After Agreeing to Go on a Parenting Show With My Omega Ex-Girlfriend – Chapter 99

Extra 1: Final Chapter

Now, hurry and get up, come over and kiss me.

The first rain since the beginning of autumn fell during the night.

The wind smashed raindrops against the floor-to-ceiling windows with a crisp, tinkling sound. The climbing roses in the courtyard swayed in the wind, their lush, heavy petals soaked until they were all the more tender and tantalizing.

A cat’s tail, soft, white, and fluffy as a cloud, swept lightly, trembling as it was assailed by the rain and soaked through.

Its fur, saturated with water, drooped limply, creating a kind of messy yet fragile beauty.

The tail rose and fell with its owner’s emotions, now stretching out in a gentle lift, now curling up with a shiver, looking utterly pitiful.

The rain grew heavier and heavier, splashing all over the courtyard. The roses could no longer bear the abuse, their petals scattering as they were battered by the fierce wind.

A small dog’s pair of orange-yellow ears were sopping wet, their downy fur dotted with plump, crystalline drops.

The ears gave a little shake, brushing against a rose petal that had drifted down on the wind and making it seem all the more vibrant.

“The rain was so heavy last night.”

Early in the morning, Taotao and Ah Ran were playing hand-in-hand in the courtyard.

The ground was covered in brilliant gold fallen leaves and crimson petals, all mashed together by the rain into a terrible mess.

Ah Ran wasn’t watching her step and tripped, falling right on her bottom.

She sat amidst the fallen leaves, her pants quickly soaking through and her bottom growing ice-cold.

A sheen of moisture slowly welled up in her big, black-gem-like eyes as she looked quietly at Taotao.

“Jiejie!” Taotao cried out in alarm, quickly bending down and using all her strength to help Ah Ran up.

She patted Ah Ran’s bottom and asked with a pang of sympathy, “Did my baobao1 get hurt? Let’s go back and change your clothes.”

Ah Ran clung to her and nodded without a word.

Taotao’s heart melted at the sight. She led her back to the changing room and diligently helped Ah Ran change her pants.

Ah Ran looked up at the girl before her, who was as exquisitely carved as jade, tilted her head, and suddenly said, “Jiejie?”

Taotao froze.

Her eyes widened. “You called me Jiejie?”

Ah Ran blinked, nodded, and said it again with more certainty this time. “Jiejie.”

Her eyes were clear and bright.

Taotao tousled her own hair, feeling a bit lost for a moment.

Zhang-nainai2 had joked to her last time that she had practically raised Ah Ran to the age of two with her own hands, with one hand full of shit and the other of piss3. Mommy and Mama had smiled and nodded at the time.

But Mommy and Mama had also said that Ah Ran was, in fact, her older sister. That without Ah Ran, she wouldn’t be here today.

“Jiejie, Jiejie…” Ah Ran seemed to get addicted to the title. After saying it once, she began to call out a series of them in her soft, sweet voice.

Those soft, fluffy “Jiejie”s burrowed into Taotao’s ears, making her heart tingle.

Being called Jiejie is actually pretty nice…

No wonder Mommy’s eyes always look so gentle whenever Mama calls her “Jiejie.”

The curtains in the master bedroom were drawn, filling the room with a dimness perfect for a deep sleep.

The two people, sleeping sweetly in each other’s arms, were completely unaware that their little cubs had mixed up their titles, only nuzzling each other unconsciously in their dreams.

Last night’s pitifully soaked tail had become soft and smooth again. Fluffy and white, it poked out lazily from under the covers, twitching occasionally with the rise and fall of Yu Luo’s breath.

Qi Song groped about out of habit, and upon finding that fluffy ball, she kneaded it in her palm, stroking it unhurriedly.

It felt so good that a few contented sighs escaped her throat.

Yu Luo’s eyelashes fluttered. She shrank back in Qi Song’s arms and slowly opened her eyes.

She shifted, trying to escape from Qi Song’s palm, only for the other woman to get an inch and want a foot4, kneading her even more forcefully.

The afterglow of last night still lingered, and Yu Luo found it a bit hard to bear. Her breathing quickened as she reached up and mercilessly yanked one of a certain someone’s orange-yellow, furry ears.

Qi Song’s ear twitched. She slowly drifted awake and groggily pulled Yu Luo tighter.

“What’s wrong, Jiejie?” She saw Yu Luo the moment she opened her eyes and felt her heart fill with happiness, planting a light peck on the woman’s cheek.

Only after the kiss did she realize Yu Luo’s cheeks were burning hot.

She was instantly wide awake. “Are you not feeling well anywhere?”

Seeing her bright eyes filled with such earnest and gentle concern, Yu Luo found her adorable for a moment, her heart softening unconsciously.

But the next second, the kneading annoyed her all over again.

“Stop touching my tail,” she chided, reaching up to tug Qi Song’s ear.

Only then did Qi Song belatedly realize what her mischievous hand was doing.

She blinked and obediently let go, muttering, “But it feels so good.”

“And…” Her voice grew fainter. “When your tail is being petted, Jiejie, you look super cute.”

Yu Luo’s lips parted and closed, but for a moment, no words came out.

But behind her, the very tip of her tail lifted in a small arc, betraying its owner’s embarrassed yet pleased emotions.

Qi Song saw it all.

She couldn’t help but chuckle. She reached out and gathered all of Yu Luo into her arms, nuzzling her clingily like a large dog.

“I love Jiejie.” She peppered her with a flurry of kisses, so enthusiastic that Yu Luo couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile, warmth seeping into her cool, clear eyes.

Their love for the new day began in the morning, as ardent and certain as every day that had come before.

They kissed and cuddled, lazing in bed for a while, unhurriedly savoring the indulgence of the previous night.

Qi Song said, “Jiejie’s tail is so soft, like cotton candy. I’ve never petted a kitty tail like this before.”

There was some ambiguity in her statement.

Yu Luo asked, as if casually, “What other kitty tails have you petted?”

Qi Song froze. She looked down at the woman’s face and saw a certain emotion brewing there.

An idea sparked in her mind, and she deliberately teased her. “When we were shooting the show before last, there was a cute kitty on set for a scene, so I gave it a little rua5.”

Yu Luo’s lashes fluttered. “Oh.”

Her snow-white tail drooped limply. She reached up, slowly pushed Qi Song away, and sat up, hugging the covers.

Seeing her quiet and aggrieved back, Qi Song felt a sudden pang in her heart.

She was just about to hurry and explain when she heard Yu Luo say softly:

“You can go back to sleep. I’m going out.”

The words died on Qi Song’s lips. She asked instinctively, “Where are you going? You’re not taking me?”

Yu Luo leisurely tied the belt of her robe, saying as if the wind was light and the clouds were pale6:

“To find a dog cafe and rua puppy ears all day. Without you.”

“…”

Qi Song’s gaze froze. She scrambled to sit up and wrapped her arms tightly around the other woman from behind.

“You can’t go!” she whined pitifully, clinging to her. “Aren’t my ears enough for you to pet?”

“Besides, I’ve only ever petted your tail.” Her furry ears drooped melancholically as she tried to coax her to stay, looking aggrieved. “You’re not allowed to go to a dog cafe and pet ears either.”

“Other puppies’ ears definitely aren’t as soft as mine…” she said, sourly putting down the competition.

“Oh?” Yu Luo raised an eyebrow. “But didn’t a certain someone just say that on set—”

“I was just teasing you,” Qi Song said, hugging her tighter and confessing in a muffled voice. “There wasn’t any kitty in a scene on set.”

“Besides, when I was filming that show, Jiejie, you were with me the whole time. You know better than anyone whether there was a cat or not.”

After she said it, Qi Song belatedly realized she had fallen into the wicked woman’s trap.

Yu Luo had clearly known everything all along and had just used the scheme against the schemer7 to tease her!

Seeing the realization dawn in Qi Song’s eyes, Yu Luo could not help but smile: “Idiot.”

“…” Qi Song rolled over and pinned her down. “Who are you calling an idiot?”

Her tail was captured dangerously in a palm and gently kneaded. Yu Luo’s heart hammered in her chest, and she couldn’t help but bite her lip.

“You must have misheard…” she argued in a small voice.

“Too late.”

Qi Song grunted, bent down, and found the softest spot to bite.

“Jiejie!”

After fooling around until the sun was three poles high8, the two wives came downstairs to see Ah Ran toddling happily around the living room, calling “Jiejie” to Taotao with every other breath.

Yu Luo and Qi Song’s pupils both contracted at the same time.

Yu Luo walked over and blocked the running cub’s path.

Ah Ran couldn’t stop in time and bumped softly into Yu Luo’s leg.

She blinked, hugged Yu Luo’s leg, and nuzzled it. “Mommy, good morning.”

Yu Luo crouched down, gathered the little soft ball into her arms, and reminded her earnestly, “Sweet cub, you’re calling Taotao ‘Jiejie’ now, but you might regret it one day.”

Yu Luo felt a little worried when she remembered how Ah Ran used to call Taotao “little brat,” her face a mask of resistance and avoidance.

If Ah Ran were to regain her memories one day, how would she face the past where she was affectionately raised by Taotao and had even foolishly called her “Jiejie”?

As her biological mother, Yu Luo was worried, but she also found herself secretly looking forward to it a little.

Ah Ran, however, couldn’t quite understand Yu Luo’s concern. She nodded with partial understanding, her big, pure, and bright eyes looking up at her dependently.

Overwhelmed by her cuteness, Yu Luo bent her head, kissed Ah Ran’s cheek, and smiled. “Never mind. As long as you’re both happy now, that’s all that matters.”

And so, the titles the two cubs used for each other became a complete mess, a mix of “Jiejie” and “Baobao.”

One time, Qi Song couldn’t help but mutter, “How come the cubs’ names for each other seem even sweeter than ours?”

When she heard this, Yu Luo was cutting a crisp, crimson peach into small pieces.

She didn’t answer right away, only finishing cutting the peach at a leisurely pace.

Then she speared a piece of juicy peach flesh with a fork, held it to Qi Song’s lips, and her eyes curved. “Want a bite? Baobao.”

Qi Song’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

The woman’s cool, jade-like face was clearly full of mature, alluring charm, yet when her crimson lips parted to speak, she pronounced the word “Baobao” so cutely, sounding utterly doting.

Qi Song stared, transfixed. Her throat bobbed a few times before she asked, a beat too late, “…What did you say?”

Yu Luo watched her, perfectly at ease. “You didn’t hear me?”

Qi Song nodded innocently, the furry ears on her head bouncing along.

Yu Luo’s gaze rested on those orange-yellow ears for a few moments before drifting down to Qi Song’s clear, dark eyes.

She gave a soft laugh. With a flutter of her lashes, her eyes shimmered, and her voice was as low as a siren’s call.

“…Jiejie will tell you tonight.”

Qi Song’s heart instantly began to pound even hotter.

At night, sweet and soft murmurs could be faintly heard from the master bedroom, while the children’s room across the hall was just as warm and cozy.

Ah Ran was four years old this year and could already speak smoothly and fluently.

She was nestled against Taotao, slowly sharing what had happened at kindergarten that day.

Taotao listened intently, stroking her soft hair from time to time.

After she finished, Ah Ran confessed shyly in her sweet voice, “Ah Ran missed Jiejie a lot at kindergarten today.”

“I missed you very, very much too.” Taotao kissed her cheek. “All I could think about was hurrying home to hug our Ah Ran.”

At her words, Ah Ran’s eyes brightened.

“I love Jiejie, Mommy, and Mama the most,” she murmured happily. “Will we be together forever and ever?”

“Of course.”

Taotao reasoned logically, “When we grow up, we’ll get married and have babies just like Mommy and Mama, and we’ll never be apart.”

Ah Ran blinked her eyes. “Is that how it works?”

“Look, Mommy calls Mama by her name, and Mama calls Mommy ‘Jiejie,’ and sometimes they even call each other ‘Baobao,'” Taotao said, laying out her evidence. “We do that too.”

“They sleep in the same room, in the same bed. We do that too.”

“They hold hands when they go out, and they hug a lot. We do that too.”

Ah Ran was convinced. She nodded her little head firmly, her almond eyes wide. “Marriage!”

The next morning, upon hearing the two children’s chatter, Yu Luo and Qi Song both choked on their milk at the same time.

They covered their mouths and coughed up a storm, looking rather disheveled.

Ah Ran and Taotao both worriedly handed them tissues.

Qi Song wiped the moisture from the corner of her eye, patting Yu Luo’s back while reflecting, not knowing whether to laugh or cry, “We weren’t paying enough attention.”

It took her and Yu Luo quite a bit of effort to make the two cubs understand that they held hands and slept together because they were sisters, and that the “Jiejie” they used was different from the “Jiejie” Qi Song called Yu Luo.

“In the future, you’ll each have your own person that you like, and you might form your own little families separately, but that won’t affect the fact that you’ll always love each other as family,” Qi Song said.

Ah Ran’s face fell. “Can’t I marry Jiejie?” she asked pitifully.

“I want to,” she said, her dark eyes glistening.

Yu Luo, Qi Song: “…”

After several consecutive days of serious education from the two adults, the two cubs finally understood what love and marriage were all about.

It had only ever been a case of a child’s words carrying no harm9, and now they tossed it to the back of their minds and went back to playing happily together as good sisters.

But Yu Luo and Qi Song actually felt an indescribable sense of guilt about it.

Taotao and Ah Ran weren’t related by blood, so logically speaking…

“We’ll see when they’re older.” Qi Song pulled the dazed Yu Luo into her arms and patted her back gently. “We just need to do our duty and teach them what they need to know, gradually tell them the stories of the past, and for the rest, we can just let nature take its course. There’s no need to worry too much.”

“Besides, for the time, it is still early.” She bent down and pecked the woman with a kiss. “If you have the time, you might as well cuddle10 with me and cherish these furry ears and tail that only appear during special physiological periods.”

The days had clearly slowed down in a state of stable happiness, yet time itself seemed to be flowing by quickly in secret.

Today was Ah Ran’s sixth birthday.

Yu Luo and Qi Song had dressed her up to be incredibly pretty and cute. With a crown studded with translucent gems placed on her head, Ah Ran looked like a little princess who had escaped from a world of ice and snow.

Taotao, too, wore her favorite dress, a necklace with a gem pendant around her neck that was a matching pair to the one on Ah Ran’s crown.

“Our Ah Ran and Taotao are both especially beautiful today,” Yu Luo and Qi Song said, bending down to kiss their two daughters.

The family of four went out and had a set of family portraits taken as a memento.

Then they went to the newly built Doraemon land at Universal Studios and played to their hearts’ content.

When they returned home that evening, a soft, cute birthday cake sat on the dining table, its six cartoon candles lit and casting a warm, gentle glow.

The lights were turned off, and Ah Ran made a devout wish before the flickering candlelight—

I hope our family of four will be healthy and safe, and live happily together for the rest of our lives…

The next second, the candlelight suddenly flickered, a wavering that could be felt even through closed eyes.

A wish?

Making a wish…

A sudden, sharp pain. Countless wishes suddenly surged into Ah Ran’s mind. They were the yearnings of countless people, some joyful, some sorrowful, and she had once roamed among them, seeking out the most devout wishes from the vast expanse to grant one by one.

Later, she began to exist within the wishes of others…

And later still, she had a wish of her own, and was willing to sacrifice herself for it…

Ah Ran slowly opened her eyes.

In the flickering candlelight, she saw Yu Luo’s face, then Qi Song’s, and then Taotao’s.

“Yu Luo, you and Qi Song must start over from the beginning and create a new future that belongs to you both. I really hope I can see that day…”

—Many years ago, she had said those words, reluctant and pained, to a tearful Yu Luo.

How wonderful.

A faint smile touched her lips as tears soaked her cheeks.

She had seen it.

At this very moment, the twilight is deepening.

You are draped in the sunset’s glow, leisurely watering the flowers in the courtyard; Taotao and Ah Ran are having a little tiff, yet they can’t help but worry about each other.

And I am typing the final paragraph.

This record has become so very long. Looking back at it word by word, I can never stop my eyes from welling up with tears.

In the year after you passed away, I once recorded our past, stroke by stroke: from our first meeting in the ice and snow that winter, to you asking me in a desolate corner if I was willing to have a small home with you, to you waiting for me under the phoenix tree after my evening self-study classes, and then to you accepting my proposal under the aurora…

I recorded all of that past in a notebook, unwilling to let go of a single detail. That way, even when I grew old and my memory faded, I could still savor everything about you on my own.

But later, time rewound, and the notebook was destroyed in the process.

Fortunately, my memory is still quite good.

With a heart completely different from the grief of that time, I am now filled with a stable happiness as I sit before my computer, picking up those memories and sentences once more, even adding more detailed and richer supplements.

Besides our inexperienced youth and that “future” that has since been undone, I’ve also told you of my pitiful state in the year you died, in the hopes that you’ll cherish me; I’ve written down my magical encounter in the Realm of Self-Forgetting for you to see, to tell you how clever and brave I was, in the hopes that you’ll love me more; I’ve carefully confessed my foolish past after I came back, when I mistakenly thought I had transmigrated into a book and that you had cheated on me and had a child, in the hopes of making you laugh…

I want you to be tripped up by my clumsiness, so that in the end, you can only fall into my arms.

I wrote for a very, very long time, nearly half a year. Many of the sentences may not be polished or appropriate, and the content is recorded all higgledy-piggledy.

But I believe you can feel the absolutely sincere and full emotions I had when I wrote them. And that’s enough, right?

Today, I gave this record one final polish and have completely finished the manuscript.

I think it’s time to give it to you as your 36th birthday present.

I imagine that as you browse these words, you will probably reveal a gentle smile at times, bite your lip in shyness at others, and at others still, the corners of your eyes will redden as clear tears flow…

Ah, just thinking about it is so adorable.

So I’ve decided that while you read this record, I’ll pull up a chair and sit across from you. I’ll pretend I’m reading a script, when I’m actually, secretly, reading you.

And when you finish reading the whole text and see this paragraph on the very last page, you will surely break into a smile through your tears and look up at me.

So now, hurry and get up, come over and kiss me.

—Forever yours, Qi Song.

The author has something to say:

555511 It’s over!

To me, Yu Luo and Qi Song’s love is pure and passionate enough, and I’m very satisfied with it. I hope that, just like the final chapter number, they will be happy forever in another world (teary-eyed)

If you also like steadfast and pure love, I suggest you hurry and add this author to your collection, and then collect the upcoming novel in my column (twiddles fingers).
