Little Sweetness 10
“Say a couple more sentences; the praise is quite nice to hear.”
Su Xin was all smiles, an idea forming in her mind.
Zhang Tianyi, seeing an opening, quickly continued his praise.
Chen Baixiao felt relieved. This meant Su Xin had more or less agreed and was just teasing Zhang Tianyi.
“Alright then, that’s perfectly fine.”
“The people at Third High change quite frequently. I heard that the kid1 who came at the start of the school year was kicked out again. The new boss is relatively “low-key,” which doesn’t fit Third High’s style at all. We haven’t received any news on our end yet.”
“Okay.”
Just like that, Su Xin took over the position of First High’s top dog, completely uninterested in what was happening at Third High.
Because Su Xin had become the boss, she had no choice but to handle those matters.
Previously, neither Su Xin nor Qiu Qingqing bothered with these things, but now they had to.
Chen Baixiao stepped down to focus on his studies. Aside from occasionally coming out for a meal, he didn’t show up much anymore.
Not long after Su Xin had taken this position, Meng Zikun came to find her, holding a small notebook.
They were now sitting in their dedicated base, which was used for handling matters and holding meetings.
It was the sports equipment warehouse. The place was large, and with things placed to one side, there was a large open area.
Su Xin sat in a swivel chair with her legs crossed2, her attitude languid.
Meng Zikun said there was a matter to be dealt with. It wasn’t actually a big deal, just a rather dog’s blood’s love triangle. Two boys had come to blows over a girl. Halfway through the fight, Meng Zikun received the news and quickly told Su Xin. Su Xin immediately sent people over to break them up and drag them to the sports warehouse to be handled.
The girl had also come over and was standing to the side, looking uneasy.
The two boys knew Meng Zikun, or rather, had heard of him, but they didn’t know who Su Xin, the one sitting in the chair, was.
“Second-years, right?”
Su Xin glanced over, and the two guys nodded.
Su Xin was wearing her school uniform with her hair in a ponytail, looking very harmless.
The two boys weren’t trembling at all, but they also didn’t keep looking at Su Xin, instead keeping their heads down.
“Kun’er3, what’s the situation? Explain it in detail.”
Meng Zikun pushed up his glasses and began to read from his small notebook.
“Zhang Yun4, male, second-year class six. Feng Lan5, female, second-year class six. Chen Zhongying6, male, second-year class nine.”
“Feng Lan and Chen Zhongying are in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. The fight started because Chen Zhongying saw Feng Lan and Zhang Yun walking very closely together. Zhang Yun had repeatedly been attentive to Feng Lan, so this was to give Zhang Yun some color to see7 and to make him stay away from Feng Lan.”
When Meng Zikun finished his explanation, both boys coughed violently, and the girl’s face turned beet red.
The corner of Su Xin’s eye twitched. Meng Zikun’s deadpan tone, and his use of such formal language.
In short, a guy thought he was about to be greened8, so he went to fight his love rival, and got dragged over here before they could finish.
Tsk, in Su Xin’s opinion, for this kind of thing, they should just fight it out. Otherwise, how could they feel comfortable?
“Are you still going to fight?”
Su Xin interlaced her fingers, propped up her chin, and looked at the two boys with interest in her eyes.
Zhang Yun and Chen Zhongying quickly shook their heads.
“No more fighting, no more fighting.”
Although they didn’t know who this girl was, since she was sitting here, she must be the new top dog.
The top dog of First High definitely couldn’t get the position through connections or looks; they had to be able to fight and be very good at it.
Zhang Yun and Chen Zhongying didn’t want to get beaten up, so they shook their heads frantically.
“Why stop fighting? Go on, fight. Right? He’s interested in your girlfriend, shouldn’t you teach him a lesson?”
“And you, being able to get close to the girl means you have a chance. Wouldn’t it be great to beat him to the ground and then lead the young lady home?”
Su Xin stood up, not even glancing at Feng Lan who was standing to the side. When the girl had first come in, she had taken one look; her looks were average, but she was saved by a delicate and pretty air.
For some reason, although Zhang Yun and Chen Zhongying had originally been very angry, the more Su Xin spoke, the more they trembled inwardly. Their anger completely vanished, and they even began to shiver a little because the situation was just too bizarre.
Although there was nothing wrong with what Su Xin was saying—it was exactly what they were thinking—for some reason, they were just scared.
No matter how they heard it, it just sounded off.
“I’m telling you to fight and you’re not happy about it? How promising.”
Su Xin snorted and sat back down in her seat.
“Do you have anything to say? Was what Meng Zikun said your situation?”
“There must be a misunderstanding…”
Zhang Yun glanced at Chen Zhongying.
“What misunderstanding? Come on, speak. A little louder.”
Su Xin said, twirling her hair as if watching a good show.
“I had no idea Feng Lan was your girlfriend, so what’s wrong with me pursuing someone?”
“Fuck, you don’t fucking ask around if she has a boyfriend before you pursue her?”
Chen Zhongying rolled his eyes, clearly disdainful of this explanation.
“I did ask. She said herself that she didn’t.”
Zhang Yun still had a mark on his face from where Chen Zhongying had just hit him. He was also completely dumbfounded.
If he had known she was taken, why would he have pursued her? Couldn’t he have just suppressed his feelings and found someone else?
Zhang Yun was a liberal arts student, fair-skinned and delicate-looking with a bit of a baby face. Chen Zhongying was a science student, tall and sturdy. Zhang Yun was clearly not his match.
As Zhang Yun’s words fell, everyone turned their gaze to Feng Lan, who was standing over there.
Whoa, that’s pretty bold, huh?
“What do you mean? When did I ever say that?”
When Feng Lan saw Chen Zhongying looking at her, her face instantly turned pale. Being stared at by so many people with that kind of expression, she glared at Zhang Yun.
“I asked you if you had a boyfriend, and you said that you did have people pursuing you. Why didn’t you just say clearly that you had a boyfriend? What’s ‘having people pursue you’ supposed to mean? I thought it was a fair competition.”
Zhang Yun really wanted to protest his innocence. He wasn’t good at fighting, and it was even more impossible for him to take on someone of Chen Zhongying’s build. Who would have thought the guy would be so violent right from the start? In reality, it wasn’t a fight between the two of them at all; it was completely one-sided, with Chen Zhongying beating him up.
“Is what he’s saying true?”
Chen Zhongying’s face immediately darkened as he looked at Feng Lan.
“No… I didn’t… Don’t be angry…”
“I’m asking, is what he said true or not? Did you say those words?”
Chen Zhongying asked in a low voice.
“Yes! I said it! So what! You were the one who pursued me in the first place, but have you ever treated me like your girlfriend? I ask you to eat, you don’t go. I ask you to hang out, you don’t go. All you know every day is studying, playing games, and playing ball. If you like those things so much, why are you even in a relationship! You don’t like me at all!”
Never underestimate a girl’s explosive power, especially the kind who is usually quiet and doesn’t get angry. When they do, it’s particularly terrifying.
“How many times are you talking about? Every time you wanted me to buy you a gift, was there ever a time I didn’t?”
“Then I’ll give those things back to you! I just wanted to act cute and be doted on, what’s wrong with that! If I really wanted to buy something, couldn’t I just ask my dad! I wanted to find a boyfriend, not a father! He tells me jokes, explains homework problems to me, and hangs out with me. He’s so much better than you, you don’t even know!”
Tears streamed endlessly down Feng Lan’s face as she pointed at Zhang Yun and spoke, completely oblivious to where she was or who was around, just wanting to scream out everything in her heart.
“Then let’s break up.”
Chen Zhongying blurted out.
“Since you’re so impatient, since you’re already looking for your next option, then let’s just break up. Go be with this little white face9.”
“Hey, who the fuck are you calling a little white face!”
Chen Zhongying left, leaving a tearful Feng Lan and an awkward Zhang Yun standing there.
Su Xin shrugged. Some things could be cleared up just by talking, why was it necessary to resort to violence? Although, even when things were cleared up, the result wasn’t always good.
Zhang Yun walked over and handed a tissue to Feng Lan for her to wipe her tears.
Feng Lan looked at him with her shimmering, tear-filled eyes, but he just shook his head.
“Sorry, I think I’m going to back out of this. Goodbye.”
“Is the matter settled then? You can go back now, there’s nothing else.”
Su Xin waved her hand, took the cup from Qiu Qingqing’s hand, and drank a sip of water.
After hearing what Zhang Yun said, Feng Lan immediately trotted out. Girls tend to be thin-skinned10, and she was too embarrassed to stay in a place like this any longer.
“What are you still doing here?”
Su Xin glanced at Zhang Yun, who hadn’t moved. Zhang Yun shook his head.
“I don’t know either. I just need a moment to process.”
“Are all the young people these days like this when they date?”
Su Xin spun her chair. It was quite comfortable.
“Xin-jie, you’re younger than us, aren’t you?”
Meng Zikun closed his notebook. Su Xin was probably a bit younger than all of them, but she always liked to speak with a mature tone.
Su Xin raised her eyebrows but didn’t say anything.
She wasn’t old, but the things she had experienced were likely things these people would never go through in their entire lives.
Qiu Qingqing brought over the school uniform jacket for Su Xin to put on. Although it wasn’t too cold outside, it could be windy.
Su Xin held out her arms and let Qiu Qingqing put the jacket on her, looking just like an emperor waiting to be served.
After Qiu Qingqing finished putting the jacket on her, she zipped it up, straightened the collar, and then retied Su Xin’s hair for her.
This could be described as serving a girlfriend with exceptional attentiveness.
“Relationships should be simpler, right?”
Su Xin turned and wrapped her arms around Qiu Qingqing’s neck, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“Mhm.”
Everyone present had dog food shoved in their faces. Some were already used to it, while others were dumbfounded.
Meng Zikun’s eyes, however, lit up as he watched. He immediately took out his little notebook and jotted these things down.
Good grief, if he took this out in the future, it would be a complete encyclopedia on how to dote on your wife.
Meng Zikun diligently studied the techniques for doting on and flirting with girls, feeling completely satisfied.
Su Xin and Qiu Qingqing prepared to leave. Class had already started, but they were still outside. The teachers wouldn’t say anything, though.
Every time there was a change of leadership, the teachers would know who the new leader was. Furthermore, Su Xin and Qiu Qingqing were considered good students of excellent character and academic standing, so occasionally leaving after class and not returning on time wasn’t considered a big deal.
Someone ran in from outside, panting heavily.
“Xin-jie, Kun-ge, Nan-zi11 got beaten up! It was the guys from Third High.”
Su Xin stopped in her tracks. Meng Zikun went over to talk with the person.
One of the guys from their school faction was dating a girl from Third High. The two were neighbors, but a guy from Third High also liked the girl. When he found out her boyfriend was from First High, old grudges and new hatred combined. The guy from Third High then intercepted our guy on the road and beat him up.
“Oh, stirring up trouble. I like it.”
