes and saw Yuan Yue’s and Yu Xi’s hands, their fingers intertwined. Her gaze froze on the sparkling diamond ring.

Yuan Yue and Yu Xi were showing off their affection as if no one else was beside them5, completely oblivious to Sun Wenya’s strange behavior. “Well, we’ve chatted enough,” Yuan Yue said, taking charge. “We’ll get going first. Bye-bye!”

The completely confused Sun Wenjing never managed to get a word in. Watching Yuan Yue and Yu Xi walk away hand in hand, she asked blankly, “Jie, why didn’t I understand a single thing you were all talking about? Did Yueyue-jie say she got married?”

Sun Wenya switched to holding her belly with both hands. Facing the direction they’d left, she narrowed her eyes and said, as if speaking to herself, “They really did get married after all. It’s completely over between her and me.”

In the distance, the couple, who were going further and further away6, walked and stopped intermittently.

Yu Xi turned to look at Yuan Yue. Seeing that her expression had recovered, she asked with a smile, “Silly wifey, what are you giggling so foolishly about?”

Yuan Yue was grinning from ear to ear, in no mood to answer her.

Seeing that she couldn’t get a straight answer, Yu Xi changed the subject. “Do you want me to keep carrying you?”

Yuan Yue was now full of energy, so happy she felt like she could fly. She said teasingly, “No need. You really think you’re a pig now?”

Yu Xi knew she was making fun of her again. She was about to tickle her as punishment when she suddenly made a connection. “Actually, I think it’d be pretty fun to have a litter of piglets.”

Yuan Yue was shocked. She looked at her warily. “Are you giving birth, or am I?”

“It’s the same no matter who gives birth, don’t you think?” Yu Xi gave her a smile that was deep with meaning.

Yuan Yue waved her hands frantically in refusal. “No, let’s not. I’m afraid my figure will be ruined after having a baby. I’d still like to see my little barbarian waist7 in this lifetime.”

Yu Xi pulled her into her arms and coaxed, “I’m not afraid. How about I give birth for you?”

Yuan Yue studied her expression carefully. She didn’t seem to be joking at all, which made her a little nervous. She stammered, “N-no, let’s not. Having kids is too much trouble.”

“Why?” Yu Xi sounded a little disappointed.

Yuan Yue hugged her back, burying her head in her soft chest. “Stupid wife,” she said sweetly, “because having you in this life is enough!”
